Thanks to everyone involved there for the short gathering in Isinhold yesterday, it was quite interesting to see the crowd develop particularly when Phel and Ranan stood off. There was a lot going on and a ton of messages coming at me, I hope I acknowledged everyone that tried to interact with me. If I didnt sorry, there was a lot going on at once and I was doing my best. As always Tori was her wonderful self, even if she is making Ranan's personal life a little tough right now. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) Unfortunately, I did want to raise one point which I think people should consider. During this scenario, Ranan was talking and being his charming self to a young lady who had very little idea of who he was. I was somewhat surprised by the number of tells that the player received AFTER Ranan's exchange with her warning her about Ranan and telling the player how evil Ranan is, that he is a high cleric of Bane, not to mention she wouldnt be trusted going forward since she was obviously encouraging Ranan's attention. I really dont care what is said in character but I just to remind people that sending that information via tell is just plain metagaming. If you know its true IC then warn her IC. Also I would suggest that maybe that player WANTED to be surprised when she learned IC who/what Ranan was really all about, if she even did. Anyway I am not upset about it, I almost feel like its common knowledge of his affliation these days since people talk about it ic and ooc so much it really doesnt matter, but I do think it bears importance enough to make note of it.

Aw, that doesn't sound too cool. I definitely understand and am not liking how that would happen. Keep things like that IC for crying out loud. Ha, ha. Too bad I wasn't around to witness it. *smirks* Later.

I think this makes you more infamous than Aria... at least as far as I've encountered people only get warned about her IC...

Heh, same happened to me ages ago, when i had Annael... whenever I would be near your character -Ranan- floads of warnings would crawl via whisper... "get away from him, you can't be near him or he kills you // he is banite he will find about you" and crap like that... That made me feel like i was unable to *defend* my character and i needed the lame outside help for that... Impressive how many unknown peeps seemed to know so much about either my character and yours... ![>:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/angry.png) My advice to those who gets such silly comments... ignore them.

Now, I'll admit, Tori warns the ladies off, 'cause let's face it, Ranan would try and sweet talk all of them. But the tells? Come on people. That's ruining everyone's fun that way. Like Grozer said, tell them IC or let them find out on their own. Just because you want to save the poor unsuspecting lass from a night of fun and a life time of heartache, doesn't mean you should ruin the RP involved.

I'm with Misha on this. Sending tells like that is metagaming at its worst. You're ruining the fun for everyone else. Thankfully everyone kept the warnings to my PC IC. After the fact, of course. ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png)

I always tell them that Ranan is really a Harper and that he likes wet poodles dressed in chain mail bikinis. His favorite food is Danishes, the people not the yummy breakfast food. He only talks to girls to get to their clothes so he can secretly wear them, only reason he became a cleric was to be able to cast hold spells so he could rummage through their bags for pink frilly stockings to be worn at the next Banite Harper meeting. What? you did not know the harpers are really banites? wow, you are out of the loop....see, it aint metagaming when i send these tells, it is information sharing.
on a side note, yeah, bad form. let everyone find out for themselves how cuddly wuddly he is.

I dont care about it in character, heck I laugh so hard when Tori is so public about her comments these days, its great fun... its the ooc part that kinda bugs me, especially if the person sending the tell has no idea about Ranan IC.

I've noticed alot of this happening as well. It just ruins the fun for others and its not just the tells, its also the little things. Disguises arent doing their job, people see right through shadowed hoods, helms seem voice recognisable...i dunno maybe we should refresh everyone on how these things work.

I agree wholeheartedly. Keep it in character folks. And if your character doesn't know...they don't know. No need to send a tell ruining what could have been an interesting roleplay encounter for all involved.. Yes...this is just a game, and well..baseball is a game..there's backyard/sandlot baseball...and there are the major leagues. Consider FRC to be the Major League version of Roleplay. Stay in character.....it's more fun that way! Really! So when is the next One Thousand Shadow Ogrhann Banite Harper Knights of Hope for Kery'ma meeting? And, are the participants wearing the pink stockings? Or the frilly laced wihte ones with the fushia tights? ( I so hope it's the white ones with the fushia tights......they all look so adorable!) (Oh rats..that was ooc info about the true name of their guild..and it was a secret too.....) ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Just yesterday I had a very simlar thing happen when my Cleric of Tiamat was speaking of the wrongess of simply killing Dragons for there hoards. How silly it was for people to speak of slaying a great creature as if they spoke of Kobolds. When asked, he said he served her, the Goddess.. and boy was I AMAZED at how everyone around suddenly knew everything about Tiamat. Even a fighter.. very odd.
I was surprised, because as far as I know, Tiamat isn't really all that well known outside of Chessnta and Thay... yet suddenly we had sages on her faith. ANyway, kind of ruined it for me. I intentionally choose that Goddess based on it's relatively unkown basis.. that, and I'd like to see Dragons portrayed as more then something to kill to get gold.

sometimes I'm guilty of saying something ooc in tells, but I deem tells strictly ooc, and if I say something in it, its for the players FYI as not to be too shellshocked, cause some get very very close to their characters. other then that I'll be accused of chatting ooc to certain friends but they know to keep it ooc.
completely agreeing with everyone here, but sometimes its nice to have a little chat and as long as we keep it ooc thats cool too. just don't be too hard on those who just chat ooc while their going along in character.
but yeah. totally on grozers boat.

*sigh* This was the reason why the team brought up the issue before. I'll state it till I'm blue in the face, passing OOC information about a character -- be it your own or otherwise -- tends to ruin RP. Just don't do it. It's metagamish and poor form. I don't even care if you happen to trust the person cause people have a tendency to talk and say more then they should.
And to the bit of suddenly everyone knowing Tiamat? People, please! Just because you read it in the source books doesn't mean your character automatically knows the name and what it's about.
AND just because you have a decent Lore score doesn't mean your character knows everything there is to know about EVERYTHING because you know you can make the lore roll DC. You need to decide what those ranks in lore actually go to. Write it down if you have to! Do all the points go to the arcane? How many of those ranks are to religion? How many of those points are to geographical knowledge or lore on local nobility? Divide it up and don't cheat and make it fluid (i.e. you tell one DM you have 4 points in lore towards the undead, then later tell another DM that you have 6 when you've not gone up a level).

Just to add to Jen's comments, lets be consistent. Most of you would argue against being intimidated by a dice roll, I've used it on some that seem fearless and they laugh in my face.... the same goes for lore... just because you have the skill and can roll the dice doesnt mean anything.
*end of rant*

Player plots was what drove this server for a long time. Harpers vs banites, purple dragons vs banites, purple dragons vs harpers. Raven rift scaring the hell out of everybody. I know that i have tried a few and that some have worked out and others have not. It makes me luagh when i go out with one of my alts and party up and here people tell me in tells how this guy will not go out with people or that one is this way or that. Even when they tell me ic it is kinda crappy. Heck i have heard a few times how much of a jerk guldar is, even from so called friends both in tells and ic. Does it bother me? of course, i am human. yet, in the end, if that is how he is percieved then there must be some truth to it. i know that there is a definte click in isnhold and that many people feel left out. i have several alts and two diffrent disc for neverwinternights. I have seen both sides. just think, the next time someone is talking me, i was anoob once. and start a conversation. i remember when glew was like 13th and guldar was a whopping 3rd and i was going to rescue those idiot elfs who had gotten cuaght by them hobgoblions and her pc gave me some items for being so noble. no dm. no xp. just a pc who at the time was god level in my book helping the little guys. have you ever done anything like that? so break the cliques, no talking about people cuase guess what? almost everyone has alts and secret accounts, so you never know who you are talking to....
