I just thought, if the banks can buy currency, why not selling it? For example: - Copper "Thumb" worth 1 gp
- Silver "Falcon" worth 10 gp
- Golden "Lion" worth 100 gp
- Platinum "Tricrown" worth 1000 gp
IMO, it would be more flexible and convinient way to keep savings. Not saying the bank notes/bars system should be removed.

The standard gold pieces that characters already carry represent Cormyrean currency, specifically Cormyrean golden lions. This is why the coinage previously named silver falcons and golden lions were renamed to "heritage" silver falcons and "ancient" golden lions, because otherwise they would not have high values in gold pieces, since one golden lion is 1 gp.
