Looking for some other thoughts on them...
my own is well, obviously that with Cormyr freshly overrun and crippled by orcs... that being a half-orc in Cormyr should be simillar to being a half-white, half-black gay jew in the middle of a KKK rally...
But I've noticed very very few PCs even express a distrust of half-orcs... so I'm wondering where everyone else is sitting in reguards to them.

I treat them all like crap rp wise when playing a dwarf, an elf, a human, a gnome, or a Hin. Player wise though I try and send thema tell every now and then so they know it is rp wise.

NPCs I might agree with. As with most PCs, they hail from other regions and are likely unaware of the current state of cormyr till they arrive. And if the PC is smart, most half orcs will be recognised not as spawn of the recent conquest, but rather conceived some time before the attack.
So no, I wouldn't think it was that bad amongst PCs. I think perhaps for other reasons half orcs might not be trusted, but I do not think cormyr's recent plight should be foremost amongst those.

In other words they are like half-elves in a gold elf community, they are put up with but they are treated with much less respect than others would get much like a smelly kid during high school- He stinks but you have to out up with him.

I think how I react to half-orcs depends upon the character I'm playing.
Example: Kasur is of Lawful alignment, but he is a dwarf. The law of Cormyr protects citizens and licensed adventurers of all races, so he has to respect that law. If a half-orc is obeying the law, Kasur has no choice but to treat him with courtesy. However, Kasur generally does not like half-orcs, or any other kind of orc. It takes some effort on his part to deal with them, and I hope the players of half-orc characters have noticed a tendency for Kasur to treat them in a severely formal manner.
It may be common for adventurers to accept half-orc adventurers, but these half-orcs may be getting glares from the peasantry and see women snatch up their children and run inside when the half-orc comes down the street.
Remember, PC's represent less than a percentage of the overall population, and due to the nature of their work, are generally more interested in the other guy's ability, even if he's of a race the person would rather not be around. After all, even dwarves are tolerated.

I kind of agree with brian, it depends on the character.
Now that is to say I think a lot of people who should be more hostile to half orcs aren't. I think some of it is the game dynamic, we're afraid to be overly rude to a character (please note I say character not player) even though we should want to strangle them.
Its kinda like how any paladin worth their salt should be smiting every necromancer they run into but can't because they would be labled a PKer (and its against the law...which I never understood but different discussion).

One could alwasy offer to "take it outside"... And yeah, pallies should be constantly getting in trouble with that peacebond law... (LG doesn't necessarily mean you always follow the laws of the land, mates -- and LG and CE look a lot alike, sometimes).

However Paladins are expected to follow the laws of a Lawful Good Government, which Cormyr is. Isinhold on the other hand...well...gray area. And Redmist...yeah not even going there.

Point taken. Of course, most pallies with an intelligence of above 6 (which, admittedly, is rather rare) should be able to find some way around the law. A lawful alignment means that you are required to follow the letter of the law, not necessarily the spirit. A "true" LG (one that follows the spirit of the law and serves his/her fellow creatures) is a rare critter indeed -- and those that do exist are often turned into crispy critters by the first bored sorceror that they cross paths with.

A lawful alignment means that you are required to follow the letter of the law, not necessarily the spirit. Not entirly true... someone can be lawful and ignore laws in general, they're just less inclined to. It can be interperted a great number of ways.

*coughs* I have one of those rare paladins with a high intellect score... and I'd make a comment except youre high-jacking the orc thread! *shakes fist grinning* Beyond that, in my experience no two opinions ever agree on paladins, and for FR how the paladin addresses issues depends alot on their diety... so I suggest we not even open this can of worms up...
so... halforcs...

Good points, and I apologize for the accidental hijack. Back to half-orcs.
I generally agree that characters will have a different opinion of them depending on their background, although the true locals would definitely shift a couple degrees towards hostile due to the recent incursion.

My take on this. (personal opinion only, not a DM ruling, as if you'd listen even if it was, ya bastids!)
In general, half orcs are reviled and mistrusted. To me this means most of the NPCs I possess will not like your half orc. NPC guards, for example, will be quick to use force against them, i.e. a backhand slap for being mouthy.
However, adventurers are not like everyone else. They are a rare breed and are, on the whole, insane. Their opinions on many things are different from the general population, starting with how best to earn a living.
Their opinion of half orcs is going to be as varied as they are. Some will hoe the line and dislike half orcs on principle, some won't give a darn, some will actively like half orcs.
If your character doesn't revile half orcs you might want to think why and have that answer handy when you're asked by incredulous commoners, but PCs shouldn't feel like they have to have the same attitude as the rest of the people. Just consider that if you didn't think it out beforehand, then maybe just take the default view and revile them, while sending friendly tells to reassure the player there are no hard feelings behind the characters.
Many people who play half orcs do so because they know the race is persecuted, and may actually be disappointed if you don't treat them badly. On the flip side of that, don't expect to have an easy time with a half orc. Even if you never meet a player character who reviles you (and you probably will), you can be sure that any NPC I play will have a "proper" attitude toward you. Unless they're also an adventurer, then all bets are off.
IMHO, YMMV, etc. etc.

I think I play Vrulo as a fairly convincing half-orc, and yet look at how he's reacted to, not just by friends but by people he barely knows. Few ever utter unkind words to him amongst PC's, it's always NPC's that get lippy with him. Get used to it, it happens to all us tuskers..

Try actually playing a Lawful Stupid character sometime. I have a Half Orc Paladin with a 6 Intelligence. Good luck ever comprehending anything he says and if you ask him to gather all the loot don't be too upset at the end of a trip when he hands you all three "lutes" he's found having left everything not a "lute" behind. He is good though ... and always tries his best to show his flag and give evil a chance to repent first. He is a hard PC to get into a group most times as it seems both Paladins and Half Orcs carry their own stigmas and he's both. then again, he doesn't consider himself orc and he gets upset when people insist on speaking it to him. Luckilly he's not bright enough to catch the true meaning of an insult and usually some sort of hilarity is bound to occur based on his ignorance and others prejudices.
