A heavily bandaged Tarithel Novar accompanied by Juliana Carna, priestess of the Red Knight, seek out the Purple Dragons in Greatgaunt to report a case of murder. Miss Carna supports the shaken and pale victim and explains how the attack took place in Skullcrag, but was reported in Greatgaunt because no Purple Dragons were to be found in Skullcrag, at the time.
When they are lead inside the barracks and somebody comes to take their report, after a short while, Tarithel starts to relate:
Well, we went to Skullcrag. James and I, to meet with Ander ... sell stuff and such.
I wasn't particularly fond of the idea of returning to Skullcrag. Not *coughs* with what happened there to Isabel, yesterday.
...
But standing around in Greatgaunt with nothing to keep me from thinking, wasn't really helping, either. So, I went along.
So, we all got together, completed our business with the shop, there, had a few drinks, a chat, Ander left early ... then I see Rimieh walk past, and I really needed to talk to him. I asked James to excuse me for a moment and went for a private chat with Rimieh.
*inhales*
That talk wasn't really going anywhere, and I guess it was all fine we were disturbed by somebody delivering a message to Rimieh.
I was ... um ... a bit disappointed. Stepped outside for a breath of fresh air.
*sighs* That's where my memory get a bit hazy.
I remember somebody stepped up to me and we talked. *frowns and presses her lips together trying hard to remember something*
I cannot, unfortunately, remember much about that person, whether it was man or woman, what the person looked like, nor what exactly we talked about. I do know that person demanded something of me ... some thing ... or something I should do *shakes her head slowly* I don't remember ...
Only that that person threatened to ... um ... *pales slightly* ... to kill my friends ... if I didn't comply. But whatever it was that was wanted of me, I was unwilling to provide.
So, I drew my sword ... and that's when I was attacked ... I don't remember anything, after that. *falls silent*
Juliana continues:
*nods briskly* I chanced to come across her, though I wasn't the first to find her. I stopped my journey to Greatgaunt for a rest in Skullcrag and saw a woman clad in muddy-green clothing and tight fitting armor, probably human by the stature, though the face was hidden by her hood. She passed by the inn door heading for the caravan coming from behind that house to the right of the inn entrance.
She said there was somebody dead behind that house ... speaking in a hoarse voice. *frowns a little* But I could not get her to help, she seemed rather anxious to not get involved ... mentioned being from Moonsea, I think I remember.
*sighs* She certainly had no traces of blood on her ... but I'll get to that.
I went to look behind the house, found Miss Novar there, though I didn't recognize her at once ... lying face down in the snow ... the back covered with cuts, bloody snow all about, clothes torn off her, cut to shreds and lying next to her.
I turned her around ... and recognized her, her front injured in very similar fashion. Also *points at the bandages on Miss Novar's right hand* her right index finger was ... is ... missing. Fortunately, I had the means on me to call her soul back to this plane.
*pauses*
I've seen a wound or two, you know?
I'm pretty sure the wounds were dealt to her by her own sword that was in her hands. *pauses* But I'm also quite sure that in no way she could have hurt herself in that way ... especially not on the back.
Well, Miss Novar's belongings had been searched ... but apparently nothing has been removed but her two raise scrolls. The money, all her bank notes, jewelry, everything is still there.
I tended to her wounds. But I did not use any of the blessings available to me, because there is something strange about those wounds that might warrant a skilled investigator examine them. We also have the clothes Miss Novar was wearing at the time.
*Tarithel looks up and grabs her pack to drag out the pitiful remains of what was once a tartan and places it on the table in front of them*
// Now, there's a thing or two more that those two or some of the other people involved might remember.
// There's also the evidence to examine.
// I have a log to submit to whoever would care to look into this a bit more
// Thanks
