History
Revik was born of the Brightbeard clan at their clanhold in the Stormhorns, just west of Suzail. He was the youngest son of his father who lead the clan honorably and nobly, and was an inspiration to young Revik who aspired to be just like him. His upbringing was as expected for a lesser noble dwarf. He was taught a wide variety of lessons from fighting to scholarly pursuits. For many years, he remained a shining example to his peers.
When he was still quite young, the hold was held under siege by an amassing orc tribe who had joined forces with a duergar clan from below who plotted to take the hold from his clan. For a while, the defenses held without issue, but as the onslaught continued, hope wore thin. It was some time after this that three outsider dwarves arrived at the clan hold and somehow made it through the siege unscathed. They had well worn armor covered by a plain black and red cloth and black cloak. They moved in to speak with Revik’s father for but a few moments, before they took their company of three into the depths below toward the awaiting duergar.
The attacks soon stopped and the siege lifted, the three dwarves returned to the hold, covered in signs of a fierce battle, returned to his father and asked for their fee. His father dropped his head and looked over to his youngest son and motioned him over. Revik was told that he would go and learn from these dwarves, his father called them “Nightaxes”, and he was taken off to a dark cavern far away from his homeland.
When they had arrived, they locked him away to determine if he would be an asset or a liability. They held nothing back and he suffered many days and nights as they questioned him, but once he was broken found that he was no threat to them, and so they offered to let him stay. But if he was to stay, he would swear an oath as one of them. He would have to forsake his name, his clan, and his holdings to join their order. Revik took the solemn oath and began his training.
His brother Nightaxes would go off on missions and return almost silently, never bragging or boasting of a mission or even a detail of what had happened. Revik trained as hard as he could, hoping that he would be sent off on one of these missions like he’d seen back at his home, but the missions never came. They continued to train him and he swore to prove to them that he was ready to undertake a mission, but the orders never came. He had finally reserved himself to a life at his new home, ever training, but content in his position. Then and only then did his first mission come.
He received a letter penned in Dethek script that ordered that he find and aid Clan Oghrann. He would be going alone and his mission was not a set target as he had seen before. This is a mission to which he saw no end. He packed a small pack and tied on his black and red tabard and headed toward the Forest Kingdom, not sure what he would find or where he would begin his search.
