The first thing folk usually notice about Murom is the hideous disfiguration of his lower face, and that he has difficulty speaking: a hoarse whisper is all he can usually manage.
He will resignedly tell anyone who asks that he was captured by Orcs when in his teens, and was their slave for two years or more, during which time they found it amusing to try to alter his features to look more orc-like.
Being a fairly bright lad, Murom bided his time, learnt to understand the language of his captors, and used this knowledge to make his escape.
Now he makes his way as a ranger (he is generally happier in animal company than with other humans). But he has a deep and lasting hatred of orcs, and ruthlessly slaughters any he finds.
He has learnt to tolerate half-orcs, but prefers to avoid their company.
