In Tarsakh 1385, the moniker the Year of Blue Fire proves its meaning.
Suddenly arcanists across the Realms fall into distress, struggling to maintain their sanity. In the southern Realms, the jungles west of Halruua burst into a raging inferno of blue flame. The local effort to control the firestorm lead to a massive explosion felt as far as Waterdeep.
These flames surface elsewhere in Faerun, erupting through portals and planar gates to afflict nearly every corner of the continent.
Mystran priests suddenly lose their connection with their goddess, their prayers unanswered. Those who seek to commune with the Lady of Mysteries receive only silence.
In Cormyr the War Wizards find themselves bereft of their magic and under the mental strain of having their spells burned from their brains nearly a third of them lose their sanity. More War Wizards still perish as their wards throughout the kingdom fail, releasing beings that had been magically imprisoned long ago. The Royal Magician seals herself in the War Wizard’s tower.
It is worse for arcanists outside of the College of War Wizards. Individuals without the discipline and training of the War Wizards are overwhelmed. Many lose their minds and those who retain their sanity are shaken to the core.
The Steel Regent dispatches the Purple Dragons across the realm in attempt to steady the staggering realm as unleashed horrors stalk the kingdom. Realms wide, magic fails but in the proximity of the blue flames erupting across Faerun magic runs wild.
And to those who touch the blue flames, the worst fate of all awaits…

Written by ihmajinfrc.proboards.com/thread/33926/quick-guide-customize-signs-parchmentA Quick Guide on how to Customize Signs, Parchment, and Books
What You Need A medium such as ink or paint. Mediums have charges.
- An applicator like a quill pen or brush. Applicators have a unique power.
- A surface like a sign, parchment, book, or any other valid item. Surfaces are the objects that will be customized.
How To Use
Use the Unique Power of an applicator. The in-game cursor should change from a pointing finger to a compass-like target selector. Select a valid object as a target. You may now leverage commands to customize the object. Each command must be followed by a blank space and then text. Press the enter keyboard key to submit the command. Each submitted command will consume one charge of your medium. The commands are as follows:
- !n
This command will change the name of an object. Submitting !n New Name Here will change the name of parchment to New Name Here.
- !w
This command will append text to the object description. The object description text will be replaced the first time this command is submitted but not any other time after. Submitting !w Description Text will append the object description with Description Text.
- !e
This command will enter a line break when submitted. You may consider entering this command twice in a row to produce a double line break for greater legibility.
- !r
This command will revert, or undo, the very last and only the very last command submitted. You will not be able to revert any other changes beyond the most recently submitted command. It is highly encouraged that you draft and then review the entire object description in an external text editor before attempting to customize an object description.
- !f
This command will finalize customizing the object. Any commands submitted afterward will be prohibited! An object will automatically finalize if you attempt to customize a new surface item.
Tips and Hints
You may use mediums, applicators, and any surface item interchangeably (i.e. a quill pen, paint, and sign). You may purchase mediums, applicators, and surface items from vendors in Great Gaunt. Server resets will not automatically finalize an object. DM Jorteck has created a wonderful tool to help customize objects. Special Thanks

Entering !hotbar will list the options. Hotbar Presets can be be saved, listed, loaded, and deleted using the above text commands followed by the name given to the Hotbar Preset. For example, !hotbar save MyHawtbar1 will save your current hotbar configuration by the given label. The hotbar configuration can be recalled any time by entering !hotbar load MyHawtbar1. If spaces are preferred in the label, the label will need to be entered using quotes. For example: !hotbar save "My Hawtbar 1" Once Hotbar Presets have been saved, they can be listed by using the command: !hotbar list Note that items assigned to Quickslots in Hotbar Presets are saved by location in inventory. Moving the item in inventory and putting something else in the same space will result in the new item being recalled in the Quickslot instead of the original one when the Hotbar Preset is loaded. In a future update this may be fixed to actual item instead of item location. FRC would like to thank DM Jorteck for his work developing FRC's Hotbar Presets.

The deaths in the Frost Fair today took place b/c of Attacks of Opportunity from the dummies, which were creatures. Even with their AI turned off, the AoO's kicked in with the melee event taking place in a tight space with archers shooting their targets at point blank range.
As these were dummies, the deaths at the fair should be considered OOC. OOC deaths like this example shouldn't consider it part of the story.
Otherwise, death should be considered part of the story, roleplayed as such, and taken seriously.
There are exceptions, such as the Shieldmeet example given above, where the DM's on scene stipulated in advance how deaths in the tournament should be treated.
When uncertain, please ask a DM or EDM.

Persistent Storage The FRC Banking System now offers Persistent Storage. Player characters may purchase a personal storage vault at any bank location. This vault may then be accessed at any bank location at any time for a fee. The personal storage vault will hold up to 300 items. Note that Plot Items may not be stored in vaults currently, with the exception of bank notes, gold bars, and platinum bars. The contents of the storage vault are held in a server side database. This database will be backed up periodically, usually during future server updates. Warning! Items deposited in the vault are stored at your own risk. If something should happen to the data the most recent backup will be restored. Any items lost will not be replaced by the FRC Staff. That said we'll do our best to maintain the database and backup periodically. FRC would like to thank DM Jorteck for his work developing the FRC Storage feature. Brief Tutorial Images will be added later, my image hosting site is having a rough time today Speak to Bank Teller and request to create a personal bank vault. The price is 5,000 gold pieces. You'll need to have the gold on your character to receive the dialog option. A vault will be created for your character and you will be given a key. Don't lose it! When purchasing the vault, the Bank Vault window will open, like an inventory container. To deposit items into the vault, just drag and drop from inventory. To withdraw from the vault, just drag the item back into inventory. The vault can hold up to 300 items. The close button or the X button may not close the vault. If this occurs, just walk away from the Bank Teller and the vault will close automatically. To access your vault later, just revisit any banker NPC and open the dialog. Select the option to access your bank vault. Your character will be charged 50 gold pieces. Please use your persistent storage vault responsibly! Remember, all of FRC's rules apply, including Twinking. If there's a problem following the rules an individual's storage privileges may be taken away. Let's be sure to respect the rules and make sure this doesn't happen. Have fun!

Couriers in the livery of House Thundersword of Immersea ride forth bearing documents signed and sealed by their lord's heir, Sir Ondyn. They make their way through the kingdom with two spare horses apiece, swapping to a fresh mount when the first one tires. With a steady pace they make their way through the cities, towns, villages, and crossroads of the realm, even unto Greatgaunt.
The riders herald the coming of the Shieldmeet Tournament and announce the opening of Pre-Registry for competitors in this year's games.
General admission into the tournament is free. Competitors must buy a badge in Flamerule (July) for 1,000 gold pieces and pre-register to be guaranteed spots in the games. The badge price increases to 2,000 gold in Eleasis (August). Those without badges who wish to join the day of a contest may be allowed in if there is an opening and if time permits, but the required fee will be 1,000 gold pieces for each event they are allowed to join.
This year's Shieldmeet Tournament will be held at the Tourney Grounds of Immersea over four days of competition and a fifth day for the awards ceremony. The competition will be held on the 8th, 9th, 15th, and 16th day of Eleasis and the Award Ceremony shall be held on the 22nd.
A detailed Schedule for events will be published shortly after the end of Flamerule by House Thundersword's Tourney Committee. This schedule will be determined by Pre-Registrant's availability as best can be done to suit the majority of Registrants and the Tourney Masters and Mistresses.
Those who wish to Pre-Register may do so with any Shieldmeet Tourney Committee Master or Mistress:
- Vennis Haler (lucesi ), Master of Games - Helga Battleaxe (Warlord ), Mistress of Games & Mistress of Skill - Grimnir (Grimnir Gurnison ), Master of Arms - Yoriko (winterglass ), Mistress of Skill - Orichan Tailor (appleseedy ), Master of Arts - Ru (Willow ), Mistress of Stage - Henrik (Defunct Fiddlesticks ), Master of Healing - Kori (Fluffy the Mad ), Mistress of Healing
The Shieldmeet Committee has Staff Positions open! Those interested may apply with any Master or Mistress: - Assistant Master or Mistress of Arms - Assistant Master or Mistress of Stage - Assistant Master or Mistress of Arts
Shieldmeet Committee Members are allowed to compete in the games so long as someone else is judging the event.
(Special Thanks to the Thundersword Shieldmeet Player Group for their enthusiasm, effort, and support of the tournament and especially to Willow for the administrative work and beautiful posters)

In the days that follow the Crown's proclamation, something else is tacked beside the Royal Decree. The added leaf of parchment is small and the lettering is the same as before, simple and neat.
We the Faithful Shall Remember
Harp Unstrung the Woeful Year
Up in flame the Lady's Timber
Cobbles Wet with Blood and Tears
Beneath their Weight the Ground Trembled
Marching Beneath Devil Dragon's Wings
None Spared in Home, Tavern, Temple
After Ten and Three Years We Sing
Songs of Love Lost and Kin's Blood Shed
When this Orc Swears before Our King
Honor Our Dead, Wear the Scarlet Thread
In Sullen Graves Rest Ours who Fell
For their memory, Wear the Scarlet Thread
Young King Remember Arabel
All Cormytes Brave, Wear the Scarlet Thread
We the Faithful Shall Remember.

Within a few days, something else is tacked onto the Orcish Emissaries' Proclamation. It is a new notice. The added leaf of parchment is small but nailed in the center of the Orcish scrawl. The lettering is simple and neat.
What Happened to the Cormyte Brave?
Forgot Ye the Arabel Grave
The Death of our King
And the Future He Gave?
The Grandson Bids
Throw it Away
Behind Steel Skirts Hid
An Orc's Ransom to Pay?
I say thee Nay...
There Yet be Few Cormytes Brave
Ever Marching For Dragon of Old
A King's Ransom Shall be Paid
Two Hundred Thousand Gold
For the Warlord's Head This Day.
Claim it.

A day or two following the Royal Proclamation, Orcish Emissaries bearing the colors and banner of Lord Urbuchek begin arriving at city and town gates within the kingdom, near the lairs of the settlements sworn to the Warlord. In turn they appear to Suzail & Shallybrook, Arabel, Eveningstar, and Greatgaunt.
The Emissaries ask permission to make their proclamation. Suzail, Eveningstar, and Greatgaunt permit the Emissaries inside the gates briefly to make their proclamations before escorting the orcs away. In all cases the emissaries draw crowds of curious onlookers and hecklers. Violence is threatened but quelled in Eveningstar.
The people of Arabel and the hin of Shallybrook refuse to admit the emissaries, pointing to the Royal Decree and reminding the orcs to keep to their lairs while the Cormyrians will keep to their towns.
In all cases the orcs depart and ask the locals to post Lord Urbuchek's Proclamation by the gates or crossroads of the town. In Shallybrook, the notice finds its way to a local outdoor privy.
Hear You, Hear You Too
Let be know to all Cormyr
WarLord Welcome Orc People of Cormyr
To Come and Join Tribe.
If Have Orc Blood You Brother. Or Sister.
Have Place in Tribe.
And
Nooble and Whize WarLord Urbuchek Son of Kalchek
Lord Tamer of Stoneland
Seek Pretty Cormyr Lady of Noble Birth for Wife.
CaveWife rule people with Lord at Side
And become WarBaronness when Land Grow.
Give Lord Many Sons Strong Children.
Make Great Lady.
If Want Speak to Emissary.

Hail Cormyrians! FRC has implemented a Fallen Status system for Barbarians, Clerics, Druids, and Paladins to better align with PNP. frc.proboards.com/thread/32689/fallen-status-divine-change-tokensTo update our rules for this, our Character Creation Rules are being revised by the following: frc.proboards.com/thread/29392/server-expanded-character-creation-rules7. Barbarian Alignment - Barbarians begin play with a restriction against Lawful Alignment. Should a Barbarian character shift to a Lawful Alignment later in their career they may lose their ability to rage by receiving a Fallen Status Token. A Lawful character may not advance as a Barbarian. This restriction can be removed if the Barbarian coordinates with a DM or EDM and successfully earns a Non-Lawful alignment shift. See Fallen Status. 8. Cleric Patron Deities, Alignment, Domains, and Atonement - Clerics must have a deity that is native to the Forgotten Realms setting. Generally, a cleric's alignment can only be one step from their deity's alignment. For example, the deity Bane is Lawful Evil and a cleric of Bane can only be Lawful Evil, Neutral Evil, or Lawful Neutral. If playing a cleric, please see the following link to read further and note exceptions. frc.proboards.com/post/20339/threadClerics must also have the correct domains for their selected deity. If playing a cleric, a list of pantheons with deities, alignments, and domains usable on FRC may be found here: frc.proboards.com/post/316873/threadAdditionally, players may request approval from the DM Team to play a cleric having a fiendish lord as their patron. The virtuous Celestial Paragons do not desire mortal worshipers and do not have clerics on the Prime Material Plane. Please contact a DM for more information if needed. Clerics who change their faith or act in ways opposed to their god’s alignment or purposes may lose access to their divine abilities by receiving a Fallen Status Token. A Fallen Cleric may not advance further as a Cleric. These restrictions can be removed if the Cleric coordinates with a DM or EDM and successfully earns Atonement. See Fallen Status. 9. Druid and Ranger Patron Deities and Druid Atonement - Druids and Rangers must have a patron deity to cast spells. Druids must follow a nature deity, but Rangers do not. If needed, a list of nature deities usable on FRC may be found here: frc.proboards.com/post/316867/threadA Druid who changes their faith, ceases to revere nature, changes to a prohibited alignment, or teaches the Druidic language to a Non-Druid may lose access to their divine and nature abilities by receiving a Fallen Status Token. A Fallen Druid may not advance further as a Druid. These restrictions can be removed if the Druid coordinates with a DM or EDM and successfully earns Atonement. See Fallen Status. 11. Paladin Orders & Multi-classing, Falling from Grace, and Atonement - All Paladins in the Forgotten Realms are devoted to a patron deity having Lawful Good, Neutral Good, or Lawful Neutral alignment. The Chaotic Good goddess Sune Firehair is the exception as she also has paladins among her followers. Paladin characters may not take the Blackguard prestige class. Should you wish for your Paladin to Fall from Grace, you must contact a DM. A paladin who changes their faith, ceases to be lawful good, who willfully commits an evil act, or who grossly violates the code of conduct may lose access to their divine abilities by receiving a Fallen Status Token. A Fallen Paladin may not advance further as a Paladin. These restrictions can be removed if the Paladin coordinates with a DM or EDM and successfully earns Atonement. See Fallen Status. A Paladin is not required to belong to a specific Paladin Order on FRC but a Paladin must belong to a Paladin Order that allows multi-classing to multi-class within the allowances of the Order. Paladins who do not belong to a Paladin Order that allows multi-classing may not multi-class freely. However a Paladin without a Paladin Order that allows multi-classing may cease advancing as a Paladin permanently and opt to take other classes going forward. Players making this decision should notify the DM Team and advise the character's current class levels. If you play a Paladin who belongs to a Paladin Order and decide to leave the order please notify the DM Team of your decision and your character's current class levels. FRC Player Character Paladins belonging to a Paladin Order may multi-class according to the allowances of the Order on this list: frc.proboards.com/post/316871/threadThis is not an exhaustive list of all the Paladin Orders in the Forgotten Realms, but other orders than those listed do not allow multi-classing.

The following class updates are being made to bring server information up to date, but are not new to the module: Barbarian- Barbarian Rage, Greater Rage, and Mighty Rage increase Attack Bonus and Damage instead of Strength. This allows the benefit to effectively stack with Strength bonuses without being restricted by the attribute's normal bonus limit. - Slashing, Piercing, and Bludgeoning Damage Immunity is applied during Barbarian Rage (5%), Greater Rage (10%), and Mighty Rage (15%). This is in addition to Damage Reduction and Epic Damage Reduction. Bard Summon Creature I through VI spells summon creatures as if cast one spell level higher. Palemaster Summon Undead and Summon Greater Undead feats summon creatures that are slightly stronger, advance earlier, and have a longer duration when compared to undead creatures summoned by spells. Ranger Summon Creature I through IV spells summon creatures as if cast two spell levels higher. The following updates are being made for new additions: Fallen Status & Divine Class Faith Change TokensFRC has introduced a token driven Fallen Status system whereby Barbarians, Clerics, Druids, and Paladins may lose access to class abilities when turning away from alignment, faith, or code. To have the restriction lifted, impacted characters will need to coordinate with a DM to seek atonement. See Fallen Status. Placeable ItemsFRC has implemented a Placeable Items system. Placeable items available include chairs, tables, carpets, lighting, signs, paintings, games, food, other furniture, and more. See Placeable Items
