The second mate of the Pike rubbed his eyes blearily before scanning the dark waters of the Thunder River and then glancing back to shore. He detested second watch .. he ought to be asleep or better yet, enjoying one of the fine establishments in Thunderstone.
"Ahoy the boat" was called from the shore. Entirely too loud and urgent sounding for the second mate's liking.
"Yeah .. ahoy the shore too. It's the middle of the night, what in 'ells you want?" He peered into the darkness, finally registering a pair of darkly clad figures carrying something. As they trudged further into the torchlight of the dock, he was able to discern their burden as a large rectangular crate.
"Not our choice either, but we got urgent cargo. Need it sent it quietly and immediately .. and we'll pay quite a sum too"
The second mate perked up at the sound of a heavy purse jangling and he rubbed his stubbled chin, "Well that's a different matter. Let's discuss exactly how much and where you gentlemen wish this sent .."
