[Part 1]
The unkempt hin decided to leave his companions before the gates of Immersea, tired he he went to walk the path to dhedluk and beyond, his destination the woods that connect to Waymoot. Tiring days it have been for Rhuvak, for a person that claims to be lazy he sure had done a lot of walking recently and his feet and legs responded by feeling like beeing made out of led.
Far he had walked in the last days.
First with Nyora'cantspelltherest and Bolantis he traveled into the darkwood and beyond, his feet had taken him over the murky ground in the march, the stone of the Troll filled cave and the burning hot cavern floor of the upperdark, heated by the magma that ran by. A tiresome trial it was, exhausted they had been, thier spells faded, battered from thier encounter with the stone giants they marched forward until they finally reached the safe heaven the Azer had made. The rest was welcoming, Rhuvak pondered silently if wearing boots again may not be wiser, but his mind would soon be overcome by exhaustion as he slept like a rock. After that they marched onward through the webs the spiders had spun until they finally reached the light of the day again. Now standing on top of cormyrs famed fortress they enjyoed the fresh cool air of the storm horns. What a walk he had ... he saw once more the nightmares of the beastlord and his unholy rites, the savageness of trolls and more.
But there was not rest for him, his friends had called upon him to keep the orcs near Dheluk at bay.. Orcs again, orcs everywhere. They pillage the woods, destroy the balance and kill and murder like savages, there was no place for kindness in ther hearts, most evidently by the strung up men in the woods.. and the piles of corpses everywhere. He feet would take him, alongside his companions which whom he would walk in the coming days. Tasha the sickly hin, as frightening as determined. Morthic, a dwarf more resilent than the stonehalls he came from. Tethost the aspiring mage hound from Halruaa. And Findaro the erevantie bowman, Rhuvak could not find the right words to descibe him in his mind, a dedicted archer but full of joy would only scratch the surface of what Findaro is.
A new had begun as he met Tasha and Tethost again in Dhedluk, together they fought a cult of the beastlord close to town. To safe a young lad from becoming thier prey in the next high hunt was thier goal, but what they found was worse. The boy they could safe and a few others as well, but ... what they do to thier own is as worse as what they do to thier enemies, the poor child of a man who wanted to leave the cult. The body broken appart and scattered, the soul could not find rest until they had gathered the remains and had them intered. The beastlord as parasite of nature. He turns something as noble as to hunt to survive to something twisted, a hunt to kill for pure joy .. meaningless, Rhuvak could only feel disdain for thier actions, but he had no idea of the horrors he would see soon. He had yet to learn that outside of nature destructive and unholy forces lurk, too.
Once they had returned and settled thier buisness, Rhuvak would return to get some rest, but not before seeing the fellowship of the key of to thier latest endevour. Wurked would not give in and continue his fight, despite finding no allies, one wonder would the crown will not support him.
The hin tought things would get back to normal like always, times of rest and beeing lazy in the grass, he was far from these days as he soon would find out.
Morthic had called upon them again and how could Rhuvak refuse. As they sat around the table in Skullcrag, Morthic would explain to them how he longed to see the lost halls of Thrymgavin. And so it began, the five of them, Rhuvak, Tasha, Morthic, Tethost and Findaro (and thier sixth membre Emerald, if she knew he forgot to count her she sure would be pouting) set out towards the Tun and not beyond but beneath. The journey was long and perilous until they reached the entrance to the caverns, past Trolls and swamp giants and beetles .. the beetles.. some people have claimed that gigantic beetles live in this swamp as tall as a tree and as broad as a river they claimed them to be, but teh truth was they were puny, as big as an horse yes, a bit bigger than his direwolf companion Timber, but far from what the tales let one believe, little did he know that this was the easy path.
Not long after they went into the darkness they encountered them, the ancient enemy of Fin's kin, the Drow. At first things were as usually, the othrs would be hacking at them while Fin would shoot arrow after arrow and Rhuvak, well Rhuvak would be doing his thing, but then they reached an ourpost of thiers. if the bodies of the slain dwarven slaves outside where no indication then the ones tortured inside where for sure. Rhuvak realised at this that evil came in many forms and he got teh feeling that there is no lesser evil or greater evil.. evil would onyl search to inflict pain and suffering and destruction, if one thing evil was equal, equally bad to everyone decent. As they ventured forth, fighting drow patrols after drow patrols, invading a shrine of thiers and slaining a powerful priestess, they finally reached a safe heaven in the underdark, the unfortunate orc.. it made Rhuvak think of all the orcs Tasha had cleaved into two with a single blow... fearsome that woman.
After they encountered many strange patrons in the inn, they all shared a room, they dared not seperate down there. Rhuvak and Morthic made thmeself comfortable on the floor, as well as Fin who entered his elven reviere which allows them to recover far faster than the rest, Rhuvak half expected them all to wake up with a mustache drawn to thier faces. Tethost and Emeralrd would sleep in the armchair. Tasha, as the only woman, had the bed for herself.
After that brief rest they would ventured out again, far they would not get. A crypt they found, undead drow swarmed upon them as soon as they entered, Rhuvak had fought skelettons before but these and thier cursed sowrds he never dared to face, after a mage of thier blinded thep parts of the front line he had to watch on as they butched Tetost and Tasha, Fin ran but was slain not long after, stumbling while running he managed to evade the one chasing him, after he used what spells he had remaining to strike as many as he could with lightning, Rhuvak was only saved by drinking a invisibiliyt potion in time.
Morthic.. was still standing, taking blows of the swords that unnaturally chooped the others to death, two skelettons were remaining now after the eight or ten they had faced. But Morthic prevailed.
Now down three raise scrolls the party fought themself deeper into the crypt, but was forced to return as the enemy spellcasters would blind them constantly. Beaten they returned to the inn now down a fourth raise scroll.. a rest was in order.. but even after they didn't feel refreshed.
And so they moved on, deeper and deeper, battling the drow in the ancient clan halls of thrymgavin, seeing the ghost of the dwarven priestess and the enslaved dwarves they could not free, it filled Rhuvak with uneasy and he could understand Morthic. He, too, felt similiar when he thought of the orcs defiling the woods.
Further and further. How many days had it been since they sat in Skullcrag? Two.. or three? He could not tell anymore.
Deeper and deeper, through a portal and mines of duerger, to where the true horror of the underdark was, the mindflayers, Thnking back to this Rhuvak's guts would twist as they are truely horrific.
Exhausted but alive the came across the dwarven refugees, there they were granted a moment of rest after which the group decided to leave the underdark with tethost teleportaion magic.
A strange feel to be teleported.. and then the sun.. oh the sun how Rhuvak had missed it.. but .. must it be so bright? Blinded the hin stumbled forward, bumping into a few travelers near the caravan they appeared one after another. His eyes would need some time ot recover.
