Diary of Aelas Silverhair

Woke up with a splitting headache in a miserable village I later learned was called Isinhold. Was clothed in rags and had almost no possessions. Found miserable little bow by bedside. Couldn't even remember my name until 2 days after I regained counsciousness, had even forgotten how to speak the Tongue.

Headache receded after a day or two. Found a scrap of paper on me with the name of Aelas Silverhair. Name matched that found on a broken, charred and dirty piece of wood which might have been a staff. Assumed this name. Tongue came back to me. Was surprised to be able to pass cantrips.

Rose, found I was in an inn. Was asked to pay for lodging. Not a coin left. Hungry, none cared. Weak. Decided to try and do menial work for coin. Almost got myself killed trying to clear vermin from inn cellar. Found few gems in cellar and traded them for food. Tried other menial work, almost got killed three times. Gave up trying to earn honest coin.

Decided to look for berries in the woods; almost died as soon as I left village. Trapped in village.

Heard about ruins and crypt. Decided to adopt local morals and looted both ruins and crypt. Found gems, coin. Also found hostile and evil creatures. Was terrified. Imp appeared suddenly and killed attackers. Screamed, but turned out I had summoned it. Can summon it more easily now. Terribly useful little thing. Took some pleasure in archery, truly miserable at it, but allows me to stay clear of attackers.

Found more gems, gold. Bought halfway decent bow. Hearing buzzing noise all the time. Start to remember spells. Suspect was apprentice mage.

Met other Quessir. Good cheer. Gave Aelas as my name.

Elf and orc emerged from cellar. Elf heavily wounded and diseased. Suspect orc. Healer turned up and healed kinsman. Also healed orc; could not intervene. Refused payment. Good sort despite being Human. Respect and like her. Chided kinsman for taking up with orc but can't do much.

Followed healer outside and talked. Healer turned out devout follower of Ilmater by the name of Abby Winters. Three vows! Mixes own herbs. Extremely effective; was very interested.

Somehow came to speak of myself and memory loss. Healer showed disturbing insight. Promised to be able to restore memories. Thought about it, have nothing to loose. Living without memory is no life. Was told to travel to hospital in Suzail. Could not afford caravan passage for both of us. Healer unable to pay because no gold (vows). Priest of Kelemvor offered help. Was about to refuse when kinsman came up and offered to escort too. Seemed to trust priest, so gave in. Cure or Death.

Travelled to Suzail. Escort proved essential; many dangers along route. Hospital. Chapel. Donated 10 gold ... hope no-one saw. Healer explained necessary to operate. Demanded details. Details: loss of Tongue indicated severe trauma, well beyond physical head injury; probably magical. Head injury healed, so no point of attack for ordinary Healing. Explained need to re-inflict trauma and use powerful regenerative Healing. Decided to risk it. Felt justified in trusting Healer.

Healer tried to have Kelemvor priest assist with operation. Never! Put foot down; healer agreed to have nurse help instead. Went to wards, lied down, drank sleeping draught.

Woke up. was told operation success. Vague memories of horrible pain. Memories coming back. Name is indeed Aelas Silverhair.

Was with company travelling from Evermeet via Cormanthor to High Forest. Ambushed at night by horribly strong wizards dressed in Red near choke point between Stormhorns and Dragon river. Was tasked to attempt resistance along with other casters. Saw many escape. Had to cover retreat and flee at same time. Trapped. Tried to counterspell wizard. Pain. Darkness.

Took Healer into confidence and told story. Had her promise not to speak to others.

Weeks passed. Confused. What to do? Travel back to Cormanthor? Travel on to High Forest?

Might be able to retrace road to Cormanthor, but know very little of lands here. Remember map of continent, but was rough map. Have little to no tracking skills. Very dangerous to rely on memory of map. Probably will loose way too.

Same problem about travelling on to High Forest. Found kinsman. Servant of Corellon. Oh joy! Spoke to him. Good counsel. Cleared my mind.

Was counseled to proceed slowly and with caution and warned of Red Wizards in Redmist. Was warned against trying to journey on alone. Resolved to stay far from Redmist.

Was reminded to search location of ambush. Now understand that this would take me closer to Redmist. Very afraid. Ambush was no accident, but duty is plain. Must search. Was counseled to take others.
