Hi guys, I'm still fairly new to this server, been here a couple of weeks, but i was thinking of making a second character, and I was wondering what your take on the following character would be :D
Name: ???? Race: Human Gender: Female Birthplace: Baldurs Gate Brief History: Father was a priest of Ilmater, Mother was an ordinary human woman, with no job, but also followed Ilmater. ???? became a priestess of the temple from the age of 16, but hearing of the troubles to the east decided to go into the lands of Cormyr to help ease suffering wherever she finds it.

Sounds good to me. There always seems to be a shortage of clerics.

Sounds good to me. There always seems to be a shortage of clerics. Egads.. blasphemy!! Ranan is an excellent cleric.. upstanding, helpful, generous and willing to sacrifice others... erm I mean himself for the benefit of the greater whole. ;D Back on topic... The concept sounds good Sundano and we really havent had many Ilmater faithful... well there is Abby Winters but she is a prude in my opinion... my only suggestion is to make sure you pick proper domains when creating the character. Good luck!

And don't be surprised if a bald guy with a pony tail gives you unexpected help, cause he loves the Ilmateri!

hey, thanks guys for replying, and thanks also for your support of the character, she's a work in progress at the moment but I think I can have a lot of fun with her, I don't usually play clerics, I usually play characters that can look after themselves, or at least characters that think they can look after themselves , anyway thanks and I'll work on a more detailed background for her, and write up properly the background for my other character, Galana when I've got some spare time that I'm not using to kill things, or heal people,

Be sure to try and meet up with Fyrian and Alia sometime if you create her.

I don't usually play clerics, I usually play characters that can look after themselves, or at least characters that think they can look after themselves I know at least three clerics who will disagree with you that clerics can't look after themselves. So come on in and join the fun.

Isnt that the truth.
Clerics can seriously not only take care of themselves but they can make the people they are with pretty darn fine fighting machines too.
To start with they get good hit dice, decent saves, good combat abilites and they can buff the bageezus out of themselves.
To top it all off they get really nasty offensive spells. Especailly once they start hitting the higher level ones
Ranan, Storm, and Vinduil are the prime examples I know of....
All three are pretty powerful individuals I wouldnt want to face alone. I have gotten caught in a couple of Storm's Implosions and even with my high fort saves I have been killed everytime. Sure she said it was an accident and if I hadnt of run into the fray I would of been fine.. Sure Storm... You just stick to that story *snorts*
I think clerics are probably THE most powerful class there is in NWN.

Clerics can definitely take care of themselves. It's almost like a fighter, with spells. When I play cleric, I usually combine it with fighter levels. Of course, this requires the appropriate deity, but then you can really make a spell-slinging, weapon-wielding deathmachine of <insert deity portfolio here>. But that's just my personal preference of course, not everyone likes to sacrifice spellpower for melee power

For the record, Larian is a cleric of Illmater. Hopefully he'll run into some of the other faithful...During one of the sadly rare times I'm able to play.
