Actually the kobolds come forward has been done before. That was a long time ago when DM Richard use to do lots with the lower level characters. He did this awesome one with kobolds, where this one kobold was trying to get his children back that were kidnapped by an evil human. He went into town to ask adventurers for help and they followed him down the well. It was well rped. Sure was nice seeing those little impromt to rp moments and adventures the dms use to do. I am sure there are others here who remember that. I remember that! It was all being chased up near the ruins and I had to frickin raise ti twice, once after the towns folk killed it and once after the other KOBOLDS killed it... and then i had to leave before the quest was over. phooey. howd it end?

It was 1/28/05. After showing the party of adventurers the location of the attack on the kobold children the kobold stayed to sort things out (kobolds should never bring adventurers home) with his clan. The party headed west in search of the evil man that took the kobold child. Following some tracks they made their way to an abandoned keep. After fighting their way into the keep, they checked a tower full of bones. They were jumped by creatures and in the chaos a party member put an axe (accidentally?) into the helpless kobold child that was laying there unconcious. I even have pics if someone can tell me where to send them to have them posted.

I am sure there are others here who remember that. No offense, but what makes you think this is a permanent past tense situation? Admittingly, I have been building my yo-yo off, but we are getting really close to FRC 1.0. At that point you will see ALOT more DM'd events from me. Also, I just bought a house so I have been dealing with all the related stuff to that as well. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Not to make excuses, but sometimes real life gets in the way of doing sweeping DM events... I just want to assure you this is not a permanent issue as several of our DM's have been having extremely busy real lives recently. Things will be back to "normal" soon. Cheers!

Was just browsing the forum and came across this thread, i know its been on for a while but Manshin touched on a good point on the second page. Often new players are not included in events or asked to join parties of somewhat higher level despite being good RPer's. This detracts from potential XP for RP and as a result they go out and 'hunt' to make up for it. I love the FRC server but one thing I have noticed here is that certain PCs often get RP Xp beacsue they have been around and are known to the DMs whereas newer PCs often get overlooked despite having good Rp. I know this because my PC has been in the more experienced or known PC groups and has recieve RP Xp from the DMs on numerous occasions, whereas when I try to meet or travel with new PCs I have NEVER received dm granted XP despite some excellent role play from the players. I understand Dms can't monitor everyone but this seens odd to me.

Well...I might be the exception, but ....I get very little rp exp with Feanorre, no matter how much roleplay I do. On the other hand, I get tons with Darkharp..I have gone from 1st to 5th on 90% rolpelay experience..on the other hand I have sat back and watched most other characters pass me up in level with him..people can sometimes in 2 days pass him in level...but the point is..Darkharp is a really new character to the server, but gets granted experience fairly often.

I hear what you are saying but I'm referring not only to new characters...it seems that certain 'known' players regardless of the character they are playing get 'noticed' more and therefore get more RP Xp. I can only base this on my experiences of getting Xp often when with these "known' folk and nver getting it when with newer characters or 'lesser known' players despite excellent RP.

This is a fascinating discussion, i've been on both ends of the spectrum in this, being a low level character can be difficult, you see the potential of your character high up on a pinnacle, and you really do want to reach it. But getting in a party and RPing through an entire dungeon can be an incredible experience, especially when you have some good personalities in the group.
And sometimes a bad one...
Fascinating...

I've been guilty of this alot.. but I've also sucked up alot and gone ahead with Rp where in some cases means no XP for my character. Not that I care, frankly Wandering around wirh Crom or Sharitia or glewien are worth the Fun times that come with it. but on the other hand I have a character who is learning to be a mage and a good one (well wants to be a good one) and has rivals who are surpassing him. So..yeah I wanted to get ent out and about more for some Xp so he can advance and not fall behind. This being said I'm content at sitting in the inn all night, any DM whos watched purple dragon events knows most of that is us blabbering on about PDK stuff..and some cases cracking jokes etc.
I've been concerned with my Rp lately as this was new to me when I got on the server 6months ago, and I've learned to stop looking at the Xp that I get, but its nice to go out and geet some money, and advance your character. not like ents going to get any amount of Xp sitting in isinhold with his book out. and with his rivals.. getting out there and getting better is what is needed.
I'm rambling and its 3Am if you can find a point in there please use it. Basicly you can Rp all month long and get no XP but then you can go "hunt" for a day and a half and your up an level (36 hours literally) I personally feel bad when character that joined 2 months after I did are now a higher level.. makes me feel sort of inferiror
anyways I'm done rambling

Well, I'll toss Aria's way of putting it out here.... "I dont plan to eat any orcs, but I'll help you battle them." >.> Entori, your PC has something no amount of levels can get you... Reputation, Friends, and he's accomplishing something... not to mention an ever-growing network of contacts and knowledge. So if youre feeling passed up, just remember... the other guy might be able to cast more spells than you... but you can cast "Summon Sharita" ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)
