Player name: Rosving
Character name: Dannyl Jaks
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Class: Ranger
Dannyl grew up in a small farming community in southern Cormyr. He grew up helping in the fields, swimming with the other children in the lake or chasing squirrels in the nearby forest.
Dannyl had lost his father, Rulf, at an early age. Growing up, the memory of him faded with time. His mother, Jenna, had told Dannyl that his father had died defending her from a vicious orc. Strange enough, the other townsfolk, never wanted to talk about this incident, when Dannyl brought it up. Eventually, he let it go.
Having no husband, Jenna often hired people to help around the farm.
When Dannyl was about 10 years old, travelers came to his home. They were armed as if going to battle. They merely asked to spend the night in the barn. Wanting no trouble, Jenna let them stay. The next morning, the band moved on. All save for one.
A single man stayed behind. This man, a ranger by the name of Rand, would become Dannyl’s teacher.
Rand had stayed behind because of Jenna. They soon became a couple, and Dannyl had a family once more.
It seemed natural to Rand to pass on his knowledge of the woods to Dannyl. Dannyl was taught how to approach and understand animals, as well as handling a bow and sword. The years went by, and one evening, another party of armor clad travelers came to Dannyl’s home.
As the travelers knocked on their door, Rand ordered Jenna and Dannyl into the bedroom. They were to stay in there, and keep quiet. Soon after, voices filled the living room, as the travelers entered. Dannyl had to see what was going on with his own eyes. Standing behind the bedroom door, he looked into the common room where they all stood.
There were four strangers talking to Rand. Dannyl could not hear what they talked about. The strangers were all clad in brown traveling cloaks. Dannyl had a certain feeling that Rand knew these people. And that was all he saw, before he was pulled away from his mother. After a short while they left, and Jenna went to join Rand. She pleaded him to tell her what these strange men were about, but Rand remained silent for the rest of the evening.
The following morning Rand was gone. He had not said anything to Jenna or Dannyl. His traveling gear was missing, so Dannyl gathered that Rand had left on his own some time in the night. Everything else seemed untouched.
Both Dannyl and Jenna feared for what was going on. Why would he leave like that? What was going on? ”You must find him” Jenna was quick to say. ”Run. Find him and bring him back to us”. ”Get your equipment – your’re leaving at once”. ”Shouldn’t I stay here with you”? Dannyl answered. ”We don’t know what’s going on”. ”He could just be out gathering wood”. ”Use those tracking skills of yours to find him”, she shot back. ”You will do as you are told”. ”If Rand is just out gathering wood, you will both be home soon”. ”But I have a bad feeling about this, my dear Dannyl. Just like when your...”. She bit back her words.
Soon after Dannyl was out of the door. He had no say in the matter. He soon picked up Rand’s tracks. They were easy to follow...to easy, Dannyl thought to himself. And Rand was not gathering wood, that much was certain.
Dannyl picked up his pace, as he ran across the field.
