After examining the liquid Gardrak shouts, "Treachery Ahmed! This is magically enhanced frog poison! Quick if you have any poison neutralization magics now is the time for those hurting the most. I've also heard tell that eating charcoal can help cure people of the effects of this poison."
Gardrak makes a point to warn those not suffering from the effects that the sweat and blood of victims are contagious until they are treated. He also makes a point to tell everyone that paralysis or death are the future of those untreated and for everyone to begin eating charcoal to be safe and to cure those suffering. Gardrak then casts layers of protective magics such as protection from alignment, protection from elements, premonition, and empowered spells of toughness, strength, and dexterity.
Upon finishing he looks at Ahmed and asks, "Shall I port over to the Tethys to warn them?"

*aboard the Tethys* Alexandria would be trying to assist in the longroom as a priestess to neutralize/remove or cure poisons, sickness or disease.*

Jula makes sure all messages gets sent over to the tub. She then takes control of the ship. "I want this ship searched. Don't miss an inch. I want all mages to use true sight. If you do not recognize a person I want them held for questioning, and their name checked against the ships roster. If you find anything else of note I want to know about it. Drop anchor we are not moving until I get answers."
She then finds the bosun's mate. "I want you to blow that whistle and alert everyone on board we have an emergency, and make sure the tub can hear it too. I am going to check on the Captain, and get a mage on board this ship now to save our Captain! I don't care how you do it, but it better happen! Do you understand?"
The fear and worry can plainly be seen in her eyes as orders are given. She turns and runs to the longroom, pushing anyone aside that gets in her way. Once she reaches the room she sits next to his bed. Gently taking his hand in hers. "I promise we will find out who has done this, and they will pay dearly for it. You just rest, and make yourself well. We've been through much worse than this before. You can't leave me. You fight this, and show who ever is responsible that they can't take us down so easily." Tears slide down her cheeks, as she wipes the sweat from his brow with a cool cloth.

She would feel his hand close in response around hers. "Lass, make sure everyone is safe, save t-them. Find out who's done this and make the bastard walk the plank..." He whispers tiredly, shivering as yet another trickle of blood streaks from his nose "I want them executed on the spot, no one kills a member of my crew and gets away with it...poor Charley..." His eyes drift closed again, he tries to rest, whispering to himself.

Jula nods to his words."Don't you worry. They will be found and I will take great pleasure in personally executing their sorry arses.
She then turns to Alexandria "If you save him I will make sure you are rewarded. I am holding you responsible for his life. Keep me updated on his condition. If he gets any worse send word to me. He will not die alone."
The six and half foot tall woman stands. Her muscles straining against her leathers. Her black hair a tousled mess. Her jaw set in determination as she walks towards the door. Anger, and rage in her coal black eyes. She fights her own rage brewing dangerously close to the surface.

Eventually the crews of the Tub and Tethys begin to figure out what's going on and move into action. Those who have been poisoned are treated with herbs, antidotes and have neutralize poison spells cast on them, and those who are still well are munching charcoal on Gardrak's suggestion. Anyone who has been poisoned and have had spells cast on them are still weak, but the internal bleeding has stopped. Both the ships are searched from top to bottom, from stern to bow and everyone is questioned.
On the Tub, two sailors drag a young woman up on weather deck who no one recognizes. She can be no more than sixteen years old, and she's crying and struggling to get loose, but the sailors hold her firmly. Apparently, she has been hiding in the cargo deck where the sailors say she had a small stash of food, several invisibility potions and vials of frog venom. They call for Gardrak and Alexial.
On the Tethys, a young man, no more than sixteen years old is found hiding in the cargo deck. He too has a stash of food, several invisibility potions and vials of frog venom. The Tethys' sailors haul him up on deck, presenting him to Jula. The young man struggles and attempts to flee, but one of the sailors holding him punches him in the face. He bites his lip, glaring and spitting out blood.

Gardrak tells the young woman to stop struggling and then casts flesh to stone on her until he can prepare the right mind magics so that a proper interrogation can occur. Upon successfully turning the woman to stone he has her taken to Ahmed's quarters to ensure her safety in the meantime.

"Remain on the Tub."
Ahmed would make a round, casting the restorative spells needed to cure those of their ailment. He is however quite judicious with spell expenditure, telling the none-essentials to eat coal. Only at their worst would Ahmed apply a spell.

Recovering after having been cured by the attentions of the priestess but seemingly weakened, the Captain is conversing with Perdan about the boy they found while Perdan is helping him to his own cabin.
"How old is he?"
"Can be no more than 16 sir."
Neckan grimaces "Still old enough to know better!" He coughs and sighs. "Tell Mistress Star my recommendations. She has three choices after he's been questioned...1 - hang him if she feels it necessary to do so. 2 - Cast him adrift, 7 days rations and let the sea sort him out. 3 - Throw him in the brig and when we reach Matzica, we maroon him...but I'm not inclined to be merciful to one who tried to kill us all and murdered one and I know the crew won't be either." He lays back in his own bed as he is helped into his cabin. "16 is old enough to know the difference between right and wrong but not old enough to think on it with any maturity. I'd be leaning to casting him adrift. I'll support by any choice she makes though. She is her own woman."
"Aye sir. I'll let her know. Get some sleep."
"Check on Mister Yarrick please and everyone else, make sure they are all resting."
Perdan nods and shuts the door as the Captain, tired from talking, is soon resting and deeply-asleep.

*smirks at gardrak* Once you are ready restore the lady for questioning and do whatever you feel is required to get answers. I'll leave her to you till you are satisfied there is nothing more you can learn from her. Depending on the answers we acquire will depend on her fate. *Alexial returns to the deck of the tub to make sure those who where effected by the poison are on the mend*

Jula looks the boy over after hearing the Captain's recommendations. "You think it's fun to try and poison a whole ship boy? What was you planning on doing once everyone was dead?" She draws her sword and holds it towards the boy. The way I see it you either answer my questions or you die. A very slow painful death. What is your name boy, and who hired you? How much was you paid boy?

Gardrak begins preparing mind magics to interrogate the prisoner undisturbed in Ahmed's quarters. Upon finishing he gazes at the statue lovingly. "Oh yes. You're going to fit in fine with my collection," he states, "don't fret your fate when I'm done getting the information. I'll make sure you're nice and safe my precious."
He strokes the statue's cheek as he gazes into its lifeless stone eyes.
Then he summons two burly sailors. Next Gardrak casts stone to flesh on the girl as the two sailors hold her in place. As the girl returns to flesh Gardrak dominates her mind with dominate monster. Gardrak stares at her and asks, "Now then young lady. Who sent you? Why did you poison this crew? Whatever was your plan after we'd all died?"

She draws her sword and holds it towards the boy. The way I see it you either answer my questions or you die. A very slow painful death. What is your name boy, and who hired you? How much was you paid boy? The boy glares silently at Jula, keeping his mouth a thin line. He closes his eyes, grimacing in anguish. "Wasn't paid anything, I had no choice." He looks up at Jula with grim determination, but when he speaks he slurs the words. "Didn't think anyone would die. Didn't mean to kill him, but he saw me and tried to hurt me. Was told the poison wasn't that strong, only so people would get sick, no one would die, just teach you a lesson, delay the ships, and then I'd slink off in the docks when you reach Baldur's Gate." He furrows his brows, sweaty trickling down his forehead. "You're not going to Baldur's Gate, are you?" he grits his teeth, knowing the answer. His gaze darts down at the floor, and his voice slows down, choosing his words more carefully. "I was... sent by an old man with long hair, looked like a spell-slinger. He was smoking a pipe and wore Ilmateri robes, but I figured that was just an act when he spoke of poisons. He told me he worked for the Westshore Company. " He goes quiet again, keeping his gaze down. I'll make sure you're nice and safe my precious." Whatever was your plan after we'd all died?" The girl turns back to flesh and looks around in panic. She tries to run away, but the sailors hold her in place. As Gardrak reaches into her mind, the panic fades away, her body goes limp and she takes on a vacant expression. The sailors stand back a bit, as they no longer need to hold her. "The Ilmateri priest from the Westshore Company sent me." she says in a dull tone. "I poisoned your crew to save my mother. My mother is ill and the priest will pay for the spells and cures required. We did not plan to kill anyone, the poison is not that strong. We would sneak off the ships when you reach Baldur's Gate."

Gardrak sighs and says, "Foolish child. I hope that your mother still lives and that the so called 'Ilmateri' didn't kill her to tie up loose ends. You should have wondered about the contradiction of what he asked you to do with what his appearance suggested."
Gardrak gets all information about herself, her name, her mother's name, where they live, and the mother's illness. Then he motions for the burly sailors to take hold of the girl and after they do so he ends the domination. "If I can help her I will," Gardrak states, "However, you must know that poison was magically enhanced to be deadlier than it was on its own. Now please strike a pose that will make it easier to transport you and if we're all lucky and successful you will see your mother before you know it."
He gestures for her to lay down and if she does so he casts flesh to stone on her followed by shrink item and puts the mini statue into his bag of holding. Then he seeks out Ahmed and relates the information she told him about her actions aboard the tub.

Jula just shakes her head. "You silly, silly boy. Everyone has choices, you had choices. You just don't seem very good at picking the right ones. We are not going there, but you already knew that didn't you? Now tell me why you felt you had no choice. Did this man threaten you? Is he holding something over you?"
She puts the sword away, and kneels down so she's not towering over the boy. Her harsh voice, softening. "Look you are guilty of murder son. You are on my ship where the only laws that count are the laws of the sea's. My Captain lays weak and recovering right now in his bed. By all rights this is my ship now to command. I can do with you as I please. Do you understand me son? I can't help you if you don't give me all the facts. Don't be foolish enough to lie to me. We will find out the truth one way or another. So how about we do this the easy way, and you tell the truth the first time. I want to give you the same chance I was given by our Captain. As it stands right now I can't do that. Everyone on board this ship wants blood in payment for your crimes. They want your blood. I think enough blood has been spilled." She motions at the all the blood and mess. "Don't you? So tell me why you felt you had no choice in this matter. Tell me everything you know now and we will see what we can do about this."
She motions to the sailors. "Has there been any word from the Tub?"
Her eyes goes back to the boy. "Did you poison the food on the other ship that sails with us? Is there anyone else helping you?"

Finally conscious, Yarrick lays in his assigned bunk in sick bay, occasionally sitting up, though in his current weak state even this is a struggle. occasionally, when he thinks the ship's doctor isn't looking, he takes a nip of rum from a bottle secreted beneath his bed sheets.
Dimly aware of the chatter around him of the capture of a teenage lad, Yarrick pipes up and asks his crewmates
"So what's the name o' this stowaway? Not called Derick is he?"

She's sixteen years old and works in the Docks as an errand girl, her mother's name is Bersace, they live in the Semport Docks District near the Siren's Abode where her mother works, and her mother is sick with great pox. Ravace is confused when the domination spell ends and Gardrak tells her to strike a pose, but lies down when he tells her to. As Gardrak turns her to stone, shrinks and puts her into a bag, the sailors mutter disapprovingly about the girl getting away for murder, and walks for the door. Jula just shakes her head. "You silly, silly boy. Everyone has choices, you had choices. You just don't seem very good at picking the right ones. We are not going there, but you already knew that didn't you? She's doing this to help her sick mother. We knew the Ilmatari wasn't a priest, but he seemed like he had the money to help... The way he talked to us, to her... She didn't want to disappoint him, like he was an old friend to her, but she had never seen him before. I couldn't let my friend do this alone, and the old man wanted two persons anyway, one on each ship." He goes quiet a moment, biting his lip. "Don't hurt Ravace, she means everything to me." He also says his name is Fodoric, and that he met the "ilmatari priest" in the Docks when he was talking with Ravace near the Westshore Company's ship, the Mithral Queen. The "Ilmatari priest" said that he'd come and take Ravace with him on his ship one day, and show her the seas and the world. He didn't seem Lantanese, but was probably from Amn or the Nelanther Isles.

By no means is she escaping punishment unless you think being turned to stone for me to enjoy later is a blessing. If you do, well perhaps you'd like to join her? I can always use more statues in my gallery."

Jula orders the boy to held in the brig, and not to be harmed. "Send a message to the tub. Inform them about the girl, and if they have found her. I want an update of her status. Inform them we have the boy, and will be holding him in the brig until I figure out exactly what we are going do with him. I want two people to take the skiff and the new net and start catching us some dinner. We can't risk eating any of our stores now. I know many of you love to fish so relax and enjoy fishing for now. Someone clean up this mess. Stay close to the ships with the skiff just in case we get attacked.
She turns and head the captains quarters. "We found a boy who tells an interesting story of why he poisoned us. There is a girl on the tub, but I have yet to hear from them about her. I sent a message though, hopping we hear from them soon. The boy said he was sent by an old man with long hair, looked like a spell-slinger. He promised to return for the girl someday and take her on his ship and show her the many things you have shown me. For some reason the boy said the man told him to slip off the ships in Baldur's Gate. He told the boy that the poison wouldn't kill anyone. It was just to slow us down. I have him in the brig for now. What do you think?

The Captain is now awake and sitting up in bed drinking wine and eating an apple from his hidden cache, he still looks tired as he listens to her but seems more like himself "So it's looking like it's the Mithral Queen, good I have notes I made on her weaponry. Sounds like the two have been hoodwinked by this fakery, but still, they agreed to using poisons and they aren't smart, mature or wise enough to know the consequences of that. Had an enemy ship attacked us while we were laid low with this poisoning we would have been a sitting, incapacitated target, they could have walked in and slaughtered us all. In fact, part of me's wondering if that was the plan...however...seems they planned to kill us outright" He bites off another piece of apple "They have committed murder, the lad killed a Hin half his size. The crew will want blood for this, but I'm disposed to casting them adrift or marooning them and the crew knows what this means. In some ways it's better and worse then hanging, there's a chance both of them will die if the gods don't favor them and it could be a slow death...though right now we don't know if the Tub will free the girl or execute her. These kids...their employer is a worse evil...when I think of it, the half-orc, these two, they're been used, had their moral weakness preyed upon. The boy should stay in the brig in irons for now, water and stale bread only. Let him think on his crime and maybe he'll remember some more. Inform the crew that the lad will be punished in due course once he's said all he can say, he's an enemy prisoner and will be treated like one" He reaches for his clean shirt, easing into it and doing up his buttons and as he does so he looks out of the window at the skiff and the fishing sailors passing by, making a sweep with the new net. Despite feeling terrible, he offers Jula a smile "Good order, Mistress Star, we will need new stock...and get Old Luc to man the galley while I try and call poor Charley back. I hope for the boy's sake he answers. I'll check on Mister Yarrick while I'm down in the Longroom"

Glancing up when the Neckan Blake enters the room, Yarrick hails him weakly. "Hello Cap'n good to see yer up and runnin'. Nasty bout o' flu that" he says with a knowing grin on his face. "So the lad was what done it eh? I'd give 'im a right hiding if I was up on me feet. Well I reckons they must o' had a plan fer when we was all dead. Mebbe come to board us. At least the boy must have had some kind of plan o' escape. May be worth askin' what he thought was going to happen afterwards." Yarrick scratches the back of his head, taking a sip of rum when he thinks Captain Blake isn't looking. "O' course it may be they wanted ter board us once we're no threat, maybe we can give 'em that. Hide our crew below deck, make it seem we're adrift, then when they come to gather their pickings of the Tethys BAM, we hits 'em with an ambush. Overcome 'em by surprise an' see who's really after us."

Overcome 'em by surprise an' see who's really after us." "Aye, flu..." The Captain rolls his eyes as he leans against a table "Not my first time, doubt it'll be the last. Advised Mistress Star to keep him in the Brig for now, I'm thinkin' a spell in the cells might loosen his tongue, he's damn lucky I haven't hung him for that..." He gestures at the sad sight of the shroud-covered feet of Charley poking out of a partitioned area "I'm going to make an attempt, so don't jump out o'your skin if he suddenly pops up yellin'..but I don't know if he'll answer. I never do." He listens to his crewman's thoughts "I like your thinking. It struck me that might've been their plan, said the same to Mistress Star...reckon we may keep some crew ready to get below armed for a coupla hours, keep the watch's eyes open...be on the safe side, aye? I'm a touch concerned if it's truly the Mithral Queen, she's fair-armed...but we're fast and there's two of us." Amused, he subtly notes the sneaky rum-guzzling and pulls out a bottle of Seafoam Rum "Won't be needin' this then, aye lad?" He winks and leaves it by his bed "Get on deck when your head's clear, keep watch on all sides...I want to know if so much as a seagull farts near us." The Captain moves to the partitioned area and begins preparations to call on Charley to return, moving seamlessly from his role as Captain to Priest.

*meanwhile on the tub* Mister gardrak if you could inform the tethys of our status so we can get on our way again. Tells the crew to make ready to sail once the Tethys gives order to make way. *looks off into the distance with spotting scope since they have been sitting awhile dealing with the sick* Alexial speaks to gardrak once more,"I assume the little girl has been dealt with?" It is now early afternoon, and the weather is clear and sunny with decent winds. Behind the Tub and Tethys, on the eastern horizon, Alexial spots a ship approaching. She can't make out any details at this distance. If the two expeditionary vessels remain still and the winds doesn't change, the approaching ship will likely reach them within a few hours. The crew of the Tethys would also notice this. "Aye, flu..." The Captain rolls his eyes as he leans against a table "Not my first time, doubt it'll be the last. Advised Mistress Star to keep him in the Brig for now, I'm thinkin' a spell in the cells might loosen his tongue, he's damn lucky I haven't hung him for that..." Charley, the halfling cook, lies still on a cot with his hands on his stomach. His expression calm, like he was asleep after a second breakfast. He has bruises on his throat, his curly brown hair is more tousled than usual, and he is cold to the touch. Captain Blake chants holy words over Charley, asking Valkur to bring the halfling back to the world of the living. Charley remains unmoving, he is not answering.

Captain Blake chants holy words over Charley, asking Valkur to bring the halfling back to the world of the living. Charley remains unmoving, he is not answering. Yarrick would see the Captain's shoulders sink, a hand goes up over his eyes. For a long moment, the Captain stands quietly before he speaks a prayer. "There sleeps one who took his chances in this cruel and tragic hell, battled luck and circumstances, loved and laughed, he fought and fell. Victor, then he did no braggin', wounded then he did not wail, cussed and swore but kept on going, never let his courage fail. He was fallible and mortal, therefore loved and understood, by his fellow men and women, whether good or not so good. Kept his spirit undiminished, had a laugh for every friend. Fought for freedom till it finished, lived loved and laughed until the end"He touches Charley's shoulder and whispers. "Good night, Mister Baggywrinkle and thank you" before he covers the hin's body with the shroud and seals it. The Captain looks up as a one-eyed dwarf hurries in "Cap'n, lookout says a ship on the horizon..." Blake nods to Yarrick, meaningfully "Upstairs when you can, lad" He leaves following the dwarf swiftly up the stairs and at the gangway and promptly bellows: "Lookout! Eyes on that vessel, I want its identity! Get the skiff back aboard with the catch and all hands on deck! Mistress Star, advise the Tub to prepare to make sail!"

He touches Charley's shoulder and whispers. "Good night, Mister Baggywrinkle and thank you" before he covers the hin's body with the shroud and seals it.
The Captain looks up as a one-eyed dwarf hurries in "Cap'n, lookout says a ship on the horizon..."
Blake nods to Yarrick, meaningfully "Upstairs when you can, lad" He leaves following the dwarf swiftly up the stairs and at the gangway and promptly bellows:

Yarrick nods and rises from his bunk, unsteady at first but gradually gaining a firm foothold on the rolling ship. Looking at the body of the hin he says "Here's to your last shore leave Charley. Make it a good one"
Taking the bottle of seafoam rum left by the captain he drips some into Charley's mouth from about a foot and then takes a swig himself. He then follows the Captain upstairs, ready to attend to his duties.

Gardrak looks to Alexial and says, "The girl has been effectively neutralized and there is no escape for her. What are the odds that ship is Licios coming back to us?"

Watching the pair chat, Ahmed would frown ever so slightly in the direction of the pursuing vessel. "Better safe then sorry, a plan of action then?"
