A large force of animated wooden goblins and a few worg riders sprung out the Bramble Woods and tried to storm the village. The assault was easily repulsed by several of Great Gaunt’s resident adventures.
It was later discovered that the goblin assault was nothing more than a diversion for a daring robbery of Giselle’s shop. The shop was found looted stripped clean and Giselle petrified. Witness all speak of a disembodied brain floating in a giant bottle scuttling on metal crab-like legs casting malevolent spells being followed by a floating disk heavily laden with all manor of alchemical gear. The abomination slew many citizens by means of spells and destroyed the west gate with a blinding flash of flame. The monstrous being refered to itself as “Evan Winter”. In response the town council of Great Gaunt has issued a reward of two thousand golden lions to anyone apprehending Evan Winter dead or alive.

Before leaving for Eveningstar, Runa stops in Greatgaunt to speak to Sir Callen about the most recent events. She goes over what the Guardians have discovered so far, offering to help more providing the gods see fit to bring her back in one piece from Cloudstone.

While picking up pattern parchment from Giselle’s, Mynian overhears about the "disembodied brain floating in a giant bottle scuttling on metal crab-like legs".
Later on her way back to Valkur's Roar she is heard to utter, "Aright, aright, me got ta admit tha's tha first time me 'eard o' somethin' loik tha' attackin' tha Gaunt.... 'n me thought tha giant mutant turkey were odd ...."

Sir Callen has since been released from the House of Healing having made a full recovery. He was slain in the altercations at the west gate allegedly by the entity known as Evan Winter. His body bore no mark of wounds but it is believed that an arcane spell stopped the gallant Sir Callen's heart.

Azura frowned on hearing the news. She had thought he was destroyed with the others a few moons back.*
