The question is..how does one balance a higher than avg wisdom with a lower than average intelligence or vice versus? You need to meet Kethoth. He is very smart but sometimes he isn't quite all there. He commonly doesn't get jokes and says lewd things on accident and doesn't think twice about it. IMO, very simply: Intelligence = knowledge Wisdom = how you use knowledge Opposite Kethoth: Zoe has "normal" intelligence (though it is usually buffed) and high wisdom. I don't RP that she knows everything but she does have a very deep sense of how to talk to people, the right things to say, and a good understanding of how to use the knowledge she does have in the best ways possible. To expand on this: Brendir knows six languages (14 int), but he has literally no reserve in regards to what he says. He will speak his mind no matter what consequences might befall him (8 wis). For a high wisdom, low intelligence character, I picture a Tibetan monk who spends more time training and disciplining his mind than filling it with knowledge.

Ooh, ooh! I must derail now! My favorite is how many of the human males are six foot six or taller, and how many of the human females are taller than six feet and, as CC would say, stacked. It's like a Robert Heinlein novel sometimes, I swear. Remember - adventurers are not "normal". They probably represent less than a tenth of a percent of the population. Since adventuring is a physical activity it would make sense that most adventurers are above average in height and weight. As far as the boxum female characters go - remember that most of them are played by men Ancient Empathy ...gah! I fixed your quote for you, *Nod. Nod* ;D ;D

Probably from the North, or some other place that gets a ridiculous amount of free regional languages, not to mention racial.

Sheesh ... I've missed a whole lot of discussion ... as for the spontaneity vs. actual casting thing, I've always viewed it as both. Of course, Tarithel needs the verbal components and motions. I'm just assuming, she sometimes doesn't remember herself go through them. She just gets really really angry and thinks FIREFIREFIRE and the orcs explode and she knows later, she must have cast a maximized and totally excessive firebrand, but she doesn't really remember saying the words. Or she sees the giant run past the tanks towards a squishy friend in the back and reaches for the weave to make him stop, and next thing she remembers is that green hand hugging the giant in a rather squeezy kind of way. I think of it kinda like driving home stopping at twenty red lights without really remembering actually stopping there, later, even though I must have put my foot on the brake. And I totally agree with the direct connection to the weave idea -- the weave as an extension of Tarithel's personality. That totally determines her spell choice (like no nice necromancy spells for her), and it also is a recurring theme for her to ponder where Tarithel stops and the weave starts. There's this grey area where she doesn't feel sure whether the fire is cause or effect.
