OK. I introdused myself as another name than what floats above my character. One player used my floating name and i didnt respond to him. Another player with us heard that and insisted continuously that I was the one mentioned before no matter how many times i corrected her. I didnt want to cause any trouble so I didnt report to a DM. Now it has snowballed to the point where several people that should not recognize or have never met my character now seem to know him by name. It has also landed me in jail now without ever a single spot or listen check. I'm not sure where I'm going with this but being that my character is often in disguise(and a real mask bought as a mask and not a modified helmet) I want to know what I can do. I cant expect folks to jsut forget what they know now or whatever but it has completely ruined the entire point of being in disguise. Now I sit in jail and not sure what to do all because of my name being metagamed,

First, you should have spoken directly with the person who originally metagamed your name via an ooc fashion reminding them it was not the name you gave.
When this began to persist, you should have tried to contact a DM on at the time.
Third thing would have been to take screenshots or logs.
If you have logs of what has occurred, I would be more than willing to look at them. I will bring this up with the other dms and we will attempt to see if there is any sort of damage control we can do.

Thanks. I didnt do screenshots or logs but did do the ooc thing. I can play along with it fine but the only problem now is where someone decided to remove my mask while i was dead before i got a raise. Right now it its all on if that part really happened which it shouldnt have. The rest of it can be played off and forgot about easy enough. I really just wanted it to kinda blow over and be forgot about but it is leading into some bad stuff.

Also, I would like to add, calling a DM in to help is not "causing trouble". It is what we are for!

I guess the real question I had here is who would be the best one to PM about this particular situation? I cant play my character until this part is solved and I dont want to go into too many details in an open thread thing like this.

Any dm will suffice. Just pick one you are comfortable with or if there is one that may know a bit more about your character.
