Arak delivers a case of bock to the hard-working dwarven miners, to be enjoyed *after* they finish work. (What did your momma say about drinking while swinging a pick? Someone will lose an eye. And speaking of one-eyes . . .) On his way to and from the mine, Arak clears the Lost Valley.

*after taking care of the one-eyed vermin problem infesting the valley, Dorn stops in to speak with Drecker Irokoff*
"I ain't sure, but on me way here I saw signs that some fool may be tryin t'pick a fight with a bronze dragon. Hopefully they'll stay clear o'here, but have yer guards keep an eye out, will ye? An' warn anyone headin up t'the Roar t'be extra-careful, just in case. Send word if ye see anythin, or be needin assistance."

Arak visits Drecker Irokoff and the miners in the dwarven mine south of Valkur’s Roar. “Tis exactly as Dorn has said: the Hammers of Oghrann will be available to assist you, should that be necessary. But a *bronze* dragon would not necessarily be hostile to us, so do not attack it, and react only in self-defense. And please make the miners’ safety your priority, eh? If a bronze dragon engages some foe, you can observe from the mouth of the mine, retreating as necessary and sealing the door behind you. You have stocked the mine with supplies, so you can withstand any siege. The Hammers are here regularly, and we can aid you as necessary. Keep up the good work, Drecker.”

Drecker responds,
"Everything is operating smoothly here- the beacons put up for the Dragon don't seem to have caused any trouble. No signs of a dragon. I'll have a report on some local happenings and new ideas for the Clan within two or three tenday as things settle in for the new year."

"Glad t'hear that there weren't no fight with a dragon round these parts. Now if only th' one-eyes'd stop droppin by fer a visit. Valley's clear of em, fer now at least."

And never did the cyclops’ hammers fall On Arak’s armour, forged for proof eterne, Yet dwarven blows upon the one-eyes rain, To drive them from the Valley once again, With prayerful hope that they do not return.

Friday the 13th turned out to be an unlucky day to be a cyclops as Dorn visited the Lost Valley.
((cleared Apr 13, 3:30 p.m. PDT... and I know Friday the 13th isn't a Faerun thing, but I couldn't pass up the bad quip))

*Dorn travels to the mine to make sure the area is still safe. The cyclopes are back, however briefly. Though the skirmishes are not in doubt, the one-eyes do seem to be making a better show of themselves than normal. As a result, Dorn resolves to spend less time in Manus's shop.*

It seems that with all the to-do that has been going on elsewhere, the Hammers have not been as diligent as they should be in ensuring the safety of the mine. To rectify this, Perrin Hearthrune set out to scout the area. Several winged cyclopes were seen in the area and, although they were worthy foes, in the end the student Runecaster of Oghrann prevailed.
