Having regained his sense of self no more than tenday ago, Idris was fast on his way to regaining and taking back his life.
He had made way with a well known powerful wizard to the Keep of the Triadics. It was a long walk, but the goal was met. Once there he was lead on a tour to the various shrines, and the local cemetery, later making way to the innards of the Keep. Several folks of note that he met were Henrik, Holance, Vel, Kiki, and of course Elon... perhaps the most knowing of Idris and his past.
Many things were spoken of and discussed both in the Hall of Three Thrones, and by fireside at the guest house. Though feeling that perhaps some cards were held too close to their chest, Idris understood their intentions. Elon made it a point that there were no ranking Tyrrans in the Order, and if Idris were to join he would be one of the first. This is understandable.
There are plenty of Tormish (though those of an Order prefer to be called Tormtar to be differentiated from layworshipers) due to their faith having undergone a renaissance following the Time of Troubles. The Ilmateri for they are one to join a fold. Tyrrans are cut from a different portion of the same clothe. It would seem that he would not have much to contribute. A Tyrran who conributes nothing, is no Tyrran at all. Perhaps this is why there are so few of their number. The Keep was impressive, one could say it had everything... what then could Idris bring to the table. There are Tyrrans of note, a Sir Edthin, and a Trence, who in the past were prospective on the Order... but in the end did not join. Would Idris be the same... or who he be different?
After lengthy discussions with Elon, nothing had quite clicked. Until that is, Elon offered his books of study for Idris to borrow. There were three books. The Divine Law for Tyr, The Example of Ilmater for Ilmater, and The Penance of Duty for Torm. The books of Torm and Ilmater were distinctly of their respective faiths... but the Law Divine for Tyr, the book meant to teach of the Maimed One... was more a book of the Triad than it was an example of Tyr. To use a term loosely and without malice, it felt a diluted version of Tyr's teachings. This was the missing piece to the puzzle, and Idris would pray to Tyr in thanks for leading him on this path. He would grow, and they would grow. Perhaps this might be the initial reason that other Tyrrans and felt something was missing and could not properly associate. A Tyrran was not a Tormtar, let alone an Ilmateri... a Tyrran was a Tyrran.
This was a blessing for Idris... and perhaps it was by divine providence. In this matter Idris would be useful. He could impart what he knew of Tyr to the others of the Triadic Order as he learned more of the faiths of Torm and Ilmater... perhaps it was for this reason a Tyrran might be welcomed, if not needed in the Order. An exchange of teachings, in this manner the old man felt at ease. He would later chuckle, at the thought to being relegated to the rank of squire if he were accepted... it would have been at least thirty-five years since he was last a squire. This was of course, if they had even wanted someone of his age. Idris was not sure, for after the meeting with Holance, Henrik, and Vel he would wait with Elon at the guest cottage for some time. He would then sleep there for the hours had gone late into the early morning. Perhaps the next day would bring more to their first meeting.
Before he slept, by fire side in the guest house by the Keep, he would open the books borrowed and right them onto parchment....
The Example of Ilmater Gentle and good-spirited, Ilmater is a quiet, even-tempered deity who willingly shoulders and the burdens and tears of a long suffering world. Although he is slow to anger, the wrath of Ilmater is terrible in the face of extreme cruelty or atrocities. He takes great care to reassure and protect children and young creatures, and he takes exceptional offense at those who would harm them. Despite the wounds he bears with perseverance, he is warm, kindly, and comforting.
Following in their lord's example, the Church of Ilmater is often misunderstood in the world. Pitied and scorned by some, the church of Ilmater has a large following in Faerun. In a cruel world, the suffering, the sick, and the poor have come to rely upon the faithful of Ilmater for succor.
The dark hearted, the cruel, and the tyrants see the faith of Ilmater as being weak and in so underestimate them.
Their perseverence (perseverance) is their strength.
The Penance of Duty Following the Time of Troubles, the religious hierarchy if Torm's faithful was completely overhauled. Incensed by his followers persecution of other godly religions in Tantras, Torm has dictated a series of responsibilities and obligations for his followers to atone for their collective failings.
These "Debts" are collectively know as the Penance of Duty. Tormtar are required to actively implement and coordinate efforts and actions dictated by the Penance of Duty in addition to the following, the normal tenants of their fate (faith). Tormtar are required to follow the penance of duty without fail.
The Debt of Persecution - to repay the persecution of of other religions, the truly faithful must aid other goodly religions in reestablishing themselves.
The Debt of Dereliction - To atone from (for) the abdication of duty to guard against the strive (strife) that led to the Time of Trubles, the Tormtar must expend all possible effort to eliminate any surviving cults of Bane and to oppose all efforts of Cyric and the Zhentarim.
The Debt of Destruction - Followers of Torm are obligated to relieve the destruction to the magic weave incurred during the Time of Troubles. All dead magic areas are to be reported and repaired. In addition, all permanent results of the magical chaos of the Time of Troubles are to be similarly undone and all wild magic areas reported and eradicated.
