*In the midafternoon of a "normal" day in Greatgaunt the town was hustling and bustling with newcomers and commoners as it usually is, until a loud cry of pain and agony broke through the air cutting the mood like a knife. A terrifying scream followed, and Valina came rushing into the town square...* "Murderer!" - she exclaimed *Several chartered adventurers turned the corner to see what had happened, and some saw a hooded man with two blades standing over a dead body and a pool of blood* "*cackles* My work here is done" - said the unknown hooded figure *He then rushed off to the North being closely pursued and was even caught by a magic hand spell, but nevertheless was able to make his escape to the North into the Bramblewoods. Valina sobbed over the body and described the unprovoked and violent attack, stating the hooded figure came out of nowhere and didn't even try to rob the impoverished commoner. Bentin arrived on the scene and took a report from those gathered, which included a bloodstained letter found stuffed under the tattered clothing.* "A life of filth, constant hunger, and destitution is not one worth living. The affluent and Noble class won't even notice your absence. I have saved you from this life...
- H.R."*After the accounting and report are taken, Bentin instructs the group gathered to escort the remains to the druids at the Shrine of Silvanus. There, he informs Merriss of the happenings and that the magical attempts to raise the slain victim were unsuccessful. Merriss, saddened by the news, offers to perform the burial at no cost given the victim was of little means, but nevertheless owed a proper burial. Lastly, Bentin makes his stop at the Red Ravens and ends with alerting the Greatgaunt Militiamen to remain on high alert until the murderer is found.*

*Yet another normal day in Greatgaunt is disrupted by a shriek from the Northeast. Bentin and several chartered adventurers rush to the East Gate to see what the commotion is about* "THE HORROR!" - Screams Cele *Upon their arrival the adventurers find an impoverished woman, slain and laying in a pool of blood just off the main road. Her body shows many cuts on her forearms and a fatal wound to her torso. The attempt to raise the woman back to life did not succeed, and many hearts dropped as she remained lifeless on the ground. Bentin requests that the corpse be searched, and his suspicion is confirmed when Ania Falsewood rolls the body slightly to one side and recovers a blood-soaked letter from underneath. Bentin takes notes as Ania reads the letter aloud* "Filthy and starving is not a life worth living, and those with plentiful means care not for those who struggle daily just to survive. I have saved you from this life, and nobody will notice one less skint in the world...
- H.R."Once again, the body is taken to Merriss at the Shrine of Silvanus and tasked with yet another burial. With no sign of the murderer, mothers and husbands begin shuttering their windows and locking their doors, and no children are found outside after dark.

Twice now she had been in one way or the other affected by this. Once she saw the crime scene herself. The second time she came upon her friends in vain pursuit.
Two days passed and a brief conversation with the Paladin reminded her that she had determined to make a try to stave off more of these murders.
(Will send PM) of Irea’s particular initiative. )

*Local tavern talk and idle conversations say that at the end of the tenday, Kentin and a small group of Volunteers were observed around Greatgaunt meeting with the witnesses Valina and Cele and the druids of Silvanus. Some passersby overheard them recounting what they saw and questions being raised to see if any new information could be learned. Tension among the militiamen remains high to ensure the safety of all within the hamlet of Greatgaunt.*

Dressed in fine fabrics that appeal to every sense and with a ruffle across her chest and boots raising to her mid-thighs, Affyni stops by the Red Ravens. She's there to drop off a bag of foods for the less fortunate.
"Hello sir," she greets the man with a warm, genuine smile. "I'm Affyni and I've spent a bit of time here in Greatgaunt now. I have seen what has happened with the two murders lately and speaking with Irea, we'd come up with a plan to maybe help the less fortunate."
She daintily holds out the bag, clearly struggling with the weight of it.
"We have collected a few food items in an effort to help end the hunger of some of those about the town. I believe Irea was hoping to find them a room at the inn, but I'm not sure how that all happened."
She tilts her head as if to look at the floor, but with only her eyes she looks up at him through thick, long lashes. "You wouldn't mind helping see that this gets to the right persons, right?"
Turning to leave she looks over her shoulder and gives a finger wave, "May you find pleasure at every turn. Thank you."

A lanky figure in gray robes appears in Greatgaunt. A familiar figure, mostly from harassing local adventurers with a skull in one hand and book in another.
Scrivener Morana inquires with Merriss, and any residents she can find willing to talk about the murders. With her usual, polite detachment, she questions them about the deceased name, gender, time and date of death, as well as how the victims hand been slain, taking great care to record every piece of information.

A couple clad mostly in bright green hears a tale from Waric of the recent murders. Waric seems less drunk than usual, given the early hour, so they wander over to the Red Ravens for confirmation and any follow-on information. Noticing a stage and the open area in front of it, a small performance ensues with music and dancing.

With two deaths in one tenday, the hamlet of Greatgaunt had a feeling of normalcy with no further incidents for nearly 2 consecutive tendays. That is...until one by one, the Guard Towers to the Southeast began bellowing their horns. The chartered adventurers in the area hurried their way over toward the old elven ruins where a Militiaman on duty pointed out something odd on the ground just out of his line of sight. Bentin arrived on scene and yet again...a vagabond had been slain. Once again, the impoverished corpse was searched and once again, a note was found. It read: "In this unforgiving realm where the privileged thrive, you were but another forgotten soul, a casualty of this wretched hierarchy. Know that your death serves as a testament to the inequality you suffered. In the shadow of nobles, I have saved you from this life...
- H.R."The all too familiar sense of helplessness took grip of those who were witness to this third act, and an unsettling sensation of a "routine" weighed heavily on the shoulders of the onlookers as the corpse was taken to the druids, as the two previous before, and Bentin writes yet another report to the Red Ravens.

The following day Affyni stops by the Red Ravens.
She saunters in wearing the jingling belt around her waist.
"Hello again. In light of the recent murder I thought I'd step in and see if the food was enough and if lodging had been secured for the less fortunate," her voice is smooth and calm hitting its audience with a silken tone.
"If not, I'd like permission to find and set up some temporary lodging in the form of tents. I would just need to know the best place to put them where the inhabitants could be cared for... I mean watched over for safety and all. I'm sure between the town guard and adventurer population we could cover most hours."
She smoothes a hand over her hips tilting her chin down and looking up at the raven through her long, lush eyelashes (natural of course). She blinks a few times as she awaits a response.
"Thank you for taking time with me today," she purrs.

*In collaboration with members of the Greatgaunt Volunteers, and others who have offered their aid, the Regal Griffin Inn has been funded to shelter the impoverished vagrants roaming through the small town within the Common Rooms and Conference Room. Food donations have also been received at the Inn so those seeking shelter are not subject to any ill effects of Sam's Stew. Corporal Vylee of the Volunteers may also be seen wearing a Tavern Maid attire as she assists with maintaining a state of cleanliness to ensure business is able to continue for other patrons.*

Vy makes the best of her time playing waitress. Customers are treated as if they are royalty, she wears that tavern maid outfit with just enough skin visible to draw the eye. She adds a bit of song and dance when the time is right.
At night the corporal side comes out. Those guests who are being given protective custody have themselves a guardian.
Her excess tips/wages that are not spent on sustaining herself are put towards buying any more time off the street she can with it.
