It has been a moon, since my arrival to Cormyr. I am now a legally chartered adventurer and staying in the town of Greatgaunt. This place assaults the senses. One can smell blood, metal being smelted, manure, baking bread, strong spirits and the unwashed. There are the sounds of minstrels, moans of the wounded, banter amongst blademates, complaining watchmen, professing clergy and taht of livestock. The races of Faerun and domestic cats of all colors can be seen, all before highsun. Through all of this, I maintain to study my art and craft. My understanding of the weave has has expanded, with some guidance from a former traveling companion of my cousin, Alkabiatese. Enotri is his name. A mage of great skill and patience. I have also obtained a bundle of ironwood. I will listen to the wood and with the Seldarine's grace this shall become my next bow.

My patience has been rewarded. I have made a fine bow of ironwood. The design was simple yet effective. I keyed three pieces to make the weapon. The upper and lower limbs are reinforced with horn and sword spider silk. They are keyed into the grip and secured with small adamantine pins. I added sharkskin to the grip to prevent mishandling. Honey Leather pads were placed around the recurve and string notch. My hands ache from the labor but the pride that fills my heart dulls the pain.

Broken hearts and broken dreams have one thing in common. They both weigh the same. One can see the burden of this weight upon many of the faces in Greatgaunt. For every cheer of achievement, there are equal silent pains of rejection. these are profound reminders to not neglect my craft. I have decided to get away from the many distractions here. Some solitude will be welcomed, so I do not share those weights.
