Born and raised in Ten Oak Rise (a small village two days NE of Waterdeep) 38 years ago Kesta spent the first 20 years of his life in the village doing what it is young lads do, he had no education to speak of yet is clearly bright and was only to happy to help out around the village, be it manual labour on the local farms or odd jobs on the local buildings. At the age of 20 he left for Waterdeep to see if he could make his own way in the world, once there he found work in Dockward as a guard, he spent two years in various employ and eventually found work on a tradeship called "The Grinning Red" under the captaincy of a hin named Davdi Diddave. The "Red" worked the length of the Sword Coast and some way beyond and in Kestas 20 months on board it went from Waterdeep to Athkatla and back to Waterdeep stopping at many a port in between. On his return to Waterdeep Kesta left the ship on good terms with both the crew and captain and made his way back to Ten Oak Rise for a short visit home. He stayed for two months happy to taste his mothers cooking and happy to see some familiar friendly faces again, once more he returned to Waterdeep but this time he found work on the tradeway as a guard/scout for trade caravans.

It was about two months into his new employ that Kesta purchased a lute for the inevitable songs and tales around the campfire in the evenings, he was delighted to find he was something of a natural and his delight grew when he started to sing sea shantys and tell tales of his adventures on the high seas, his companions heaped praise upon him for both his playing and his singing, indeed the traders in the caravans even more so. With his confidence high Kesta started to play in various inns and taverns along the tradeway when the caravans stopped there, it was at one of the said taverns that he discovered Sharess. Some followers of the goddess where organising a "party" and Kesta was talked into playing at it by the head cleric, he enjoyed the experience so much that he left the employ of the caravan to act as a scout for the Sharessens as they travelled between towns.

He was very happy in the company of his new companions, two men and four young women, they spent the next four months making their way toward Cormyr as that was where they intended to try and spread the word of Sharess. Four days west of Arabel disaster struck though, Kesta was scouting ahead as usual and somehow he missed an Orcish ambush, he was struck in the shoulder from behind by an arrow, as he fell he heard the attack on his friends, all he could do was lay still and wait for the screams to die out, he was very aware that if he tried to help he would be slain also. After what seemed like hours he struggled back to the terrible scene, the two men and two of the women lay mutilated at the side of the track, the two other girls had been dragged off by the orcs, Kesta felt sick to his stomach, he knew he had to get away, to try and find healing for his wounds, so he set off to the west and his new life.

Kesta eventually found himself in the city of Isinhold, with what little gold he had he rented a room at the Regal Griffon Inn and spent a few days nursing his wounds and building up his strength. After a while he ventured out to check on his new surroundings, running a few errands for the local trader and the chef at the Regal Griffon to name but two.
