I have been out of the NWN playing for awhile, but I'm thinking about playing again. I started playing PnP AD&D around 1988 or so and loved the role play. I enjoyed interacting with character, solving puzzles, starting PC designed groups and plots. I don't need tons of hack and slash but it's fun to put your character to the test.
I'm really looking for a server to be HIGH Roleplay but give me a chance to advance my character. I don't expect to be level 20-40 in a month but I don't want to be a level 2 after weeks of play.
I don't have tons of time to play, would be, at most 2-3 times per week for maybe 1-3 hours. However, I'm good about checking the forums and can continue RP in them even if I'm not on ther server.
I like to play Druids and Rangers, staying out of towns unless necessary.
I guess this is my long-winded way of saying, do you guys and gals think this is ther server for me? I'm gonna troll around and look at the forum and read the FAQs and rules, but thought I'd throw this out now to see what people think.
Thanks in advance for any answers.

This would be a great server for you then. Its not a complete easy level up but its not impossible to level either. As far as staying out of cities and towns you can but it would be tough to rp alot if you do.

Welcome! And, uh, sorry the server's down until Sunday... Anyhoo... Yes! Lots of RP all around! You have a varying range of it as well - from first time RPers to the hardcore - to choose from and get involved with. Leveling is mostly easy for the first few, especially if you can get a group together. Sometimes though, we have such an influx of new people that a little solo time in a particular dungeon is near impossible to find, but other than that, the only thing you have to worry about is dying - which I suggest trying not to do - and the penalty that comes off that. As for staying out of town... Unfortunately right now, all our areas begin by throwing people in an inn of a town or city. However, we do have our nature lovers that find some excuse for being there (maybe need to clean the spiders out of the cave again?). Other than that, there's a pretty good DM team that randomly spices things up and is always available for help, so don't hesitate to ask about anything.

The thing about staying out of towns and stuff was aimed more at the availablilty to a druid to really get into character. Maybe have the opportunity, when at an appropriate level, to found a Grove. Maybe "get to know" the animals in a given area. Obviously this would take some DM involvement, but I was wondering if such a thing is doable.
However, thank you for you input. It's great to see such a quick and optomistic response.
The main issue remaining is, is only a 1-3 times a week for a few hours each time something that should not hinder my character? Can RP be done via forum so I can still develop the character and his influence on the world, even if I'm not getting Xp for it?

Yup! That's why we have our Regal Griffon Inn forum for in-game posts and such. And if you happen to become a member of a guild, then you get more information that way as well. You can also send private messages to people to continue something that was started in game. The possibilities are almost endless. As for finding a grove... There are plenty (did I say plenty? I ment to say PLENTY) of outdoor areas, forrests, hidden groves, and the like. Heck, there's a temple to Silvanus in the starting town, just up the road from the inn. The only problem with this server is it CAN be addictive (if you hadn't noticed everyone going through withdrawls in the other forums ), but other than that, there's generally always some way to compensate for one thing or another.

*raises hand* That's about the same amount of time I get to play every week and I find quite a bit to get involved in roleplay wise and character advancement wise. I'd say give this place a shot, eh? ...er... soon as she's back up that is.

Coming from another old PnP guy, this is the server for you. The town they are talking about is really a fronteir type stop and is really more of the type of place a druid would be sen when in town. There is lots of outdoors places and some are even still safe to walk in. The DMs for the most part are good at keeping things fresh and the forums are always good as long as you dont worry about the canadians. Yet a cautionary tale real quick...this is a drug and is hella fun so try and play a few times a week but we all once said that.

I have only been on the server for a few days before the crash that led to us waiting until sudday to play. Totally addicted and counting the hours untill we can log. I would say to give it a try for sure, and if you need someone to wander out in the middle of nowhere and rp with you..I'll do it, hell, I'll get a party together and bring them to you (not to kill you btw). This place is huge from what I have seen posted in the 'where have you been' type thread with the survey, and in my few days I haven't even seen the other side of the iceburg tip yet. Anyways, yeah try it, it's tons better then other servers I tried out.
