Sorry for two posts at the same time!
How do you post avatars? I notice that some folks have pictures and others do not. When I went to my profile to set it up, I didn't find anything that would let me do one. Is this reserved for folks after they have been a member/player for a while?
Also is there a guide or something that gives me an idea of where to start? I typically only get time to play at wierd hours and often find myself alone on a PW. IF it requires a team to do the quests, then I am hosed. While I do love to team play, sometimes I am forced to solo. Can you effectively solo here until folks come on that can play with you?
thanks again

To the best of my knowledge, there is no restriction on who may or may not have an avatar. I've changed a new player's avatar before because it was offensive and I think they had a post count of about 3. Go into your profile and select Modify Profile then scroll down and it should be there.
As for there being a guide to getting started, I don't know about one. As I said in your other thread, my best advice would be make a character who is not a divine spellcaster and log-in. (That way you don't have to worry about learning about a god right out the gate.)
Forgotten Realms Cormyr (FRC) is set in Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting, the same setting as the NWN official campaigns and the Baldur's Gate/Icewind Dale crpgs, as well as the console game Demon Stone. Cormyr is a monarchy located hundreds of miles from the locations of any of those games, but it's on the same continent.
Browsing the Lore of the Lands section here on the forum can provide more specific information about some things such as religions and ethnicities, and perhaps some geography too.
Oh, a last note on getting started: Running through town is bad form. Walking is good.

Once I create a character...if I don't like the character (selected the wrong diety, feat, etc) can I delete it?
Can Pally's get a holy avenger sword? If so, what type of sword can I select?
Thanks again from a humble newbie

Thanks again from a humble newbie There is a thread for posting character deletions. If you create a character and you really would prefer it deleted, you can request a deletion. There's not a limit on the number of characters you can have though so if you want to try something else, you need not limit yourself to just one. Holy avenger item property (+5 enhancement, +1d6 vs evil, and 33% chance dispel per hit all in one property) is not available to player characters. Some epic characters have gear that emulates aspects of the holy avenger property, but there are no weapons on the server that grant +5 enhancement. The holy avenger dispel ability is better than any other dispelling in the game so nothing can completely emulate that aspect of the property.
