Hi, I recently created a Gold Dwarf and would like him to hail from the large population that resides in The Great Rift. However, I do not see "The Great Rift" as an option to be from when I talk to the border guards in the outpost.
Ideas?

No it is listed on the Lurien region and therefore that is the region you should take.

Just so you have a vague idea about where the Rift is in relation to Cormyr here is a picture: Though from the looks of it it would seem to be closer to the Eastern Shaar And here, for those that want it, is just a massive map of Faerun ( saved in jpeg format, but it's still almost 3mb) Which can be gotten **HERE**

yes but on the description IG it is listed in the Lurien section therefor IG is the appropiate place. In reality it should have its own section...and since people choose places like Waterdeep and such, the Rift is a good place, heck, they even choose Evermeet and Kara-Tur....

The Great Rift entry is on page 191 of FRCS and is described as being located in the middle of The Shaar.
I would guess the reason The Great Rift is not listed as a character region in Table 1-4 Character Regions in FRCS (pg. 30-32) is because it would be a copy of the Gold Dwarf region with less language options.

Thanks for the suggestions. I selected The Shaar, though I still don't feel it does The Great Rift much justice. I started off with a potion of true seeing. Doesn't seem very Dwarven to me (where's my battleaxe?) and apparently the Riftians are the best Dwarven warriors in all of Faerûn. I'd recommend to the DM's to add the Great Rift, if possible, to the list of starting locations. But I'll manage regardless
