Tilldreath stood staring at the fire. It was still warm as he watched the fire. The screams had stopped but the fire remained.
He looked down at his hands. The spell still glowed brightly on them. Ephion strode over to the broken child.
"it's time to go My'lord" "where?" he responded eyes never shifting from the embers "Away, far, far away" Tilldreath slowly crawled onto the hellhounds back and directed him north with his mind.
He looked back at the embers of his home once more the first tear since it all happened fell from his eye. "We go north Ephion, wake me when we hit a village"
Tilldreath slowly drifted into an exhausted sleep upon his Familiars back. Ephion glance his red eyes up to the child's sleeping body. "He's frail broken lost..........perfect"
Ephion walked north long into the night keep an eye out for anything. He stopped and sniffed before setting Tilldreath off his back and onto the ground. "Show yourself, or I will burn this place down looking" the Hound snarled fire swirling in his breath.
An elderly man walked out, similar to Ephion's last master. "Hello little hound, I see the young one survived" Ephion grunted and sat down on the grass eyeing the man
"you would be his uncle no?" The man nodded looking over Tilldreath's sleeping body. "such a pity so young and already a killer, how many survived?" "only My'lord did, his Mage fire engulfed the most flammable part of the mansion"
"I see, well carry him to my estate, i'll give him a bed for two years But after that you both will have to leave Thesk" Ephion sighed and nodded picking up Tilldreath's tired body.
"it's going to be a tough year" Ephion grunted. The man chuckled "perhaps but he must be stronger before he leaves"
Tilldreath creaked his eyes open to see Ephion sitting at the foot of his bed eyeing him with an unblinking stare. "Ephion? Where are we?" "Your uncles estate My'lord he's given you shelter for two human years, then we must leave here and Thesk entirely" Tilldreath nodded and heaved out of bed arching his back and placing a hand over the Infernal Tattoo across his chest "I need more power.....-much- more.
Ephion smiled and grinned "Then that is what you shall have My'lord" Within the Hellhounds dark mind things began to take place "soon he will succumb and then his soul will be lost forever"
Tilldreath moved to the mirror staring at his reflection "what was my name Ephion?" "A curious question My'lord, but your were named Tilldreath after the family founder Tilldreath of Theskar" Tilldreath stared longer at the reflection and before turning to his hound "No more. Forget that name and all it meant I am Arician you hear me Ephion?" The hound bowed his head in acknowledgement "Either way you are My'lord" Arician turned to his reflection and picked up the scissors. Reaching back he grabbed the only part of his hair not turned blue in the accident in one fluid cut he removed it.
"Tilldreath died, burned with his family. I am Arician"

"Come on Strike Arician STRIKE ME!" Arician's uncle yelled pointing at him with his blade. Arician hauled himself back into stance, it'd been nearly two years and he still wasn't strong enough. Ephion watched as the two spared their steel clanging into the afternoon.
Arician tried to thrust into his uncle once more but found his blade flying upwards instead. Furious he uttered the words and brought his hands out dark energy blasting out from them. His uncle scoffed as a single hand sent the energy in all directions save into himself. "getting better, soon you'll be able to survive out there.
Arician panted tiredly his arms sagging as his blade flew to the ground and stabbed the dirt near his foot. Wiping his brow he walked over to his lazy familiar and order him off the ground. "yes my'lord?" Ephion grunted obviously disgruntled from the command. "take my blade to the armory and fetch me the third grimore" "as you command My'lord" Ephion said he stalked off to complete the tasks at hand.
In his room Arician collapsed onto his bed with a grunt. He then awoke sweat pouring from his brow and panting. He wiped his brow and looked out the window to see a Theskian night. Shaking his head he called out to his Familiar. Ephion pushed open the door and sat in front of the child "yes My'lord?" "Bring my the grimore and a cup of water" Arician pushed off his bed and pulled on his night robe. Soon he'd be outside in the wide world of Fearun. But first he needed more power so much more.
Ephion returned book in-between his jaws and the glass balanced atop it "your working a bit hard for a child of only seven' Arician grabbed the glass and chugged down the water "What does that matter, my mind is full of knowledge and power. My age is nothing but time" Ephion sighed as he placed the book down. The boy was indeed corrupting but far to fast for just a single hellhound to control soon he would breach the second circle and his sword skills would sharpen into an art form. Shaking his head he jumped through a portal of brimstone and sulphur then another down into the hells. At least he could still go and nap.

Arician awoke and stared at the ceiling. Today he had to leave. Not just his uncles estate but all of Thesk in under a week or else his uncle had to send out hunting parties. He stood and tugged on some bland clothing. Nice simple Theskian attire, with no house sigils or colours. He called for Ephion but the Hound was simply behind him waiting. "GAH!, what're you doing there?" Ephion grinned as his eyes flashed "waiting of course my'lord we've a busy night"
Arician packed some bags onto Ephion's back before hoping on himself and blessing his hound with increased strength. He pointed at the north window and the Hound jumped through it landing in the estates front garden. "where too My'lord?" Arician looked about in thought. "We head for the sword coast, if we're lucky we can live around there for a time then come home" Ephion headed for the nearest exit to the estate "why come back My'lord?" "Because Ephion, I am Still Hellscarem and I will restore my family dead or otherwise.
They reached the nearest gate and Ephion quickly bit through the lock melting it with his fiery jaws. Pushing it open they continued into the night. Ephion wondered what would become of them at the sword coast. A place of danger fortune and adventure. But most importantly power.

Arician awoke on Ephion's back it was almost dawn. He order Ephion to stop. "Something the matter my'lord?" Arician got off the hound back and did some stretches. "yes I've slept till dawn with no idea of where we are going" Ephion simply grinned and pointed a foot towards an inn. "I've been taking you somewhere we can find transport of course" Arician stared at the inn somewhat then sighed as he walked towards it.
Pushing open the doors he surveyed the inn, it was a typical Theskian inn sitting right at the border. Merchants, Mercenary groups and travelling monks visiting the local shrines and monasteries. Ephion walked ahead towards a group of black leather clad humans. Two men and three women all with some sort of patch on their arms. Ephion silently told his master they were a mercenary group and it would be best to travel with them.
Arician strode up with his usual noble posture one thing he'd never lose. "which of you is in charge?" he spoke in damaran as his common was poor and any leader should speak where he travels. The armoured mercenaries simply glanced to each other bar one, A large well kept man certainly not the face of a mercenary but the blades on his side spoke otherwise. "That'd be me little one and Why do you ask?" His damaran wasn't bad but it still made Arician wince at his pronunciation. "I seek passage to the sword coast at any cost in Thesk platinum" The man grinned and stroked his chin. "What's stopping me from just taking it from you boy?" Arician grinned back his eye began to swirl with magic "This large hound my own blade and the magic I hold" The man simply quirked a brow and waited as Arician's pose didn't falter. He then burst out laughing at the Mageling "I like you kid you've got spunk and anger and you really want to leave, but me and my crew work on a route not direct movement. So even a hundred thousand platinum's wouldn't get you there."
Arician paused and thought to himself before speaking "When do you hit port last on the sword coast?" The man stroked his chin in wonder then said a few things to the others in common. Arician didn't bother to listen he was busy watching for danger in the inn. "We get to port last in two years time lad still want to come?" Arician took a step back and folded his arms in thought. "Yes" his tone was direct and unwavering. The man smiled and took out a small patch wrapping it around his arms "Then welcome to the black swords mercenary group I'm Thatch what'd they call you?" "Arician"
Ephion smiled and lied down on the floor, all was going smoothly. At least that's what he thought. till he spotted a very large problem. Before he could say anything in burst four Theskian royal guards in service to their uncle. "WHERE IS TILLDREATH HELLSCAREM!?"

Arician froze at the words and did his best not to make this known to Thatch and the others. But they knew exactly what was going on. Ephion was right they were good mercs.
Thatch looked down at the blue haird wizard "not your friends eh lad?" "well don't worry your one of us now so we might as well show ye what tha really means" Arician looked up confused but Thatch and the others had already rushed the guards crashing through them Arician then realised he was Ephions back staring at the inn. Turning about he saw Thatch and the others running ahead towards a wood.
OK step 1. find a mercenary group done. Step 2. leave Thesk without getting killed; that'll be the hard part. Arician thought to himself drawing his sword and getting into a better ridding position he pointed towards the east of the forest "THAT WAY" he said as best he could in common. compling Thatch and the others headed east into the forest and went deep before stopping.
Thatch turned to Arician panting "OK lad now you give us answers" Arician just gulped.

*some many years later in Cormyr*
Arician sat in his room at the royal griffin reading one of many ancient tomes, then smiled. His mind had wandered to all those he had met and called friend, for to him friend meant so very much.
His friends were his allies, they were everything to him. They were his family. And so he sat in silence staring at a wall remembering every friend, every ally. His whole Family.
He then shook he head laughing. "By the gods. My family is bloody huge"
OOC note: Thanks to all of you guys who play with me. Your just plain awesome.

*still many years later in cormyr*
Arician looked over what could only be described as a mess of old tomes and various grimore's he had written over his years of searching and wandering.
He walked over to one bound in black with iron shackles to hold it closed, holding it in his hands he tapped it with a single finger a few times. "hrmmmmmmm" Arician hummed to himself still tapping the book.
Setting it down he looked back over the various tomes and forgotten scripts. "All that knowledge and yet I know nothing" Arician said with a sigh.
Picking up his current grimore and setting it down on a small table opening it to the current page his eyes flowing over the words and inscriptions.
sighing he walked away from the book and to the nearby window. he gazed out into a warm Cormyrian night sky "So much to do" he mused to himself. Clapping his hands once he returned to his work, writing, studying, revising the never ending cycle of a wizards path to power.
Arician paused looking back to the dark shackled tome before shaking his head and returning to work. "No" he said "No I'm not quite that desperate for what I need yet"

(Still very much in cormyr)
Arician sighed as he sorted through the forms and papers of the days transactions. Ephion came up to the table more in his mouth laying them down he said" seems twas a busy month my'lord" Arician scoffed "busy is an understatement Ephion the house almost ran out of stock' he sighed looking through more and signing off on various agreements and letters.
Standing up from the desk he moved to the window. he stared out from his room. "we've still got dozens more reports and transactions don't we?" Ephion just nodded Sighing he turned and went back to the desk "send a letter to Davina telling her I'll be stuck in a tower for the next two odd days please Ephion.....and bring that half bottle of damaran red it going to be a long night" Ephion bowed and went to do his masters biddings.
Arician continued on his work but paused as the faintest feeling of someone or something watching him crawled into his head. Shaking the idea from his mind he worked on "Your paranoia's getting worse Blue" he mused to himself as he worked"
He paused again and looked around the room" at least I hope that's what it is" he mused once more. sighing he rubbed his brow "Should've said drink then letter now it'll be night by the time I get that bottle" he grumbled in damaran about his increasing age but continued to work well into the night.

*back in the past* "Well Arician?" Thatch said his hand gripping the scruff of his shirt "why in the nine hells are Theskian merchant guards after -you-?" Arician paused staring into Thatch's half angry half curious expression. "That boss is a rather long story, so I'll make it short; I'm a fleeing noble trying to get out of Thesk.
Thatch then abruptly let go of Arician and smiled"Oh is that all? thought you mighta been some kinda killer or stole from a noble, comeon lets get you outa Thesk"
Arician blinked thinking that was almost too easy Thatch then said in common "Alrighty gang we're making for Kara-Tura i've got us a few jobs to line our pockets while we head to the sword coast.
Arician barley understood what he said but Ephion translated the rest. Nodding Arician pushed on with this motly band of mercenaries he figured things couldn't get worse, that is until they got to Kara-Tura.

Arician yawned as he awoke. He had just been travelling for some eighteen hours in a direct push for the Kara-turan border and when they finally got their had to deal with what had to be the single only border guard in Thesk that couldn't be bribed. Least he had some nice armour and weapons that could fetch a good enough price in the land of the sword.
They managed to get to an inn with some funny sounding Shou name he didn't bother to have Ephion or Thatch translate to him.
It was at that time he realised his familiar was doing its usual creepy stare at his half awoken self. "GAHH!' Arician said startled by the un-blinking red gaze of his hell-hound "Awake at last My'lord? I was beginning to think you'd sleep right until eight" Arician scratches his head and stretched before standing "why what time is it?" Ephion rolled his eyes; he was getting tired of pointless requests such as this. "It is five hours into the morning Dusk" Ephion said also pushing unto his paws shaking out his limbs.
Arician nodded unsheathing his sword and going through his morning practises. "So we're in Kara-Tura then?" Ephion nodded stating "Some border Inn before the main country Thatch and the others' Job contact said to be here" Arician nodded continuing with his sword practise. He was a mercenary now and by weeks end he'd have done his first job. Life just gets harder and harder it seemed.

*in the grove of mystra* Arician breathed deep of the grove's air as he meditated; so much had happened so much was left to be done.
He though upon the path ahead once more hopping he had been chosen right for all of what was to come.
With little to grant him answer he pondered in silence for a few hours until dawns light cracked through the canopy.

Arician drummed his fingers on a tome as his nursed a glass of wine. "So little changes, you'd think there'd be larger shifts but still all that was to come still shall" He finished the glass and set it down staring out a window at the night sky. Ephion slinked out from a shadow and placed some letters on his desk before leaving. "Ah well, the work never stops" With that Arician returned to his work humming quietly as he did.
