First of all I just wanted to say: Hello all! This is my first time in NWN, first time using FRC, first post but this is certainly not my first time role-playing. I think that role-playing is art. However I also think it is a science. Art is formed through the expressions of emotions, where both positive and negative emotion produce great art. Science, however, is learned and implemented. Like Art, our emotion drive the type of characters we play, however, like science, we thrive as characters only if we understand the ways of the role-player. One cannot just charge into a battle, especially if that one is a cloth bound mage who, secretly or course, believes that they are an iron clad fighter (time to start multi-classing?). Even little things like terminology, key strokes and other non-character specific elements of NWN has to be taught and learned (besides what can be found in the games user manual, of course). Which brings me to my point, learn the game, learn the ways of the role-player, and you will enjoy this game so much more. Getting to know NWN is not as complex as you may think; try checking out this guide I found in the NWN vault (below). It was written by "Gruush" in 2003 but I personally think it is still current. For the player who has little experience in role-playing and more experience in MMO's in general, this guide will help a lot! vnfiles.ign.com/nwvault.ign.com/fms/files/other/501/RPGuideLetter.pdfWith this post I assume two things: 1) there are new players here, and 2) there will continue to be new players to the Forgotten Realms Cormyr Universe. Really happy to be part of something great! Cheers! ~The Artful Dodger~

I'm looking at that PDF. Here's something I have to deal with myself:
I type 70+ WPM, for me thought usually equals text. Sometimes I feel like everyone else says 1 thing to my 3 things. One thing that actually slows me down is I tend to type my next response in anticipation of what the other person will say, so I get to backspace it all if they don't say what I expected.

This. Same thing happens to me, and I would assume many others here. One thing to remember, something I strive to at least,it may not be that someone is ignoring your PC as much as they're simply trying to keep up with all the emotes, talking and sundry other details of roleplay.
