since ive only been playing here for about a day and a half.(and died many times) i was wondering if there are any places besides the well in town that a level 1 or 2 char. can make a living? I must say that this pw seems to be more around the lines of what i have been looking for in the nwn game since it came out. Seems to have a good mix of crafting and rp and battles. so far im impressed, but cant help but wonder why there arent many more people that play here. well any help on the first question would be great. thanks arkainde (Brynn S'Haldor)

Welcome. 1st piece of advice: This is not like the single player campaign. Not sure if you have played on other servers or not, but that was the first wake up call when I started here.
2nd piece of advice: asking in character can yield just as many results as asking here. Not saying you did anything wrong, but you might get faster results asking someone in the game.
To answer your question: The crypts to me are an excellent place to start for most any character. Or you can check out the basement of the regal griffon inn. Here is a large hint though if you are planning a trip to the crypts. Bring a ranged weapon.
Once again, welcome.

Well *chuckle* The well is actually not a good place to start out for a 1 or 2 level character. It has things down there that if you face alone will likely make you meet Merris the hard way. The crypts or Ruins to the south part of town are better adventuring location. I agree with Quadhund you can learn a lot by asking around in game. However with the *cough* lag don't depend too heavily on missile weapons. Useful yes, but the creatures some times move awful fast. If you have a small group then the Kobalds to the south or the Orcs to the east are possible. One last piece of advice is that any time you descend down to the next level of a crypt or cave expect a great deal more difficulty. Just ask around you will be surprised what you might just find out.

Best advice anywhere in Cormyr.....if you go alone, prepare to die. The whole world is built largely around the concept of parties and group play!
Second best advice - know when to run!

why didnt anyone bring up the basement of the inn? It's the easiest place in the mod- the rats have 1 hitpoint each.

why didnt anyone bring up the basement of the inn? It's the easiest place in the mod- the rats have 1 hitpoint each. I have on another thread...and imho should be the first place one goes after creating a character. reasons why: #1: No need to wait to rest. If you get dinged up by some uncanny bad luck and get critted a bunch you can (walk) upstairs to rest. #2: Easy money. This will net you a few items/gold which you can use to buy some CLW potions before heading elsewhere #3: Easy XP. 'nuff said. Now I don't recomend more than 2 trips max, depending on character class. Once you have some potions, several weapons, decent armor, and a sturdy shield (or meat shield for us who have familiars) then you should really be in the tomb fighting undead. ;D

Rats are one of the greates dangers to low levels... I mean you can't hit them with your bad AB, if you don't have much hp they eat you alive in no time and they come in groups... I just got my lvl 2 ranger's ass kicked by 4 rats (one was dire one but rat all the same)

I say the crypt by merriss is the best place to start. get a ranged weapon and take out those zombies. they are one of the few enemies you can run faster than when things get a little hairy. (of course, the skeletons are pretty quick.) Then the tombs across the road from the crypt and the well, and in a couple levels the kobold caves. Helpful to have someone else along for the last couple though. Cheers, and good luck!
