I had to force myself to play Randal this entire week so far. =\ That's not normally a good thing either I guess, but I've still managed to have fun while doing so. More importantly, others have had fun with him too (I hope). That's my biggest goal when I get on the game: entertainment, and not for me, but for others.
It just so happens that when I make others smile and make them feel entertained, then I grow content. =)
It's been hard playing a paladin. There was a point OOCly I couldnt just because my energies were just drained from doing so. Friends asked me many times "Where is Randal?", and I always said "He's around." I'm been striving to keep playing him for friends mostly, and it does make me happy too, so dont get me wrong there hehe.
There's been some current OOC things in my life going on right now thats been making game play real hard too. I dont want to take a "break" from the game or the communtiy either. If I take a break, there is no return. At least not at this current stage in my life. And I really dont want to leave the community.
But when I do play the game with my Tormite, I feel the world of expectations on my back. There aren't many paladin players out there...and ones that do come seem to go quickly, so I wonder if that's an influence: the lack of paladin players causing myself and others to put pressure/expectations. Expectations are good; they are a means to keep one in check and to work diligently (I like working), and pressure is something I just work well under and enjoy the challenges from it all. I chose to play one of the more difficult paladins out there too I guess, so this is to be expected, right? Torm is a strict deity, and being his paladin is very demanding. I like the challenges and the experiences I've been through so far at least. =)
But even if paladins are meant to be exemplars of their deities, that doesn't make them flawless or invincible, does it? Apart of having a good character, in my opinion, is to also have some type of flaw. I consider Randal's flaw to be an ignorant former farmer, and having a heart he can't fully control nor the sound mind to fully grasp certain meanings of things, for he never had influences from other paladins (most specifically that of the Triad.) Though not fallen yet; it can happen. Randal's friends see him at risk I believe, and the DM's (Torm in Randals case) are carefully keeping an eye on him too, I think
Sorry if it seemed like a rant, but I felt certain things needed to be said before the main point =\...
I saw other players post threards about their characters (Like Aria and Entori, and Teneas for example), and how they are doing with them. So I thought about it for a while and decided to ask too, to check in with the community and my friends to make sure they are enjoying the RP so far..
And therefore, the question is;
How is Randal, paladin of Torm. ?
