In the middle of the night someone knocked on the door. Anha woke up and went to the door.
"Who is there?", she asked, but no answer was given.
She asked again, but again no answer.
As she opened the door, she saw a baby on the ground.
" *sighs* Why can't the people bring the children during the day?"
She kneeled down and picked up the baby. As she looked at the baby, she noticed that it was no human, it was an dwarf.
Anha carried the baby inside and closed the door on which stood in iron letters:
'Orphanage'
On the next morning, Anha went into the libary and searched for a book with dwarven names. She returned early in the evening.
"And do you have a name for him?", Uvora asked.
Anha looked at the woman in front of her, seeing an old woman with long, grey hair, blue eyes and a warm smile. When she saw the smile, she had to remember that Uvora smiled all the time, even after the Orphanage had burned down ten years ago. She was always smiling and looking forward.
"I asked you something, Anha." Uvora said with an friendly smile.
"I have one. I think Gegnar sounds good.", Anha said and looked at the bady in the bed.
"Then it is decided.", Uvora said.

Twenty yeras later.
it dosen't matter how much time will past he will never forget the warm smile of Uvora.
Today it's the sixth death day of her, every year he comes to he grve with Anha and every year he must remind of the warm smile of Uvora.
But it dosen't matter he has learned that everything has it time, childhood firends grown up, while he is a child,... now there is noone of his childhood friends left.
Twenty years and noone wanted him, some of his friends find new parents, some not, but they have found thier place in live,.. he looks in the corner of his room,
"What brings the next day for me? What brings the future for me? Will I ever find my place in live?, he tought.
But this day he must give his best,.. he knewd today will came a gnomish wizard to test the childs in the "Orphanage" to thier magical potential. The last time he comes Gegnar was to young to join the test's, but this year it's his year he tought's, his only chance to find a home... to find a person who knows the pain of the long lived races.. who knows how hard it is to say goodbye to people who grown faster then yourself.
Only for this moment he read all kind of books to expand his knowledge about all the things which seems important to become a wizard.
The day come when the gnome visit the "Orphanage", Gegnar did his best to impress the wizard... and he reached his goal as he drop his bags in his new room, his new home, in the tower of his teacher.

"Well, Gegnar be carefull if my relatives ever visit me", the old gnome says; "particularly when my niece Lizza visit us, trouble always follow's her".
Gegnar nods, but cannot really undestand why his master didn't like his relatives much, but he don't care about it much.
"Oh before i forget i will show you my zoo. It will be one of your duty's to take care of the beast" Perugo say's.
He showed Gegnar the zoo in the basement.
"This is Otto, this Ulf, this is Yugon," the wizard intoduce.
Gegnar looks at the creatures. he saw the otyugh, the owlbear, and the hellhound. he don't know why but he was impressed by the hellhound. His master saw this too and says:
"aye Yu is a little bit odd, she is a girl but she wants to be called by a more male name, well i think i said already she is odd or?"
Geg nods briefly without looking up from the dog.
Perugo continous with his tour.
"well,... This is a fire mephit,.. but a real annoying thing... he is a beard tugger" when he ended the sentence his points to his beard.
"when your beard grows you will know what i mean" a little smile formed on his lips.
He shows Gegnar all the creatures in his basement.
"Why is this mephit not in a cage* Gegnar ask and point to a ice blue mephit.
"Because this is my familiar, someday you will create a bond between you and and your choosen familiar, but before you have to learn the basics."
"well, well, tomorow i will teach you something for the rest of the day you will take care of the beast's and be carefull, they are not harmless" with this word s the gnome leave.

"Be carefull boy" Perugo says, in his voice was the sign of a bad foresight. Both of them walked to the door, Gegnar notived the sweat perls on his masters forehead.
"Please Gegnar open the door" his master says.
Gegnar opens the door and bows to welcome the visitor:
"Welcome to the tower of Perugo Gest, please come in."
The girl step in. Her face was surrounded by brown curly hair, in her brwn eyes burn the fire of the youth, her big smile could melt ice.
"Hello uncle" the girl says.
"Hello Lizza, nice to see you again*
"Really? Why did you never answerd the letters i wrote you, then."
Gegnar must remember that everyday a letter from her arrived and smiles to himself, becaus his master only opened one letter in a month.
In the last letter she mentioned that she comes to a visit.
"A luck that he opened this letter, when not we don't were aware of her arrivial." he thought.
"So this is the one who stole my place?" she asked.
"Huh? i never have stolen something." Gegnar said with a angry voice.
"Really? Why not? Its funny" Lizza says.
Perugo falls her into the word, "No, i choose him for my student, because he has enough resonsibilty in him to be a good user of the weave. You will only use the weave for your own, no matter how many you hurt or maybe kill with some dangerous spells you olny cast to see what they do."
"Bah, you only fear my talent and that i become a better wizard than you." Lizza answered.
"No, i don't fear your power, because i know what to do and you not. Besides Gegnar bring her to her room please." he closed.
"Aye master."
He gesture her to follow him and she does, but on the half of the way she was not behind him anymore. Gegnar see thw open door too the basement and hurry's down.
There she opened the cage of Ulf. Gegnar springs and catch her right before the owlbear hit her with one of his mighty claws, but therefore Gegnar was hit by the attack in his back.
Suddenly the owlbear was pushed back in his cage and the door closed and locked. Gegnar looks up and saw his master in th door of the basement, his head had the color of a deep red and with another gesture Lizza was pushed trough the room.
"What are you thinking?", he shouted, "in your room, now!"
Lizza stand up and hurrys to her room.
Perugo stands over Gegnar and uses gives him a potion to drink. Gegnar feels how the wound on his bag closed.
"See, that is why I'm set all the traps in my house. To avoid her doing something wrong... again." Perugo says.

Time past and Gegnar grows up, during that he fell in love with Lizza not realizing that she only plays her game with him. That is why he was out someday to meet her, not knowing that her plan was only to lure him outside. While he was out two thieves Lizza hired break into the tower and opened the cages in the basement, the creatures went on rampage, all only the mephit and yugon not. Perugo fight against the monsters all killed all of them btu in teh moment he killed the Otyugh teh creature bites in his foot and blood runs out of the wound. Through the blood the magical protection trigger was activated and perugo was teleported to a save place. AS Gegnar returened home he only saw the ruined rooms and he blood covered shoe in the mouth of the Otyugh and he thought his master is death. A few days later Gegnar left Waterdeep and start his travel to Cormyr.
In a tower in Lantan there sits Perugo watching him through a magical mirror and planning to let Gegnar not know that he is alive.
