Ok, I thought I'd bring this up because I can for see some problems coming or happening. What I mean is, if weapons and all are taken, not just emoted, I can for see problems. Here is why, in pickpocketing, you can only take up to 100 gold. People work hard for their precious stuff. If it's just taken for being caught or say disarmed. I can see some people getting very upset. I'd like to get others opinions on their armor, shield, swords and bows being taken by other players if they are captured. Either evil capturing good or good capturing evil and taking their stuff. Thanks

no no, this post isn't that Soulf. This was just opinions. See I don't like causing trouble, but say the banites take someone prisoner and take all their stuff. They blow up not wanting their stuff taken. I personally would like peoples opinions. Please dont' take this as an upset post. This is me wanting to discuss this and get opinions, see? A fighter getting his sword taken or armor is pretty useless. I just want opinions, that is all

It depends on the situation. As a player, I have always made it my personal responsibility to not steal anything or remove an extremely valuable item from a player without the intention of eventually giving back to them. Sharita can vouch for that.
However, often times it does not make sense IC to do these things, thus one must be creative in finding a reason to give the item back. Hroth is especially difficult cause he loves money and I often have to find a way to make it more valuable for him to give the item back than to keep it and just sell it.
Though, if you are captured and/or killed you ought to play along with whatever occurs. Just discuss with the other player some kind resolution.

Anja, check your private message box. But yes, in the case of captured PC's, some discretion is asked and advised. Valuable and expensive items should be returned in some way, be it OOC or IC. We pretty well know which players can be trusted, and if the player asking for the items isn't one you think you can trust, feel free to deny them, and insist that you only give the items through roleplay rather than barter. If there is ever a situation that arises, contact your nearest friendly DM....and even one you may not think is friendly. Most people know who my PCs are, and if I am in game, don't hesitate to ask for help.

I would say, try to keep it ic. But you can make it very simplisitc. For instance: you could say that you were storing the items in a chest where ever you live. One day, Chril was following you from the shadows and found where you were living. He waited for you to leave again, snuck in, and opened the chest, retreiving his lost gear. Now you could play it out ic, and make it more interesting. One of the benefits for chril is that he now knows one of the places where you stay occasionally, however, it is not without the price that he may get caught stealing back his gear. But this is just my suggestion.

if you are in RP that includes some sort of war, or a hatred between you and your allies, and another faction, and a member of the other faction catches you, kills you, whatever...gear and the like are fair game to me. RPing your way into such a situation is fun and can be rewarding, but getting busted, and your stuff getting stolen is part of what you have RP'd toward. And chances are that whomever you are RPing with is a fairly cool person, and it has probably been a long standing rivalry IC, but a friendly one OOC, like yours and mine Anja. So should something like that happen, it is probably fair to say that the player on the end of the PC is not going to try to screw ya over. so in sumation...I think gear, gold, scrolls, hell whatever is fair game in such a situation... now random acts of banditry...well I would think that simple gold theft, or perhaps jewelry may be acceptable, cause you may not know/trust said player behind the bandit character.

One must also consider this point. Say im level 12 and for some reason I happen to help my group kill a level 18 character. We now take all his possessions. The higher levels look through the gear deem that they dont need any of it, so they give it to me. Now I posess gear that would be out of my capability of obtaining, giving me quite an edge. This is considered twinking and is against the rules of the server. So I would say, whenever stripping a player of their goods, expect to return all their items of power (gold and other less vauable goods I would consider gone).

Another thing to consider is:
You take someone's precious gear
(intending to give it back later after a well played out event)
and something happens to the gear
(Rust Monster eats it, you sell it by mistake, it gets stolen from you by a pick pocket...)
How are you going to repay them?
It is best (not a rule just good advice) when you "confiscate" a players gear to just have that player move their gear to the last page of their own inventory and not use it... unless you are a DM that can export the character. This way you are not responsible for their gear.

Well, on that very note...
Players lose more gear to rust monsters than they do by having people take it.

Plain and simple thing is the players involved do whatever they decide upon WITHIN THE RULES OF THE SERVER. Padrin offered to give my weapons back ooc and I declined as I wanted to have it rp'd out. Lol where is the fun in ooc.

True... but it doesn't cause hard feelings between players. Players may hate our (DM) guts over rust monsters but we learn to live with it. ;D

i don't know how i stand on this, i think if a player takes another players weapon through pick pocketing i think a PM saying "dude you took my weapon" or something like that will do...
there has been many times where i have had peoples weapons and for simplicity i never actually took their weapons and when it was over we said they have their weapons.
but as with being disarmed then running and or dying i simply say that's too damn bad
