My arrival here is a blur of pain, blood, and darkness. Unlike those poor poets for whom life is a blur of pain, blood and darkness, this was a rather unique case, and I hope sincerely that it will remain so. Somewhere on the road, I know not where, or when, I had chosen my campsite particularly poorly and was set upon in the middle of the night. I was only peripherally aware as most of my belongings were made away with. I do recall vividly a hand reaching for the holy symbol about my neck, and that I believe was when I awoke in earnest. I recall using my brief training with a young monk back at the Order to deter the would-be thief, but the single-mindedness with which I act prompted me to notice him without noting the fact that he had many other assailants with him. To be sure, an ordinary band of thugs would hardly have been beyond my means, under normal circumstances. The gods, however, seldom bless me with normal circumstances, and I find myself generally grateful for this.
I recall being struck by something. Likely an axe or halberd. Something with an edge, to be certain. There was a rather sharp pain, and I do not clearly recall much of what transpired thereafter. The next thing I recalled clearly was awakening in the Regal Griffon. Thereafter, it seems, all has been well. Or close enough that it matters very little indeed.
I have met several Purple Dragon Knights. They seem honorable folk, and those I have met are among the only people of any race or creed who truly live up to their reputation, for they demonstrate themselves to be expert swordsmen and honorable folk.
