A report is delivered to the Purple Dragons of Skull Crag by a silver-haired Elven woman. The writing is neat and unhurried, signed but has no seal.
Sirs, I wish to lay a claim of assault committed by the 'physician' known as Veristan. Said assault was made upon the person of the human woman, Isabel Gallendt within your town, just outside the local inn. The attack was unprovoked; we believe he sought answers to questions and used his torturous assault to that end.
The nature of the attack was a hand strike, made while he wore bladed gauntlets. Be it known that I, Riell, did subsequently threaten to kill him if he did not release the young woman. To which, he simply increased the ferocity of his attack. I was forced to relax my guard lest he kill her outright for such was the threat he then made.
To my knowledge, the assault was witnessed by no other persons. However, the caravan ticketer will doubtless have seen me escort the injured woman back to the Inn (though I have not spoken to him of the incident, we - Isabel Gallendt and myself - made use of his services the following morning to leave the town). The innkeeper and a number of his staff will be able to testify that I assisted the woman to a room to nurse her wounds. Wounds that the 'physician' stitched before departing. Also, the local priest was asked to both examine the nature of the injury (as I believe Veristan's weapon likely to have left a most uncommon scar), and to tend to it for her.
Before departing the scene, Veristan levelled a further threat. That if his actions were to become "common knowledge" as he put it, he would wreak a vengeance against the young woman Isabel Gallendt. I ask that she be given suitable protection until this matter is dealt with.
I swear by the memory of my mother, Valaina (now passed beyond the veil), that every word I have written here is true and correct.
