Background: Tahlathvan was born into a tribe of wood elves who are guardians of the Hullack Forest in Cormyr. He has been trained in the ways of Mielikki and her forests since his youth and has grown to become a remarkable ranger who is adept with blade and bow. During his thirtieth year of life he was initiated into the Baelvanna or the Forest Guardians, a union of rangers who seek to rid the forests of evil creatures and protect it at all costs. Now thirty-four, Tahlathvan has wandered to the village of Isinhold, far west of the Hullack Forests. He seeks to unravel the meaning of a mysterious dream that he believes is a warning from Mielikki about the possible destruction of his forest home.
