Grim-faced and blood-splattered did the Dwarf smite the foes that set themselves against him. Arrayed in their paltry manner, they sought to sneak upon him and do him harm. The Dwarf rose above such easy attacks, laying into the kobolds and smashing the lizard-like heads of their shamans. As he wiped away their traces from his warhammer, he espied another foe only a few beard lengths away. A greenish gobri, or goblin in the common tongue. This goblin was dressed in spiked and blackened armor, and bore weapons marked as 'Dwarf-killer' in that foul tongue. The Sonnlinor of Moradin readied himself for a charge, saluting his ancestrol foe before leading with his shield.
A solid blow was laid on his shield, but he did not concede. A quick return thrust of his hammer put the hated greenskin on it's side, yet it managed to sidle away from a killing stroke. Pushing itself up and into the Dwarf's defenses, it nearly managed a skewering slash, but the Son of Stone was determined and beat off the attempt. His warhammer swung in again...and this time the goblin's head was pulped. Uttering the words 'Rhazhatha poa kur kah Moradin' he ventured forward until he spotted a well-made chest, which upon ensuring was not trapped he did open.
Within lay a marvelous and exquisitely crafted warhammer. Of silvery steel was the haft and pommel made, wrapped in red leather bearing Dethek runes. The head itself had a mirror-like sheen and as he hefted the perfectly balanced hammer he saw that here too were runes that translated, roughly, into Glorious Battle. 'Splendarr Rorn' the Dwarf breathed these words nearly to himself, so overcome was he. As he spoke the words, the hammerhead gleamed in the dimness of the cavern, and he sank to his knees, balanced on his shield.
'The mountains are echoing with our song/Flames are dancing on the stone wall/Enchantment of the forge and iron/The deepest caverns are ours'
As he spoke this ancient prayer, he felt the very light of Moradin fill him, his piety rewarded by the Soulforger. Rising to his feet he grimly and proudly strode forth to deliver slaughter to his foes that remained.
Upon exiting the caverns and arriving at the village of Greatgaunt, he excitedly told a few kinsdwarves of the gift Moradin had seen fit to bless him with, and also that he meant to look further into this, to find out the lore of such a mighty weapon.
