A man of average height and build (between 5'10" and 6'0"), Lorister does his best to go unnoticed amongst large crowds, but those that do would see that he moves with a grace and style almost aristocratic in manner. He often, though not always, has a hood partially covering his face, but it is obvious he is well groomed and smart.
His clothing tends to be made of high quality fabrics and well tailored, but also hard wearing, practical and allowing much flexibility and freedom of movement. He has numerous traps and small items of equipment strapped to his person and usually has two short blades tucked into his belt. His belt buckle carries a symbol of a silver chalice with a golden sun face on the side, which those with knowledge of such matters would recognise as the symbol of Siamorphe.
He speaks with an educated Waterdhavian accent.

****SPOILER****
Hailing, it seems, from Waterdeep, Lorister is an agent of the church of Siamorphe. He is sworn to defend the divine right of the nobility to rule and preserve the status quo through whatever means necessary, whether this be through intelligence gathering on potential threats or more direct action.
His loyalty and ruthlessness has been appreciated by a certain faction within the Church of Siamorphe where he is utilised for jobs unsuitable for the squeamish. Indeed the questionable morality of the tasks he undertakes would perhaps face disapproval from the wider church, so therefore the details of his activities and missions are kept a tight secret in a small cabal.
Most recently the church has been disturbed by report from Cormyr of numerous threats to royal and aristocratic authority, from anarchistic Cyricists to populist and egalitarian adventurers undermining the nobility. It is in response to this Lorister has been sent to investigate, report back and even intervene where appropriate down to his discretion.
As to his own background, it is something of a mystery even to those within his own church. He has no known friends and does not tend to socialise. Rumours of his origins abound within those that know him, some say he was a foundling adopted and brought up by the church of Siamorphe. Others, more prosaically, argue that he is merely the son of a merchant family helping to uphold the status quo that has served them so well. Another suggests that he is the debt of an aristocrat and beholden to his authority. Perhaps the most outlandish is that he is the bastard son of a Duke himself, unable to inherit or claim the title of an aristocrat ,but raised to defend the rights of his blood.
