Dazedly she wandered down the old street, a somewhat familiar face passed by weary but stern and sure footed. She recognized him after a few long moments.. the old guard in his third pair of boots this season..again. Greatgaunt, she realizes, 'what am I doing here?'. Her pack she realized was awfully heavy 'this is the worst place to trade... but its so.. heavy'. She knew it was long over due time to come out of seclusion but, how did she end up in Greatgaunt? She considered greeting the guard but, her throat ached, she did not feel like using it. Could she if she wanted to? She had not spoke a word in so long...
Out of her peripherals, she notices a dark human woman.... who had noticed her. Her belly sank. 'Just keep walking, maybe she will go away, shes not really following me, is she?' The she-e;f thinks to herself. Then she hears it the tell tale sound of a steady tread behind her, not causal as of someone just meandering by, not hurried of someone wanting to pass.. steady following so she peers over her shoulder briefly. 'Ugh, that's a curious expression' just a few more paces and around a corner.. 'maybe she will just go to the inn'. The woman's easy tread continued steadily behind her so finally, she whirls about. 'Words... words.. I should say something?' still her voice did not find its way so she just tilted her head in silent query. Some things were just universal, everyone has a little empathy, she knew her expression would be understood. The woman spoke up rather confidently and curious, her nature was not nefarious she had all the appearances of kindness. Perhaps a touch of loneliness that drove her to pursue this interaction. The she-elf, more comfortable with being elusive eventually replied. Her words in common were broken at best but the more the woman kept her talking the more it came back to her. The woman even offered to aid in bartering with the merchant.. it would have been wise but what the she-elf needed was escape for a minute.
She found herself inside Garrots building... wretched walls she growled softly but kept her composure as she had to gather her thoughts which had already wandered to the last person she spoke with...a friend just merely reaching for her hand. Likely to just tug her over somewhere or get her attention but she had not expected it, the surprise washed over her and before she realized what had occurred she was stumbling with a concussive ring in her ears. Panic and worry took over her 'oh no not again'. There he was. a few feet further away, smoldering...another friend was already seeing to his injuries, she was helping him sit up and he was alive thankfully. Still, she had to go.. This was another attempt at controlling the weave and socializing attempting to meet and make friends... after her old hunting partners stopped coming around. They knew what she was, for a long time they even supported her attempted to help her through it. A kindred spirit, she would jest they were so much alike they could be siblings, he hated the concept... and the Watcher..the most faithful loyal bodyguard she ever knew. They were gone now..
She found herself calming a bit and realizing, the woman was pretty close and nothing happened. Not personal close, but there would be no need for hand holding. She could socialize a bit before going back to Mistwood to wait.. She doubted her companions would return anyway. She left a satchel of extra things on GArrots counter forgetting to collect the coin in her haste to step back outside. Only realizing she forgot the coin when she tugged the door shut behind her.. this issued a smirk at her own ridiculous self. She somewhat cautiously prowled back over to the woman. She was beginning to make out some of her features in the night. She must have been of some desert clan. The desert woman was open to conversation and the she-elf found herself chatting rather open and comfortably, she even took a few paces closer testing herself.. until she felt that tell tale static charge and unease. She kept a few feet away.
Even as they conversed others arrived in the town square, not to many. Crowds always made her uncomfortable, which turned out bad usually. A familiar face, from a time when she would occasionally linger about Greatgaunt observing others, the Watcher even introduced her to the Windwalker. She perked a bit and waved uncertain if the woman would remember her but Vana wandered on over and inquired if she had seen Entori.. Aerwynn'lia would be no help the last time she had seen him he was standing with one called the Joy Bringer here in the square before she took to seclusion herself. Yet, it was too nice to see a familiar face her spirits lifted swiftly.
Also, of note a male human by his build, he had a wand blaring bright light about him which made her squint to much to make out much detail at first. He eventually decided to put his wand of annoying light away so she decided to really test herself and even welcomed him over to chat with the desert lady and herself. He was charming, as it turned out he was a devout of Tyr. 'Hmmm, these two would make a cute pair' an image of dog breeders introducing a pair of cute pups to each other crossed her mind inducing what may have been a sly grin upon her lips. Then she noticed something familiar .. there is no words for it a pull but not, a tingle but not really.. the weave was about him. Of course! Charming... and the weave she should have known.. even before he confirmed that he is also a sorcerer.
As the desert woman departed, she was a bit crestfallen but content to know they both intended to hunt together soon.
Then the Triad Spell blade also had to depart, most bemusedly to deal with his ice mephit familiar who she could see with its tongue pressed against the Inn window on the inside of what apparently was their room..."What an odd pair".. she was speaking common rather well again.
Then... Vana and the she-elf were greeted "Top o the mornin!" by a somewhat jovial burly bald headed man.. with a beard that would impress a dwarf. She refrained from jesting and pranks up to this point but, it was as if Erevan deliberately placed this man .. this perfect target right in front of her... there was no resisting. It was time to play. Uncertain she was at first shyly peering out from behind the tree she all but melded her body against... this familiar old tree she used to slink against so regularly.. every piece of bark.. wormhole..almost every nick were familiar to her like a little home. She knew she must look ridiculous peeking out from behind it but that's alright, shes quite used to being the arse end of a lame joke. "Is... that a rodent.what is it doing to your face?" she braced for the worst reaction and ducked back behind the tree.. but Vana.. she played too... Thankfully, the lumberjack was up for some jocular fun. At one point he even sucked his lower lip in and wiggled his chin that made his mustache and beard look alive. This rodent had a duty the top part strained soups and the bottom part collected food pieces for later. This human played nice, even bested the elfess in a pun war.. the man had way to many tree and wood puns... but he kept a comfortable distance... with the exception he dared to dump a bucket of water on her... which she expected, she played dead on the ground in front of the Raven's a bit to long. She did eventually have to walk away... though, hoping she would someday soon again see Mr Fuzzysneak McWoodyTimberkins... no that's not his real name.. but he earned it.
With a soft sigh, she decided perhaps a visit to the little places she would meet up with her old companions. She knew no one would be there.. but she could pick herbs along the way. Someone was there, someone new. A wood elf clearly, with an all to familiar demeanor. She knew the postures. She recognized the discipline... not the elf himself he seemed a little newer to Cormyr. Kin.. she had run into him once before, he had beaten her to an herb patch he reminded her of her mothers clan. The first elf she had run into in awhile. This chance encounter had her all sorts of awkward. Her levity from Mr Fuzzysneak McWoodyTimberkins had not dissipated, and while she was not yet ready to head home alone. This elf did not appear to be in any need of assistance of any kind... which that was always her part show up help disappear in the background. No, he was there to serve kin. She just knew someone was out their cosmically laughing at her... which normally this helped her 'may as well laugh with them'. Well, this elf would not be laughing, and it did not take long for her to realize he never would be.
She sort of felt like a feline with a new ball string, and unfamiliar almost scary ball of string.. she would have test it, sneak up on it a little run away pouncing warning, sneak up and unravel a bit...first, she realized she was uneasy. Which she knew was dangerous. So almost timid greetings, somewhat small formalities. She used this time to keep the weave in control, stupid she-elf why didn't expend some of this energy already. So she would approach slowly, quite aware her feral nature and the fact he has no idea she was testing how near she was comfortable with being without oh, electrocuting him, making her appear quite ridiculously like a caged wolf glowering at her captor. Nope, she would not be standing within a bows length of kin today.
It was time to ask subtly about the thing nagging at her. "Military experience?" Were the only words that found their way out.. she meant to ask if he had any. She knew he did, it was obvious but she had another question in mind she dreaded the answer as much as she anticipated it. His reply tossed her for a loop, again she felt rather awkward, he was completely honest and volunteered much more information than she was looking for . It took her a few minutes to process it all.. Though he was a wood elf he was from a different land and some of what he was saying was a bit unfamiliar. It was as if he were almost deliberately dancing around the piece of information she was looking for, she knew better. "Oh, well I had you pegged for a Black Arrow"
To anyone else, his reply "Well you would be right" would not seem particularly funny at all. She couldn't suppress the laughter long but she uttered under her breath a sarcastic "gee Thanks Erevan good one" and as it happened. Despite how awkward she felt about discussing the matter. He almost sounded like he was curious. Could have been her imagination, a Black Arrow, the codec, he would not pry.. moments after the thought passed through her head he states "I would not pry anything m'lady would not speak freely". Predictable because, she was close with a Black Arrow before. 'Ugh, but the irony! he has no idea.. she laments to herself in her mind.. this cosmic joke is a good one I cant be the only one to know' Then again she looks at him and.. AWKWARD. Nah, he of all people would not see the hilarity in it at all. On the other hand.. here she is still looking stupid. "Eh, I would not wish to waste your time with it" time to go back to Mistwood. Erevan had his laugh.
"I would not consider any time with kin to be wasted"
Thats... my line...I say that... how dare he use my own words to make me feel even more awkward. Fine.. but it will just tick him off anyway. So with a little banter about the rain and location for such a chat we meandered to the old swimming hole.. yeah the one for awhile the only way she knew to get to it was through a mind boggling thick brushed forest.. which took her a couple weeks to master the path to 'the party place'. Now, they just strolled up the hill all quiet and nonchalant. She used the beauty of the place to keep her calm, the moons reflection over the pond. The steady flow of the waterfall across it. The perfectly located trees turning autumn hues. The crisp autumn air, not at all like lightning or thunder...
He suggested she sit... She really did not feel like sitting... she sat it was the polite thing to do... then rebelliously sprawled along her side along the full length of the log. No one else sitting here," my log". She knew it would not phase him nor would he think anything of it and he would just sit on the other one. She told him the relevant, parts of the latter portion of her time among her fathers nomadic wild clan. She left out the worst parts, the grisly details, the torture, communications with the captors how she escaped.. and how she knew there was no way to rescue her old hunting partner, the little irrelevant detail he was her betrothed. No one else needs that hatred. She did include it was the only time she had ever left anyone behind, and the trauma is when and how she discovered her powers and quite likely why she has difficult controlling them.. being tied to emotions. Whats one more person knowing why shes so avoidant?
His response, black arrows were made with names on them. She anticipated that. Then, as only a few before him, he held his hand out to her, 'practice makes perfect.. well not perfect as perfection is misnomer but improvement' she eyed his hand the mischievous part of her wanted to just reach out and grasp it... they'll teach him. The rest of her knew how this goes, she did not wish to cause kin pain. Just as bad as causing him pain; the guilt that stews inside herself when she does even by accident, which that emotion ignites not just metaphorically is not something she wishes to endure for this acquaintance. All of her, wanted to shake the Black Arrows hand, empathize the respect and appreciation of their dedication and sacrifice to Our cause.
Decidedly, this was not a ball of string this feline desired to unravel. It should just be hidden under a couch somewhere.
Parting of ways... because their meeting wasn't awkward enough.
"With your leave m'lady"
"You do not need my leave"
"Just because its unnecessary in your mind..."
Alright, she will just go.. but which way? She eyes him sidelong stepping past him at a comfortable distance, a good indication shes departing. Terrible decision! Nooo, not the thick forest back how inconvenient.. the other choice is the same way he is going... but they already basically said goodbye.. So she steps out of his sight and waits until he has left the area. Cloaks herself invisible and hastes herself to speed past him. This whole thing was absurd she cant stifle her laugh much longer and giggles escape right as she passes the Black Arrow by. Definitely deciding not to linger to see his likely annoyed frowny reaction.
Just got to.. get through town.. 'Oh look Leovan and Nine... good place to exert some energy in a harmless little haste spell... Leovan won't mind. Just gotta make it back to Mistwood.. oh the small talk earlier.. the Black Arrow is right behind.. oh.. this will be interesting.' the she-elf skids to a stop in the grass and settles behind the inn building to observe.
Really, it was just a little small talk. He mentioned there being quite a few kin about the area.. Aerwynn'lia simply mentioned him amongst the few kin she has observed, of course he must have met Leovan.. Leovan is quick to aquaint kin he quite randomly introduced himself to her thinking it to be her first day or so there.. because she was heading into the elven ruins. No need to change his mind on the matter she just wanted to avoid crowds.. he was usually in a crowd.
"Should you see Leovan give him my regard" at the time she did not think anything of the innocent statement.. Until the Black Arrow arrives finally, to an already dubious expression from Leovan which insights giggles from Aerwynn.
"Leovan, how fortuitous" stoically said by the Black Arrow.
Aerwynn thinks to herself 'wait for it....'
"Aerwynn'lia sends her regard"
She had no idea how one could appear even more dubious than he already was.. somehow Leovan managed it and.. that look was worth the whole..awkward situation.
"What did she really say?" Leovan was skeptical because Aerwynn had essentially avoided him nearly every chance they crossed paths.. he still has no idea why.
"Well we discussed numerous things.... I'm sure its a private matter"
She stifles her giggles, oh she could not have planned this better herself mental note, if she ever cross paths with this Black Arrow again she will crown him King Awkward. Now, back to..the uh oh, her invisibility weave as about to fade. She could be a little stealthy if she wanted but not in broad daylight she needed the shade of her beloved tree..Her attention has already left the elven trio and their discussion as her weave ebbs she melds her body against the rough bark of the birch tree there is a spot, she had long ago found that if you fit right into it, it obstructs view from most directions of her. She holds her breath as she notices someone approaching and promptly realizes as the Albino human passes by that her foot was sticking out just enough to be trod on. He -must- be half blind. He nestles back, and panicked he might touch her, she jumps out from the tree. In that moment she also sensed the weave about him, was he mage-blood as well? He was saying "Ah good the tree is unoccupied"
"Uhmm.. no.. no its not" she slowly glances around and there is the trio of elves also staring at her. Sure he was half blind.. and didn't see her no one is to be blamed nor did he realize the danger... as she flusters to control the weave that crackles a static charge in her hair and cloak. Time to go...
She forced herself to be crestfallen about losing her beloved spot on the tree, that would keep it under wraps long enough to get out of town..she drops her shoulders and sulks.. it wasn't hard to pull off loneliness.. all the way to the woods beyond the kobold cave. The autumn leaves crunch and crackle beneath her feet, she pauses to enjoy the aroma and the colors... lifts her head and looks around.."Takasi! ... I needed to go the other way"... She huffs and lowers her head shaking it slowly as she turns around to head back towards town.... back through town slipping by hopefully unnoticed and finally a -nearly- uneventful trip back to Mistwood... Never mind the dire and sword spiders and shadow wolves... they were good target practice. Back to waiting.
