My name is Fiona Lightfellow. I serve as a Firstsword in the Royal Monster Hunting Corps and have done a lot of charity work in Arabel. I would consider it honor if you have heard of me, but I will not presume such given the breadth of your duties.
I am writing to you with an offer:
A duel.
... a friendly one, of course. The terms can be whatever you please, and as private or public as your fancy takes. The offer is not made with the hopes of earning "bragging rights" nor to simply see "if I am better than you." I have no interest in attempting to "take you down a notch" nor am I meaning insult or ill will to you. The offer is simply made from one warrior to the next, as I have been told you are quite remarkable in that regard.
I am not arrogant enough to think you have the time to merely indulge me, and I will understand if you are unwilling or unable to take up my offer, nor do I know that its even proper that I ask the woman I am sworn to protect to participate in a dangerous sport. I will also understand if this letter never reaches you. However, I do promise you a fight and a show of skill that would be worthy of your time as a warrior, should such things still interest you. Regardless of whether you accept, deny, or ignore my offer, I remain dutifully yours and offer my greatest gratitude for you time.
