//Hey people I have the idea of making a game inside the game. One played by mages and others with arcane powers.
I´m just braining some ideas that can be put in to the board game.. I´m hereby asking all that would find the fun in such a game to come with your inputs and ill sum it all up at some point.
You ideas can be everything from DC rolls / hit point / moves pr round spells and what ever your mind finds fun to put in such a game. //
(my ideas so fare) The arcane war game
Ground rules of the game
You need a table to play it on.
The table it has a red line at the middle and 4 black lines on each side.
Your mage then magically summons 200 units of a single race to represent your army for the game.
Orc’s / Dwarf strong in melee
Human’s good resistance against range attack and strong armor
Elf’s good range attacks
Hin’s good evade and fast attacks
You can divide your troops in to range and melee as it fits you best but when you have made your choice you can’t change back
If the playing mages decide to make the game more interesting you can agree on being able to summon from 1 to 3 aid summons
From the list of summon you can get
Pit fall / Can be placed from line 1 to line 3 Catapults / Walls/with 1 gate Sigetowers Burning oil Ladders A hero / ether a melee warrior or a range mage.
Depending on the agreement of the playing mages you can decide to randomly spawn one magical monster that will land on the middle line in the 4th round of the game.
The magical monster can be one of four:
Dragon / can move 1 line and shoot another 1 line in the same round / claw attack in the same line as it stands in. 30 undead warriors / moves 1 line pr. Round / sword attack in the same line as it stands in.
Hill giant king / moves 1 line pr. Round / Axe attack at the same line as it stands in.
30 undead archers. / moves 1 line pr. round/ Can shoot to a maximum of 2 lines.

I'm not exactly sure how this game would work within the game. You're not thinking of mages actually summoning all this stuff, just adventurers RPing that they're playing a board game?

I would correct the slew of mistakes, but I'm really not in the mood for it right now. What's the end goal? Eliminating all pieces? Taking the center line, or the far side of the board? Is there some win-all piece or any element of chance involved? Do you have numbers for any of these units, on strength, range, hits to destroy? You need to consider all of the above when making a tactical game- I know because I've been working on trying to code one for a while.

Think before you jump, Ranger. If I had intended that to be an attack of any sort, you would know it. I was asking where he intended to go with this before offering any thoughts on the matter; I am not going to build half a system in my head with that vague of an idea. It has potential, but needs more to work with.

The plan in my head was to win the game you had to kill alle the other persons (summons)that way it would make sence to make walls and play defencive just as much as it would make sence to take the strong (offencive) summons. my question was to get ideas on hp on the summon and strength to as im not all in to that but i think it would be fun to try and make something like this for Mage RP ingame

But I think it would be interesting to try Sham. Need to work it out more of course. See the above reply to Aris. If I had intended that in a mean way, I would have phrased it far differently- I would appreciate people not trying to jump down my throat on one of the few times my statements aren't as pretty as they could be. Now, with the added ideas, you can begin to work a little more... Say, split these summons into small squads of troops. Add in movement numbers, hit numbers, range numbers, and damage numbers to each, and you've got unit capability. Next add in a few rules.. maybe a summoner could forsake a turn to put up a fortification, or perform some other action to hinder their opponent that isn't direct. Add in a diceroll to determine a random effect of wild magic every few turns, or maybe toss in a unique unit or two that can, say, turn an enemy into an ally, or stonewall a squad.
