My guess is it was a DM and if it was I don't know who, but Atticus and Glewien came across a really tough orc that I wouldn't expect to be where we found it. Having a deep hatred for orcs, he just fired on it blindly without thinking. When I found out how tough he was I was about to run until it started mouthing off to us. That's when Atticus started thinking, "Alright, I ain't taking that from an orc." So we stood our ground and FINALLY beat it, thanks to Glew shooting it while all Atticus could do was get it to chase him by taunting it. Guess he didn't get his revenge that day. ;D All the same, it was a BLAST! Had me fearing for my life a couple times. Thanks. Now that I've gotten my first taste of going up against a DM on this server, if it was in fact one fighting us, I'd really like to hear any past experiences of people going up against these gods of our's. My favorite part about it was the threats the orc was giving us.

I really haven't had many interactions with the DMs other than having uber tough creatures dropped in, attacking and in some cases killing me, hehe, but one in particular comes to mind... It wasn't exactly fun (I laugh about it now), but scared the heck out of me... I was with a couple of others going through the Dragonmere ruins... I hadn't been there in a long time, so when we noticed different creatures we hadn't seen before, much stronger than what I remembered I assumed OOC that the area was reworked... Ranan was saying to others he thought some kind of gate had opened allowing these beasts in. So we get all the way to the final room and battle the slaads, it was a tough fight but we made it through. While the others were looting, Ranan happened to wander into the portal room and was shocked as he was greeted by a Balor Lord!! Ranan tried to command it at first, of course there was no response (Hey he can try, it is RP after all!), so he used every last spell available and buffed to the max attacking the Balor... I am proud to say Ranan lasted quite a long time and neither was making progress, especially since the Balor Lord starting casting all kinds of protections and defensive spells!! The others tried the portal to get out... hehe.. of course it was locked, we couldn't use it to escape. Finally Ranan shouted to the others "run and get a head start"... he would hold off the Balor a moment and then follow. They did, Ranan downed a potion and started running... that Balor must have followed us through most of the maze, chasing us all the way out. We did get away, but man that was nervous time. I also learned a lesson, there is a big difference between a Balor and a Balor Lord! Of course my party was slightly perturbed with Ranan since he had wandered into that encounter before they finished looting, which meant they left treasure behind to get away...

My favorite moment was my first time on the server. Vind, thrulia, Hroth, and Toran battlestriker were going to check out the isinhold crypts. You can read more about it in the regal griffon section on the forums: frc.proboards37.com/index.cgi?board=regalgriffon&action=display&thread=1099593191That was scary, to be level 1 and fighting a lich! Well we tried anyways because that's what hero's do right? Needless to say, we all got slaughtered and luckily Jacob showed up to save the day. Another great time was when we (Vind, I, Melkroth, and maybe two others) ran into a demon summoning girl in the marsh of tun. Turns out she was one of the ones that was wanted by the red ravens. And also turns out that she had a token on her that allowed her to cast gate. Melkroth was the only one that knew what it did, and Hroth was the only one that saw through his lie when he told us that it was useless. Turned into some interesting rp, especially when Balors started showing up and attacking the Silver Shields.

Just wanted to say that that was one of the best moments for me as a player too ;D Glewi was a little worried when an orc champion appeared and began attacking Atticus and her. But when it started beating the crap out of her and she knew it was no match for it, she ran - asking "who are you?" I think it was great the orc replied, and that really added a lot of reality and good fun to the whole doomed encounter. It took a lot of running around, taunting on both sides, before that encounter was over. And i must say, whichever DM was controlling that one, he made it good fun - instead of running away, Atticus and Glewi worked well together to put a good fight and trick it into running into several traps we laid out. Thanks for the fun - that's the last time I kill orcs and call them slow and stupid

Hummmmmm So that was who was causing all the demon attacks in Isinhold huh? And to think people thought we DM's were attacking Isinhold.

Aelrik has had many a good moment thanks to the DM's - as well as a few 'Sabremoe(ments)' - Heh - Sabre gets my nomination for honorary DM! This particular venture took place in the Isinhold crypts, travelling with the Lady Aeris. It was some time ago so sadly a detail or two is blurred in my memory but it went down something like this... We had cleared the bulk of the entry level and as we were about to venture down to the lower depths we encountered several creatures from the lower level streaming up the stairs and into the hallway. At the time I recall thinking that someone had fled the area recently and these creatures were just in 'residual' pursuit...after clearing the hallway of these beasties however I was a little disturbed to see a 'hooded shade' appear through the doorway and turn to attack us... Having never seen anything of the likes, Aelrik stood to fight while calling for Aeris to fallback...after she had cleared the hall Aelrik also turned and fled, slamming the door behind him...it was at this point another character entered into the area. (I believe this too was Glewien, but it was so long ago I could be mistaken) After a brief exchange and a warning of the danger down the hall this character expressed her confidence and opened the door to the hallway...the hooded shade entered the room but seemed to disregard us all as it walked through the room - thinking that it was heading toward the exit back to Isinhold we pursued the shade and in the ensuing combat the shade was killed...however the 'confident' woman we encountered was killed as well. Although she respawned, we Rp'd the scene...Aelrik carried her fallen body while Aeris opened the doors and slew the few zombies in our path on the way out of the crypt...we took the body to Merriss, laying it gently at his feet. He then looked up and asked the druid if there was anything he could do (although at this point I was still unsure of whether or not a DM was actually around, my doubts were quickly dispelled) Merriss responded that it looked grave indeed, but that he would certainly make the attempt...he examined the body...we stood on in silence, watching as he performed his rites and raised the body of the fallen woman. (pulled her from the fugue and restored XP & GP lost) After it was all done we thanked Merriss for his efforts and went on about our RP day. While not a major plot event or anything, this intervention turned an ordinary expedition into the Isinhold crypts into a real adventure. I never did catch the name of the DM who made this all possible, but I thank ye as well as the whole DM Staff for all of their efforts...ya just never know what is going to happen! (DM Gustyrill was the one playing with you both last night by the way! Ye are lucky to be alive!) ((Edit - I think it was Gusty anyway - I saw him in the player list when I logged on last night - I guess it still COULD have been anyone though!))

Why am I not surprised? And I most certainly do count myself lucky. That was tough. And I don't think I'll ever just fire on an orc again without thinking about it. Cause and effect. Cause: Atticus sees orc. Effect: Kill orc or die trying.

The best moments I've had with DMs is the whole Mask thing. Rich and Gallin know what I'm talking about. Each time, it just gets better and better!
Also, the one time Gallin sent a message via tiny, tiny mouse that I could hardly see. That was fun.
Oh yeah! There was also the first DM quest-thingy that took place in the Isinhold crypts where Galia, I believe, was kidnapped, Sabre played the bad guy, and Valan got a group of us to go down and get our butts kicked by the uber powerful. Yeah... Fun times.

Hahaha.... Melkroth would do no such thing... LIES LIES LIES!! Haha... Actually, I don't remember what I did with that artifact. I think I gave it up to a DM... At any rate, it was fun while it lasted...

How bout a story of a turn about? How bout a story of the pre DM gustyrill aka Thorstein. His character and mine were near inseperatable. Then one day he loses it and wails on this lil snot for bad mouthing his his (thor's) woman. So the guard is called and takes thor and witnessess into the guard quarters to hold a trial. I followed of course and the guard aka DM Richard says "were you a witness"? "well no... but I'm a character witness." "not good enough" and he ports me outside! the nerve! well with a mischievous grin on my face my PC (who shall remain nameless) ran around town telling everyone that thorstein was on trial and where it was and that everyone was needed there immediately. so heres Richard trying to run a trial in the barracks and Pc after PC starts appearing and filling up the chat boxes with .."whats going on" or "thor..what happened". I mean I sent (no exaggeration) at least 20 PC's there. my character sat outside with a big grin and chuckled for days .. well till richard figured out what happened and found me.. but thats another story...

i'd have to say that my favorite dm attack moment was when me (padrin), Marklar, jorban and chril were in the west redmist crypts. dm gallin shows up, casts darkness on us..(we were all maybe lvl 6 or 7 at the time) and spawns a bunch of undead things (i still dont know what they are called but they were impossible). we kill a couple then some mage blasts me with a igm or something like that and i drop like a stone...the rest of the guys run off, regroup and attack again. no one made it out alive that day but it freak me out and it was a blast.

Let's see...well one of my favorites was with Vashal. I believe DM Gusty took over the bard i the Regal Griffon and asked if I 'ad an requests. So Vashal, thought long and hard. And ask for a song about Knights and Dragons. Now any of you that knew Vashal the fact that he had to think abou these two things for his request....well let's just say...Gusty filled the bill sort of and then for weeks afterward Vashal would wave to the bard everytime he walked into the inn. The best part of it all, is somebody ran through the inn in the middle of this. Ran up stairs rested then ran out. Never even noticed that anything was going on. *sighs*Sometimes I miss playing that big dummy.
