Name: Dornak FireBeard
Race: Shield Dwarf
Gender: Male
Age: 51
Hair Color: Red
Eye Color: Brown
Height: 4’ 4”
Weight: 178lbs
Appearance: His rough hard face shows many scars and old wounds, but a young playful child like glint shines in his eyes. He keeps his head shaved at all times and has a thick bright red beard which seems to be well grooved.
Deity: Clanggedin SilverBeard (Father of Battle)
Personality: Dornak is easily bored and rarely demonstrates any virtue of patience. He is uncomfortable in most environments unless it’s a pub or a battlefield and does not make any effort in holding his tongue to let people know it. His sharp drunken tongue often gets him into other trouble as well. He doesn’t seem to care much about anything but searching for the next pub or battle. He lives his life like a jolly carefree wandering Dwarf, but three things he does take serious are Friendship, Clanggedin SilverBeard the Father of Battle, and his mother.
He is friendly to most people and gives even strangers a chance before he decides “if they are worth a spit or not”, but he always makes sure that he doesn’t get too emotionally attached to anyone or anything. For his past has made him believe that doing this “is a mistake which can wound you greater then any steel.”
But there are a selected few who do have this bond with him and those who have a friend for life. Dornak loves to joke around but his sense of humor is strange and is often misunderstood as verbal abuse. He doesn’t much care for Elves and he loathes Orcs and Ogres.
Background: Dornak is from the North lands but when he was young his father, a warrior and follower of Clanggedin died in an ambush of Ogres and Orcs. His mother then decided to pack all they had and moved him and his brother to WaterDeep where her family was from. His mother did her best but Dornak and his brother often found themselves in trouble at the pubs and with the law. He had always remembered the tales and the words of Clanggedin that his father told him but It wasn’t until his mother gave Dornak his father’s Holy symbol (Two crossed battleaxes) and his Magic Great Axe "FireBeard" that he decided to completely devote his life to The Father of Battle.
He stayed in WaterDeep most of his life, earning barely enough money to support his nightly activities at the pub and to maintain his equipment. Mostly he worked as a sellsword for wizards, merchants, or anyone who would spare a few coins to hire him, he was on jobs often because he didn’t ask much for wages. It was more important to Dornak to stay busy and support the ways of The Father of Battle Clanggedin then to make a coin.
So as Dornak stayed busy, doing honest work, and harnessing his combat skills his Brother Gornak become more and more involved in the criminal aspects of WaterDeep. Dornak didn’t speak much to Gornak but Gornak knew Dornak disapproved of his career choices. Eventually the two brothers contact with each other slowly dwindled down until finally they didn’t hear from each other for countless months on end.
Until one day, word reached Dornak that Gornak had stolen goods from a merchant but this was not an ordinary merchant. This merchant was also a well know fence in the black market. He was know only as Harak, and to make matters worse he was well know through out the lands. So Harak had Gornak captured and brought to him, and when asked about the stolen goods Gornak lied and said that Dornak, his brother had them.
So Harak had a waitress paid off to slip Dornak’s drink a drug that knocked him out. When Dornak awoke he was tied up in front of a large Half-orc and three other thug looking humans. The man said he worked for Harak and the thugs in the background called the Half-orc Ollgrin. Ollgrin then told Dornak that if his master’s goods or 4000gd where not returned with in two weeks he would kill his brother and they would tell the Lords of Waterdeep that Dornak was a thief.
So Dornak scrapped together all his coin and starting taking jobs that he knew would make good profit but were far more dangerous then normal, but Dornak’s planned didn’t work because he had to spend too much of his earnings on Healing kits and other supplies. So with only a few days left and not enough coin he prayed to Clanggedin for an answer, but the only vision that he saw was a large ship with a sail and his father’s magical great axe, FireBeard.
FireBeard had been in the in family for countless years. Back in the beginning its use to represent the pride of the Clan, He who wielded FireBeard was the head of the Clan but as Clans fought and broke apart and moved to other strongholds and other took control the axe took on a new meaning. It became a family heirloom of the FireBeards. For countless years it was past from father to eldest son, but Dornak knew his brother's life was on the line.
So with great regret he sold the axe to a merchant, and took the money to Ollgrin. Ollgrin released Gornak and Dornak didn’t even look at his brother he merely turned away and headed to the tavern. He was so angry at his brother for getting himself into so much trouble that the only way to get him out was to sell FireBeard. He spent the whole night wandering from pub to pub drinking, and sulking over his lost father’s axe. That when he finally did stumble out of the pub he was far from where he was staying and he knew wouldn’t make it home in his drunken state so he headed for the closest Inn. He paided the Inn keeper the last of his gold and went to sleep.
When he awoke he found himself on a ship on the sea. When he asked what had happened, the Captain explained that Dornak tried to paid him for a place to sleep. When the captain tried to explain that it wasn’t an Inn but a ship Dornak was so drunk that he just got angry and muttered something about "just take the bloody coins", and threw the bag with the last of his gold and past out on the deck.
Dornak was angry but perhaps this was all part of Clanggedin vision. So he spent the rest of the time on ship thinking and decided to swear to Clanggedin Silverbeard that he would not stop searching until one day he would find his father axe and get it back into the family. When the ship stopped at Isinhold Dornak thanked the Captain and got off.
