Grumbling, the wizard pulled from his pipe again. He couldn’t believe it – that blasted necromancer had run around with a freaking Angel of Decay, and while he had destroyed the abomination swiftly, there were no charges to press against her for creating such a vile, abominable mockery and running around with it no freaking hundred metres away from the city borders.
He exhaled.
Though close to the city, it had not been within line of sight, there had been a small forest blocking view from the city, and proving if it was created legally certainly would be a hassle no official would go through. His eyes wandered over the Cormyrian laws concerning undeads. There had to be something…
He blinked and rubbed his chin.
You are responsible for any damages that undead you summon cause. If the undead you summon or dominate commit a crime, you will be charged with that crime.
The scene appeared in front of his eyes again.
Zenobia, the Angel of Decay. A nine feet tall creature oozing a vile, corrupting liquid that instantly rotted away anything it touched, and oozed out at such speed from the creature that said liquid tended to cover multiple feet of ground around it.
A grin spread on his face.
There we go.
He quickly grabs another tome concerning the Cormyrian laws and flips through the pages.
The Second Plaint: Crimes Against the Kingdom
…
Littering (Including the relief of human wastes):
- Fine: 500 lions payable to the kingdom
- Imprisonment: Dungeon – Overnight
He gently tilted his head to the side a little.
Maybe it was a stretch, but he was willing to bet most judges would be slightly biased in his favour … so, it was worth a try. Maybe he couldn’t find something allowing him to strike them down, but maybe he could at least be a pain in the ass.
Picking up his quill, he quickly starts to jot down a letter:
To whomever it may concern,
I hereby wish to report a most severe case of littering, one could easily go so far as to say despoiling, the lands of the crown near our fair city of Suzail.
While returning from investigating recent orcish attacks on caravans and travellers north of the capitol for Swordcaptain Merrin, me and a man named Call, Priest of Lathander and currently applying for squireship in the RCMH, came upon a Priestess by the name of Zenobia, who was travelling with the most disgusting undead abomination that even I, an undead hunter in service of Kelemvor, ever laid eyes upon.
The creature, a so called ‘Angel of Decay’ is a nine feet tall abomination from which’s body liquid corruption flows in great ammounts, covering the nearby ground in a layer of rot which quickly dissolves any living matter it comes into contact with.
While I am aware the creation of undeads is not necessarilly unlawful in the Forest Kingdom, I believe that the use of such a creature which literally oozes death and decay no hundred meters away from the city borders is highly irresponsible. The mere thought of any of the vile liquid possible intermingling with the ground water of the city is revolting to say the least, and a possibly lethal threat to Cormyrian citizens to put it bluntly.
Even if such does not happen, may the gods see fit to prevent it, the liquid rot and corruption is still dangerous to the local wild- and plantlife, not to mention possible passersby who might come into contact with it.
Seeing as according to § ((OOC: insert the §-number which would belong to the first quoted law above)) the necromancer is responsible for whatever damage his undeads cause, I would hereby like to inquire if it would be possible to fine Miss Zenobia for her irresponsibility and the resulting littering, pollution and I dare say corruption of the landscape and the risks she exposed the citizens of fair Suzail and the local wildlife to.
For Crown and Country,
Brannon Grayson, Squire, Royal Corps of Monster Hunters, Fifth Mirtul 1372
Grinning he mumbles a cantrip to make his mage sigil appear below his signature and finishes up the letter before heading out the door to deliver it to the courts.
//Yes, I’m sueing you necromancers for littering. Take that!
Just in case the DMs don't have Libris Mortis at hand, or if to safe em some work, here's the paragraph concerning the rot streaming from the Angel of Decay:
