In recent days Marsember had seen a distinct change. Drugs, violence and other unsavoury activities have been on the rise. The guards have been swarmed with more and more reports of crime happening throughout the city. Residents of the city have been getting home earlier and remaining within the homes - the doors and windows secured. What had been a relatively peaceful city now screamed with the noise of criminal activity.
Local business have been reporting more incidents of attempted Racketeering and then further reports of violence, injury and property damage after they had refused to pay. The local urchins had started to wear clothing that cost more than they should have been able to afford and the local small time criminal elements had started to disappear from the streets.
The more curious of the incidents where the ones that involved Lazarus Dundragon and his business interests. The rumours would have you believe that some individuals approached Dunragon and tried to extort him for use of his assets. People speculate on the outcome. Some say that the gang members where beaten to death, others say that Dundragon cowered and paid and the rest speak of a more sinister outcome - gang war.

Meesha mutters under her breath about the lack of law as she walks to her favorite taverns and inns. Her body radiates with spells and wards as she glares accusingly at every guard she crosses along the way.

A rough and ready individual was seen leaving Alizarin. He was whistling a jaunty tune while tapping his hands against his thighs, looking around the area with a casual act.

Bella walks the streets of Marsember in the hours before dusk, keeping her eyes and ears open for news on the ongoing events, speaking to the local people, offering a prayer in the name of her Lady for their safety, the hours after dark she spends at the inns around the city especially The Drowning Flagon where she makes sure to mingle with the finer society and spares no expense on fine wine and exotic spirits if anyone seems to hold “any” information or rumors on the ongoing situation.

In the early hours of the morning, large clouds of smoke started covering Marsember's Eastern Canals. A group of adventurer's where the first on the scene. They investigated, discussed and then where moved on by two blue dragons. The same blue dragons where found face down in the canals a few hours later.

Rumours quickly begin to spread about a confrontation that happened at Marsember's front gates. Apparantly Lazarus Dundragon himself was ambushed by six individuals of a rival operation. Dundragon had a female in blue with him. It is alleged that Dundragon shot a man with some strange wand - instantly killing him. He then forced the remaining six to fight to the death - finally employing the last man standing. Of course... there are no signs that any of this happened. DM Grizwald

Rumours begin to circulate around Marsember about a potential cease fire between the invading gang and the local one. Apparently some form of meeting has been set up at "The Lamp Post" between Dundragon and the new gangs boss.
The streets of Marsember scream with gossip around this subject. Will the unwritten rules of "The Lamp Post" be listened to? Will they be ignored? Will the uneasy cease fire be honoured until the 12th of Ches? Nobody seems to know... but everybody has an opinion.

Rumours being to spread of a confrontation which happened outside of the Leering Lecher. An individual matching the description of Trennor Hellward had just exited the Lecher when three War Wizards teleported around him and proceeded to blitz attack him.
He was quick off his feet and quickly slaughtered two of them before getting drawn into a slightly longer battle with the remaining War Wizard. He eventually managed to cut him down and then vanished in a flash of light after stamping his left foot.

*Belladonna spends the last few days visiting the various inns and taverns in Marsember speaking with the working women there about workhours and wages, and the once that complain about being underpaid is given extra gold coins under the table to help feeding their families.
The once that are paid well are openly given extra gold as a tip to share with their co workers for good service and a job well done.
Bella makes sure to ask about new people coming to town and where they hang out at what hours and how many at a time.
Her crystal blue eyes have almost a magic gleam to them as she scans the rooms with her true sight.*

Thick, acrid smoke began to settle around Marsember. The smell of dozens of burned homes hung heavy in the air and the detritus of recent events littered the streets. The unconscious, dead and heavily injured bodies of individuals caught in the aftermath of the ceasefire meeting where sprawled out here and there.
A few hours earlier in the day had seen Lazarus Dundragon running for his life through Marsember. A large group of individuals dressed as Nightmasks rampaged through the streets after him. They attacked everything and everybody in sight. Adventurers, commoners and just people going about their day. Some got kicked to death, others got beaten unconcious and most where left seriously injured. This marauding group of bandits also attacked groups of adventurers as they ran passed. They firebombed everything in sight.
After what seemed like an age... War Wizards started teleporting into Marsember. They appeared in groups and blitz attacked groups of gangsters. Some where arrested, some where killed and most where maimed in some way. The war wizards reported zero losses.
Towards the end of the conflict, one war wizard confronted a large group of adventurers outside of Alizarin Academy. He questioned them, demanded reports and then imposed a curfew before teleporting elsewhere.

Like thunder, like lightning... five loud bangs echoing around Marsember. Birds take to the skies and the people going about their days flinch and yelp. Recent activities had everybody on edge.
A single war wizard was laid in a heap on one of the canal bridges. A pool of blood was growing under him, staining the cobbles. Five individuals, who had Ravenclaw tattoo's on their forearms, circled the slowly dying war wizard. Each of them held a flintlock pistol in their hands, smoke drifting from them. All was silent for a moment before one gruff voice shouted "SCATTER!" and they all ran in different directions.

Lazarus Dundragon is once again seen walking the streets of Marsember as he goes about his daily business. Where has he been? What has he been up to? Did he really break the neutrality of the Lightless Lamp?

A particularly nosy bard from Alizarin has been rooting around Marsember, chatting with the citizens and gang members, trawling through the city's inns and taverns from Lecher to Flagon. He seems quite happy to chat about recent troubles: gang fights, city burning, dead war wizards on the streets, freely offering own opinions and buying drinks to anyone who has something to add.
"It's right mess, gotta say. Just between you and me though, lemme tell ya, swear to gods, heard that War Wizard got hit by a bat carrying a gnomish cannon..." Usually, they're increasingly unlikely, and just as entertaining.

Days after the appearance of Lazarus' Dundragon appears in Marsember once again, groups of Nightmasks begin getting dragged out of whatever holes they are hiding in. At each arrest, Dundragon is seen singing the Crowns praises. What caused this change of events? Why is Dundragon now working with the Crown, is he even working with the Crown?

Tales begin to spin out of Marsember that are increasingly less believable with each telling.
Apparently, if the local gossip mongers are to be believed, every single guard within the city of Marsember went on break at the same time. They all need a comfort break, smoke break or to get food.
It is told that Lazarus Dundragon then appeared at the Front Gates of Marsember flanked by four of his operatives. A pale individual who did not appear to be breathing was wrapped in chains made of a shiny metal and he was being dragged by the four. They would occasionally splash the pale individual with a water - which made him sizzle and snarl angry. Dundragon met with two females. When wearing blue with dark hair and one wearing black with light hair. They proceeded to walk through the streets of Marsember, the pale individual being dragged along. Dundragon seemed to be taking great delight in playing tour guide.
The travelling tour finally came to rest outside of the Leering Lecher. The Ravenclaw operatives moved to block the paths to the area, preventing anybody who was not directly involved from seeing what was occurring. But there was the occasional scream heard echoing across the canals. The Ravenclaw, accompanied by Dundragon, eventually dispersed in different directions. The pale individual was no longer anywhere to be seen.
The citizens of Marsember speculate that this could hopefully be the end of the war that has plagued the streets.

*A few Four Winds Dock hands are seen entering Marsember from the docks. They leave word for Lord Dundragon at a fancey establishment they are sure then likely hurried off for being under dressed for such an establishment. They are later seen boarding The Ashen Gargoyle. A hooded Elven figure with semi fresh tattoos stands at the helm watching them board. Once aboard they all make preparation and set sail assuming towards their home city.*

A darkly clad halfling bard stands in a dimly lit tavern, an easel before him with what appears to be a completed painting. His hands are clasped behind his back, and his masked face wears a look of satisfaction that cannot be seen by anyone else who might happen to look on the scene. His dark eyes roam over the details of the canvas, contemplating the events of the last two moons.
*****************************************************************
The scene set in this painting is a grim one, despite the sunny weather and deep azure skies that set the scene behind the backdrop of the City of Spices, Marsember. A man who appears to be an elf with very pale skin is stripped to the waist and heavily chained in a standing position, there are human warriors holding several lengths of chain that end in the tight interlinked metal coils wrapping the individual securely.
In the foreground a massive human is visible, with a bald head, his back the equivalent of a wall at the bottom left quadrant of the canvas, the white fabric of his well-tailored coat also draws a stark contrast with the gritty streets and canal-side buildings of Marsember. The details of the beaded moisture on the skin of his shaved head lend the piece a ‘too real’ appearance, gritty and disturbing. Beyond the street lies the murky greenish water of the canals, small boats ranging from fine to shabby vessels dot the scene in the distance.
A smoke or mist seems to rise from around the central figure who is chained, and the look on his face captures both severe pain and anger, his hate filled green eyes are locked onto the figure in the foreground, and his pained visage shows bared teeth which appear too long and pointed to be those of an elf. The chained figure appears wounded and badly beaten, yet defiant and the human warriors surrounding him all appear amused by the sadistic treatment of the prisoner. Through the winding coils of the silvery chains a tattoo of a domino style painted mask can be seen over where the figures heart would be, partially obscured by the chains but visible enough to be discernable.
Behind the elf is a street sign with two thin wooden signs crossing at the top, one of them reads ‘Gelgund Lane’ and the other reads ‘Thelvarspike’, both signs are faded and the entire pole leans a little in one direction.
