Quin grew up in the city of Amn near the docks of Athkatla. He usually worked off and on as a dishwasher for "Thumb" at The Sea's Bounty. One of his favorite things to do was to sit in the back of the Inn before a shift and watch the people. Another joy was taking a stroll along the docks and smelling the sweet spices, and maybe going around town and spending a whole day sketching beautiful peices of art. Even go down to the archery contests and play about there. One time he won a contest for fastest shot while his friends were watching. That's when they started calling him Quin Quickshot. Every once in a while he might run into a captain complaining about not having anywhere to sell his load. Having some connections he would help the captian out for a price of course. All in all he had a nice childhood.
It all happened so suddenly, his fellow friends grew up quite a bit faster than him. He realized right away that he wasn't one of the humans that he had spent so much time with. One day while he was sitting in the back of the Inn doing his normal he noticed someone make there way past him. This person was being so silent and was so hard to see he thought it was just his imagination. Then the shadow bumped into him. After that a week passed and he was taken, not so quietly to a back room of an old warehouse. There he was taken in by the Shadow Theives. Told that for messing up the mission of a comrade he could either be sold to a captain sitting near for slavery or join the guild. It wasn't so hard a choice. The guild mostly ran throughout Athkatla and it was an oppurtunity. He grabbed up his little belongings and started Theives Camp in a sence. He had a natural talent for hiding, and being silent. He was one of those people that if you walked into a room you didn't notice him until he said something. So came his nickname Shades. One of the first things out of anthers mouth was "Shades! Quin! why do you do that!" He spent long nights studying and was easily promoted to run heists.
He was so good at hiding and staying out of sight he was apointed to a Spy Master. He did small missions of gaining information to find out the next day there was an assasination on the same person he followed. He spent a lot of time working the streets and organizing heists between his missions. One day he was brought in shadow before the council of six and they gave him a special mission. He sighed and nodded to the shadows about him as he made his way to the spot. He grabbed up the book of magic that he was to get and six mages made their way toward him. He was stunned at how magic could turn the odds against him. He ran for his life ditching the book somewhere he could find it later. Later that same night they finially caught up to him blasting him with magics. He fell into a heap of burns none of which touched his face. None of the burns left much for scars but he did awake the next day to pain. One of the people he worked the streets with took pity on him and nursed him to health. The Shadow Theives thought him dead for a time. Then he made his unwise desicion and went back for the book. Recovering it was not hard. He took it back to the theives guild and they promised him free rain among wherever he chose to be one with shadow. They did not think him to leave town. He took his earnings from the book and bought supplies and a nice nobles outfit with a feathered hat prone to the Amn area. Then he took the first ship out and never came back with the thought in his mind
"No prisoner am I now that you have freed me. No slave am I now that I can reign."
After making port at Baulders Gate he spent a good deal of his time outdoors. He made his way to Scornubel then Iriaebor and of course finially to Proskur where he crossed into Cormyr. In hopes to leave the Shadow Theives behind.
