Randa's journal is a somewhat haggerd looking thing, worn leather cover with bent pages and lots of dirt...and other less identifiable stains. Despite this, it is still legible and anyone who manages to look inside can read the following.
The Battle of the Orb
Today I finally arrived on the outskirts of Cormyr. Haela be praised, for my glorious pilgramege is finally at it's end. It is here in this troubled land that I shall weave a mighty legend of myself and my undertakings, all for my Ladies greater glory. Having but a mace and a small shield to face the no doubt countless toothy monsters I boldly prepared to cross over into the country to begin laying a truly righteous beating upon evil. I was stopped, however, and told that I would need to procure an 'adventuring charter'. It would seem to me that a country beset by such ills as I have heard rumored would be eager for another warrior to smite the hoards of rampaging monsters. Nontheless, I did as directed and was told it would cost a thousand gold lions. By the Great Flamebolt! A thousand Lions for the privalege of trying to help rid the land of evil! I protested strenuously at this outlandish law, to no avail. My strength lies in arms I am afraid, and not in diplomacy. Grudgingly, I was forced to admit I lacked the coin and was directed to meet with a priest who needed aid. This I did, and he told me a nearby tomb had been overrun by the undead. Haela be praised! A chance to prove my worth and engage in a righteous dust up with the vile minions of darkness, and so soon upon the heels of my arrival. In the lobby I announced my intent to strike a blow for goodness and decency, and that forthwith would be sallying forth to smite the evil which even now festered in the tomb. Those present simply stared at me, no doubt in awe of my courage and determination. With a brief prayer to the Lady of the Fray, I entered the tomb to confront the undead. Mortal combat did take place, as foul skeletons no doubt animated by some vile necromancy attempted to deter me. My faith was strong however, and I am pleased to say I delivered unto the animated dead a truly righteous beat down in the name of light and goodness. After several glorious battles, I came at last to the source of the now crushed abominations, a strange orb. Channeling the very power of Haela herself, I shattered the orb thus thwarting the nefarious plans of whatever vile entity had created it. Everyone was well pleased with my impressive success, although they hid it well behind their well disciplined military facade. Having proved my mettle, I was then granted entry into Cormyr. Praise Haela for the opportunity to engage in such a righteous battle, and for the great victory it brought.
