There's no way for a player to change the name over a summon's head, so the best way to introduce its name is by speaking through the summon with the appropriate escape character (Semi-colon, I think?).
DMs can make custom summons that have unique names, races, stats, etc., and some people do have such custom summons, but most celestials' names and unique personalities are RPed rather than custom-built.
My own cleric only calls a movanic deva in the most dire of situations, so she has yet to have a quiet moment to learn the deva's name. The spell keeps expiring before she gets a chance. (I have an idea of what I want the name to be, but I'm not 100% certain, and I've only cast the spell like three times in as many years.)
It's also possible that planar ally spells won't always call the same outsider. While you may always RP the same celestial or fiend, if a DM starts talking through the called creature, it may be a different creature that day. (RP-wise, the one you normally call might have already been called by someone else, or involved in some other important task, so you receive a substitute.)
I'd like to see solar appearance changed to look more like their Monster Manual description. I believe there is a shiny metallic skin choice available that would better fit the solar. They're also supposed to be large creatures. Basically, solars look like Colossus from the Deadpool movie, but with topaz eyes and white feathered wings, or like a big, winged T-1000. (It is noted that some solars have golden skin instead of silvery skin.)
The movanic devas and astral devas essentially match their Monster Manual descriptions, except that they're wearing too much clothing. Devas only wear clothes on the Material Plane because mortals prefer it, and even then they wear the minimum they can get by with.

I was actually wondering about a reference on /naming/ ones Solar's, as in, what is the best venue to make a name? FRCS has a chart of recommend and common names in the realms, i know celestial's wont have that, but there may be a thematic flow I could read?

I like to name characters using their language. It can be tricky cus the language widgets make some things sound completely stupid but with some trial and error I mess around until I find something I like well enough.
Akaliah's Summoned Deva's name is Molyivel kinda like Mole-yah-vel or something. I used the celestial widget to translate the word, "justice".
Wahecu's name I used the Midani language widget to make her name. It's actually a combination of two words I smashed together after translating them. Fire-rose. Though this was on another server where she was originally made and the widget translates the words differently on FRC >_<, but I kept the name anyway.
So ya, you could mess around with the celestial widget if you want. You might also check out some of diablo's names for angels. Loads of angels in diablo 3, might find some good names. Friend of mine told me that a good angel name should end in 'L' XD.. anyway, lots of random thoughts. Hope some of that helps.

Kimbera's only got Lesser Planar Ally so far, and she's almost afraid to ask the Bralani's name... they don't exactly get along. Something to do with an Autumn spirit being sent to aid a cleric of the god of Spring, I guess.
She'd be happy if he'd stop throwing lightning at her. Yeah, I know, he'll say it was at whatever he was sent to help against, it's just a coincidence that it happened (again) after they've closed to hand-to-hand.

There is no naming conventions mentioned in the Monster Manual where solars are noted. Nor are there any in the Manual of the Planes that I could find. The wiki page suggests that they're often holding several names, some for their deeds, but that paragraph isn't sourced and those listed spread from two editions of the MM and a couple of other books, one of which is a Planescape one.
Personally I name them based on the deity they serve and the associated attributes. Kori's Monavic Deva and Solar summons are both named after celestial bodies, (Selunites, being Moonies, like the stars and everything around them!) which I found on a NASA listing somewhere. The first is A'Hearn, which I believe was a comet or belt, and Sevre, which is a small planet or planetoid.

It depends on how you play them. Some people play them as constant companions and some just random. Name as you see fit

Steviejimbob is now going to be my celestials name. If you patched your wing with duct tape and a trash bag after that last epic battle... you might be a redneck Solar.

The three most common names on Mount Celestia are Thomas, Richard, and Holance.
