I was hoping someone could help me. I was sure there were directions on the forums of taking and viewing screenshots, but I could not find them. Could someone give me brief directions on taking, which folder pics go to and how to view them. I have Adobe Photoshop for viewing. Thanks in advance.

Theres the print screen button on your keyboard, that takes the picture. Then your file will pop up in the NWN forlder. But as for viewing them and posting them, I've never gotten around to doing that so i cant say i know how.

Thanks Clark, I found them in the root NWN folder. I thought they were going to be put in one of the sub folders. Anyway, does anyone know how you post a picture to the forums so you see them instead of a link?

Once you have the screenies in your root folder (for NWN it is in the root, for NWN2 it is in My Documents>NWN2) search for a program called Imageshack. It is as simple as browsing/uploading the file. Once uploaded you can copy the hotlink and boom, all set.

As to linking to the picture, you use the IMG tag instead of a URL tag. You surround the address with (IMG) and (/IMG) except instead of using (parentheses) you use [straight brackets]. The fourth button on the second row of the post editting buttons is the one for posting a picture. Hovering your mouse cursor over the button will display in the status bar the tag set for posting an image as well (at least it will in Firefox, not sure about IE).

What program do you use to convert the .tga files into .jpegs? Imageshack doesn't support the .tga file extension...

the way I do it is this...
make the .tga image full screen.
Press Ctrl + C to copy the image.
Open paint.
paste the image into paint.
Save it as a .jpeg
then you can do whatever you want with it.

Personally, I use irfanview ( www.irfanview.com/). Free, and can open .tgas and save them as other types.

*points to DM aeries* yeah I taught him how to do it, I use a TGA converter now, but to do it Aeries way you gotta open it full screen in your I explorer, or mozzila. ((whichever works)) then ctrl C past it into paint save as .... done then bip on over to Image shack upload, once uploaded right click and share and theres BIG box ontop full of script copy it all and past it into one of our forums here. works like a charm

Wow, this answered every one of my questions.
Haha, maybe now I can actually post pictures in my screenies thread.
Thanks AnvilX for asking, and thank the rest of you for answering!

I was wondering if anyone else has been having this problem and if so if they know of a fix. Lately when I take screenies it has been hit or miss (mostly miss) if they get saved to my hard drive. It appears that everything is fine when I take the screenie, but when I go into my NWN folder they are not there and on the odd occasion they are. I have checked my hard drive to see if somehow they are being saved in a different file, but besides finding one screenie in a temp file, all the rest have been lost. Anyone have any insight into this? Thanks in advance.

I've had similar trouble; I've found that cleaning out the screenshots from my main Neverwinter Nights menu (whether by moving them, deleting them, or otherwise) seems to solve it, temporarily at least.

Are you using a wireless keyboard or one that works off a USB connector? I've noticed they dont seem to work properly when the screen capture function is connected to the default key command. I've switched it in my controls options to use asterik on the num pad and that seems to always work now.

I always have the problem of it randomly taking screenshots. I just hit print screen three or four times in succession. Generally guaranteed two shots from it.

Ashaffer has also recommended that I change it in the control options. So, I will give that a try. I never considered that it could have something to do with it being wireless. Thanks for the input.

Not so sure it is a wireless issue.
I run a wireless mouse/kepboard and have never had trouble capturing a screenshot.
But worth a try at least.

The problem has just started recently and I have been wireless for several months now....
I Googled the problem and came up with nothing... so at this point its the best I have going.
I will test it tonight and if it works I will post. That way if another has a similar problem they may try it and see if it works.

I had the problem of my screenshots not taking sometimes as well. I stopped running Xfire but I'm not sure if that helped or not. I thought it was the culprit but I never did figure out if it was. My ability to take screenshots improved but I may have done something else in the process like moving the old screenshots to another folder or binding the Screen Shot key again.

Well I tried remapping and it did not work. It was suggested that perhaps I had too many screenies and it would not save anymore..... so I moved all the screenies to a new file.... *drum roll* and I can take screenies again ;D So, evidently (at least on my PC) there is only a finite amount of space that screenies are allowed. So if anyone has problems saving screenies you may want to cut and paste to a new folder and see if that helps. Weird thing happened, after I moved the screenies and tried to log on to see if the screenies would work... a NWN config program popped up and tried to trouble shoot any problems. I did not want anything changed fearing I may screw something up. So, I canceled out and and it worked just fine.

Using irfanview, you (1) open a screenshot, (2) click "File", (3) click "Save As", (4) choose your favorite uploadable file format and file name, (5) click save.
And there you have it, screenshot in a readily viewable and uploadable format.

if you use 11view freeware it contains a converter. You can select all tga files and select override and how good you want the resolution, click ok... and sit back and let it covert all those tgas to jpgs. www.stratopoint.com/11view_download.htm

Give me an example of how to type in a "uploadable file format" You know I don't know crap about this stuff, and need my hand held. Tell you what..help me out some more...and Ten will never pick on Rigrin's hair.....much.

Tell you what..help me out some more...and Ten will never pick on Rigrin's hair.....much. With photobucket...all you do i hit the upload button to your own photobucket. Then you click in the IMG code box which gives you this; IMG]http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s125/moulinous/redneck17uf.jpg[/IMG] I took off one of the brackets so you could see what it gives you. That above with bracket makes the img. The below is with the bracket. And yes, you can do images or avatars that move such as... Hope that helps. To upload the image just use the upload feature on photobucket and find it in your NWN folder.

Yeah I have used that to post some RL pics. Seem to transfer rather easily. But the screenshots need some conversion or something to actually do it from there. As I said..I suck at the screenies. Thanks though man..will tinker on it more.
