Alright first I would like to say I have absolutely no role play experience at all. I have been playing on this server for about 7-12 months or so, and I have slowly but surely learned the ropes. My only character is a Ganvex, a Wizard (necromancer) who is a follower of Velsharoon, and is from Vaasa. I have no D&D experiece which also makes playing a wizard somtimes a little tough. I actually have to read nwnwiki very often, because my lack of knowledge.
My question to everyone is what little or big things can I do to rp my character better. I am open to any suggestions, I have read the entire support team evil thread and this is what made me want to be a better rper to contribute to team evil and to this server. If you see somthing ig you can politely tell me. Or if you would like, you can send me a pm or suggest it on this thread. Please do not flame me for mistakes made. (never has happened) Any rp tips or suggestions are appreciated. Or any ways that you can suggest that I help suport team evil.
Thanks

From what I've spied on Ganvex I thought you've been doing well contributing. I could tell some things made you think hard on and other times you seem to observe a lot. I say keep up the good work all the same. One of the important things is to keep conscious like how you're being Let that be a bit of motivation to you I cant personally muster an easy way to suggest things but here goes: 1.) If you want to strive to aid the evil populace, begin looking into big names of characters that are evil and/or of morally questionable character. Seek them out, plot and plan. Due business with and so forth 2.) Set your character some ambitions. These ambitions may likely have an evil-intent behind him, but that evil intent needn't be so blatant. For example, one evil intent could be to perform a mass genocide of a particular race simply because of hate or some perversed level of superiority. Something less blatant may include wishing to further some greedy ambition that won't bode well for others around you (sort of like a collateral damage thing?) 3.) If you're looking to develope character more, sometimes starting with their past helps make way for the present and even the future. Fashion your character a history of some sort - think of their parents if any, consider the general mentallity of Vaasan people if that helps you guide you along with perhaps forming ambitions. He's evil, a necromancer, and from Vaasa...Weren't there some type of Lichking issues from Vaasa (perhaps it was Damara)? Dont quote me, but the point is; knowing history of ones lands could help with character development and personnality and the way you percieve others 4.) My general opinion on alignment is that it should provide you with a base foundation for how you'd view the world and the people, and the way you act, and to recognize that alignment is subject to change, and therefore never truly be concrete (unless you specifically roleplay the purpose of being outside of influence from others) in a character. People are subject to change, again. I mention alignment because alignments are very much apart of the DnD universe, down to the point there are alignment-specific weapons and spells, and it's tied into character development 5.) It might not be a bad idea for you to expose yourself to different type of character persona's, niches, backgrounds, faiths and so forth. Making an alt character that is diametrically opposite of yours currently, for instance, may not only help improve your performance all around but it could benefit your other characters in understanding peoples mentalities, perhaps. The latter just vastly depends if the character would have the perception means to do such. 6.) Use your imagination as best you can Don't go overboard, and when in doubt, seek a DM out for some questions or a player advocate. We're all writters here looking to include other people in our stories for fun and to try and show how talented we are. I roleplay to entertain and help others as best I can Hope that helps

One thing I'd like to add ... should have added it in the other thread, but hey ... I'd just like to say that many doubts I've read about playing evil characters, to me personally, fail to take into account the simple fact that the truly evil people you don't recognize as such! You don't recognize the serial killer living next door for what he is. You'll even have him feed your cats while you're on holidays. Nor do you recognize the ... um ... oh dear, how do I avoid a political debate now? ... um ... war-criminal who just moved in upstairs and always keeps the stairs so nicely clean. Nor will they necessarily do anything bad to their close environment (which you can translate as party, if you wish) ... because they tend to know what's useful to them.
