*Alexial makes note of signal to sail when given by Tethys* MAKE READY TO SAIL. ALL HANDS ON DECK. *looks to gardrak and ahmed* "Lets hope it is licios returning as that idea sounds far better then alteratives." *Shouts a few more orders* "MAKE READY THE BALLISTA hope we don't need it." "However if I poisoned a crew to death. I would be making plans to follow and board once crew was unable to fight back." I WANT THAT SHIPS IDENTITY SOON AS POSSIBLE *shouting another order*
*would look to direction of the ship and try to judge its course and speed though outrunning it from a dead stop is highly unlikely unless they get lucky* *thoughts race through her mind*

The crews of the Tub and Tethys rush into action once more, making ready to set sail, and the skiff returns to the Tethys with a small catch of fish. Soon the ships begin to move, but the ship on the horizon still moves faster. On both ships, some crew members report that food is missing from the cargo hold, but few take notice of this in the current situation. On the Tub, sailors remind Gardrak, Ahmed and Captain Alexial that the Tethys sent a message asking about a girl, and that they have captured a boy as well.
On both the ships, the crews discuss the approaching ship.
"It's the Harpers, I knows it!" says one sailor on the Tethys, and bets two bottles of rum. "They're comin' fer the Thayans!" "Idiot, the Harpers work from the shadows." says another, and bets for the Zhentarim. "Who then? The Mithral Queen? Didn't they leave Semport before we did? I bet it's some other company." "Why would they poison us anyway? We haven't done 'em anything." "I told ya, it's 'cause of the Thayans! They don't want the competition." "They wouldn't want to make enemies with Thay, now would they? Perhaps someone pissed off the Mithral Queen without knowin', aye?" "Aye, who did?" "I don't know anyone on these ships who's had dealin's with the Westshore Company before. If they have, they've been quiet." "Gods damn it all... What if the Cornucopia and that siren bitch we're working for stepped on their toes?" "Can you people be quiet! The lookout's shoutin' something!"
Everyone quiets down and looks up at the crows nest. The lookout adjusts his telescope, shouting down to the crews below.
"Too small for the Mithral Queen galleon!"
There's a murmur among the crew, with several "told ya so", and bottles of rum being exchanged.
"Three masts! It's a carrack with three masts. Richly decorated, gold glitterin' figurehead!"
"It's not the Black Jewel then." says one sailor, grudgingly passing a bottle over to another.
The lookout shouts again. "It's the Golden Redeemer! Captain Voskar Mellkabbar's ship!"

The lookout shouts again. "It's the Golden Redeemer! Captain Voskar Mellkabbar's ship!" "Signal the Tub, make sail! Mister Yarrick, Mister Ajax load all weapons! Mistress Star, bring her about and place her between the Tub and the Redeemer, get under way as soon as all is secure....move it! Mister Perdan, take 1O men below and arm them, position them by all stairs and entries and wait there! Jasper, I want weather control ready to use! I'll leave you to choose something seasonal and concealin'..." The Captain stands on the quarter deck bellowing "LOOKOUT! If they should get close enough tell me if they're armin'! I want that boy up on deck now, bring him to me" He opens up his telescope and stares at the ship.

Jula nods to the captain. As you wish.
She brings the ship around, placing her between the oncoming ship and the Tub. Muttering to herself. Well they know at least someone on board is alive now, and well enough to move this ship.

The captain writes out a quick message.
Lookout for hostile actions, plan to see if he fires on us, if he does we have a plan. Be ready use weather control and keep a concealing state about you. Play dead if you see him arm, make him think we're limping in to a mist to die. Take arms and conceal below. We shall ambush.
C-NB
A canister is fired over to the Tub deck.

*Alexial shouts a few orders to the crew of the tub* LET THE TETHYS TAKE THE LEAD STAND READY FOR A FIGHT IF THEY WANT ONE. *looks to gardrak* Mister gardrak can you send word to the Tethys that the girl we found is no longer a threat to this crew. Where is Kathy could use her on deck? Likely will need a few spells if this turns into a fight. *shouts final orders once message is received* Anyone that isn't required to get this ship moving below deck and arm yourselves stay out of sight till I give the word. Keep the sails loose for now make ready to tighten them. We want them to think we are sickened and hurting.

The two crews does as ordered, preparing for combat hidden below deck, and keeping ballistaes and weather spells at the ready. The Tethys manevours behind the Tub, to protect it from the approaching ship.
The lookouts report that the Goldeen Redeemer does not appear to be arming for combat, but they have a Lantan sun mirror on board. As the ship comes closer, one can see the figurehead glittering in the sunlight; a golden mermaid, similar to that of the Black Jewel. A lookout in the in the crowsnest keeps watch on the Tub and Tethys, and signals down to someone below. The Goldeen Redeemer keeps its course, approaching the expeditionary vessels at good speed.

A halfling is sent scurrying down a hatch to let them rest of the armed crew know that should they see the Redeemer draw close enough to board and battle commence to prepare to rush the deck and attack. The Captain orders Jasper to begin disrupting the weather and raise any kind of mist or cloud around them. Casting Greater Sanctuary, the Captain is afforded a better view of what is approaching, he watches the Sun Mirror like a hawk...his hand raised.

Julia slips up next to the captain. "I am starting to think this is the worst trip we have ever made. What do you think they want with us?"

The Captain frowns. He breaks his sanctuary amid crawling over to Jasper and members of his crew, he whispers "How long can you keep this up, Jasper? They're acting like a wary hyena right now, crawling along behind us as if we might jump out and bite them, they're not going to pass by and leave us be so we may as well come to a slow stop...make them think the poison is acting....and wait till they get close enough to board, if your spell is still going at least they can't use that blasted sun mirror and it's between us and them. Inform the Tub when I give the signal of a lightning bolt to cut across our bow to starboard and fire from their starboard side aiming for the sun mirror." He begins to write a message. "To the Captain of our pursuers, salutations.
Our crews are mostly dead, our Captain is expiring and our food rations gone. Your saboteurs shall soon be hung from the yard arms starboard side if you'd like to watch. Pass by and let us die in peace or we shall hull both ships rather than you take what little that isn't yours. Congratulations on backstabbing innocent sailors, sure your gods are very proud and please do go **** yourselves.
Regards, The Tethys."He pushes the note into a canister and loads it into a ballista but doesn't fire it yet. He ducks down "That may get a reaction if I have to use it...lying is a terrible habit" He looks at a deckhand seriously "Really, don't lie, lad. You may end up Captain."

A red parrot flies from the Redeemer towards the Tethys... "Sir!" A lookout warns Blake. The Captain looks up, uttering one word in Midani "... cgo." He removes his hat, stands and tracks the bird's movements. "Two men...get a net and be ready to use it...I want it caught unharmed. The rest of you stay hidden where you are" He reaches inside his waistcoat and produces ..a kumqat. Cutting the fruit up with a knife, he lifts a hand and waves at the parrot making sure the bird can see what he has. He lays out chunks in the open and crouches nearby. "Down here, come on..."

Captain Voskar Mellkabbar of the Golden Redeemer""Trade! Trade!" the parrot squawks. "Mellkabbar! Mellkabbar!" Blake's eyes narrow, he looks the parrot for a good long moment after reading the message and offers it an arm to crawl up. "Right Miss Sassa, I doubt he would have sent his pet over to be slaughtered in a fight. Parley?" Pulling out his previous message of provocation from the canister, he tears it up and tosses it overboard in shreds and writes a new one. "Captain Melkabbar, salutations.
We have had an outbreak of food poisoning.
You have arrived shortly after the fact. If you wish to come over to discuss the situation maybe we can trade for new food supplies if you have any spare. By the Mighty's name, your safety is guaranteed and you may bring your guard with you.
I'll await your response.
regards, Captain Neckan Blake."
He attaches the note to the bird's leg. "Fair winds, Miss Sassa, hope you enjoyed my snack..." He directs the bird at the Redeemer.
Turning to the crew he passes an order above and below decks. "All stop. Remain in place, advise the Tub to hold position. We shall be under parley unless they show a hostile action. Keep all ballistas at the ready but do not fire unless attacked. If Melkabbar comes over I have a lot of questions for him. Mistress Star, you're with me. Mister Yarrick, take over the deck and direct Mister Perdan to keep the armed company concealed below."
He looks to a nearby half-orc "Gort, bring the lad up out from the Brig and make him look at the Redeemer, I want to know if he recalls that ship."
"Aye sir!"

Gort returns with the boy, and the boy watches the ship a long moment and then shakes his head. He has never seen the ship before. "That's not the Ilmatari's ship, that's not the Mithral Queen." Gort also says that the boy admitted to him of having dumped food into the sea over the past five days. The parrot flies back to captain Mellkabbar, and soon the Golden Redeemer turns towards the two vessels. It's an elegant carrack, and looks almost exactly like one might imagine the Black Jewel may have looked one day. They have a large ballista and a Lantan sun mirror on deck, and many of the crewmen carry Lantan clockbows. The Redeemer comes broadside to the Tethys, and a lightly tanned man with dark windswept hair, a strong jaw with a hint of stubble, and clad in gold trimmed captain's outfit leans on the railing. Squinty dark eyes looks over the Tethys, and he calls over with a thick Amnian accent. "I am captain Voskar Mellkabbar, merchant of Athkatla. Please pardon my cautious behaviour, but there are pirates on these waters, and I do not wish to catch any disease... I did not intend to frighten you, there is no need for any magics." he gestures at the surrounding mists. "But I understand well enough, one cannot be too careful." He remains on his ship, explaining that he has food for sale if they need. A thousand gold should be enough supplies for one day. To the right of him stands his bodyguard, a muscular calishite, and to the left stands a teenage boy that Yarrick would recognize as Derick. The parrot, Miss Sassa, sits on Derick's arm. The bodyguard leans close to Voskar, whispering, and Voskar nods slightly in reply. On the Tub and Tethys, it seems the saboteurs have thrown about five days worth of food into the sea from each ship, and another five days worth of food may be poisoned.

On the Tub, they have about the same amount of supplies left.

"Right, made my decision." He speaks up "I'll take 3 days of extra food if you're agreeable, Captain. I like to err on the side of caution..." He gestures to the boy in chains alongside Gort "Any of your crew recall this boy, on the off-chance?"

Voskar agrees to three days of food, and let's the Redeemer closer to the Tethys so they can trade. Several crates and barrels of food are loaded onto the Tethys, and Voskar asks if the other ship also wants some extra food.

Jula looks from the boy to the Captain. A pained look of pity in her eyes, that he would of never seen before. She goes about helping with the supplies being sent over. She keeps looking back at the boy as she makes sure she stays close enough to hear the Captains response to his question.

Several crates and barrels of food are loaded onto the Tethys, and Voskar asks if the other ship also wants some extra food. The Captain nods "Thank you, just thought I'd ask in passing."He looks back at the young lad with a sober expression and speaks quietly to him "Don't look like that, boy. I'm not going to hang you. Though believe me when I was laying in my bunk being told my cook was murdered, I was angry enough to want to wring your neck" He looks grave "Every soul on this ship is in my care, lad and I take that very seriously indeed, Charley was popular. I'm hoping on the way to our destination you have a good long think about what you've done and so will I. Your thoughtless actions robbed them of their friend and comrade and when we get back, if we get back, I have to tell Charley's family he's dead by your hand." The mariner pauses "When you are ready to tell me your thoughts, you ask the guard to tell me and I'll come and listen and we will talk about your punishment. Gort, take him back down please." The Captain signals the Tub with Voskar's question but does not speak for them.

Gardrak teleports over to the Tethys. "You signaled us," he asks, "We captured the girl that was poisoning our crew on the Tub. I have effectively neutralized her. Before doing so I interrogated her and acquired all of the information necessary as to why she did the deed and who put her up to it. If your saboteur is still alive I would like to add him to my collection."

*meanwhile considering previous plans Alexial would remain on the tub allowing Gargrak to speak on there behalf. Alexial would have informed Kathy to have a spell ready to assist the ship to quick movement so they could gain favorable firing position if any hostile action is taken by the Redeemer.* *Would have also taken the time to inform the rest of the crew to remain below deck, Unless All Hands On Deck command is given. Alexial would return to the wheel of the tub and wait*

*Alexandria aboard the Tethys would inspect any food brought aboard out of sight from the redeemer crew for poison, Don't want to insult the captains new guests* *Alexandria would also keep her Tower Shield handy, slung at her back. ((If there is Any Hostile Actions)) and the redeemer is close enough she could blanket there decks with acidic fog*
