I have to wonder about this -- how is homosexuality regarded in Faerun? I think I heard something about one of the deities having lovers of both genders, but I'm not entirely sure on that (and even if that were the case, it still might not be widely accepted on the surface). Is there mention of it/the mindset toward it in the sourcebooks/books? The response still probably varies widely from region to region, and individual to individual -- but I'm fairly certain there isn't any faith in Faerun that actively denounces it, so I was wondering if maybe it wouldn't be such a... taboo. If nothing else, how is it generally regarded within Cormyr? I really hope this isn't too touchy of a subject or whatnot.. but I have to admit to being very curious about it. It seems to me like FR is a psuedo-medieval setting, but it has that polytheistic overtone, right? (And lacking a religion that out and out forbids/condemns it, would the people as a whole frown upon it?) I feel myself going off on a tangent here, so I'll wrap it up. Like this. Thanks for your responses!

I think the official rule is that you can do what you want, but dont expect too many DMs to get involved heavily RPing with you about it. There has been an extensive topic about this already concerning this. Go ahead and have a look. frc.proboards37.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1118981442&page=1As always, I must state that this is my humble opinion and does not necessarily reflect the opinion of any other DM or the concensus of the DM body in general.

i don't have a clue to how this would be regarded in public, but i know that my char, jargo, is a bit old-fashioned and won't be very accepting of such sexuality. that's just the way he was raised: man marries woman. i do remember one homosexual man comming on to jargo, and finally pushed it too far and ended up getting beat up pretty bad and left lying face burried in a trash can...

I'm wondering out of curiosity, and how it would impact my characters' views of themselves; I mean, if this was a society that really condemned homosexuals as wicked, then I imagine they'd feel ashamed, confused, etc. (well, more than being homosexual in the first place already invites). As well, how often/freely they allowed it to show or acted upon their affections would be heavily impacted by the attitude of the culture around them, the likelihood of their being punished for their feelings/actions, etc. ..Not so I can get my cyber on with the DM team. LOL. ;D

LOL. ;D My dear. You don't need anyone's approval on this, least of all the DM's. Yeah, it's true, we probably won't perpetuate it, but nobody is gonna stop you either. Blah, blah, we are a PG-13 to NC17 Server and all of that. Keep cybering private, and always make sure you know your partner, so to speak. As always, you never know who is on the other end of your gaming style. To be sure, any cybering must, *must* be done privately (we have had some who have found certain bathhouses acceptable) and that all we really ask as far as that goes. Getting back to the greater issue.. I will take a stronger pose than most and say you are welcome here. There is nothing in the rules against homosexuality, and there is nothing against the rules about same sex marriage. Please feel free to quote me. Use good judgment, and realize that FRC is just another microcosm; there will always be good folks, and others we might refer to as provincial trash. Cheers!

And than I shall give you a big cyber hug. *hug!* Thanks a lot for that. I'm happy to say that I officially adore this server to bits and pieces -- and this is just a small part of what contributed to that adoration, obviously, but a factor none-the-less. Thanks again, for your response here, and your overall effort.. FRC rocks. ;D

The only thing I have to add is that while we are a full RP server, we are not a BSDM server, and we do not limit our gaming population to the 18 and over crowd.
We do have some minors playing here and as we are an open online gaming forum we do not want to invite any unwanted trouble from any potential inappropriate content directed towards said minors. Remeber when you signed up for the forums and they made you register your birth date? That is because any open online forum can be put under legal scruty in the search for predators looking to find minor victims.
I am just asking you all to use responsibility in your RP as I do not want to see any of our community (but especially me) get into trouble, even if it is just a misunderstanding.

The only thing I have to add is that while we are a full RP server, we are not a BSDM server, and we do not limit our gaming population to the 18 and over crowd. BDSM server? Where'd that come from-? Just in case, and again, players of gay characters are no more likely to be cybering at the fireside than anyone else.. so, yeah. This topic was kinda started as more of a 'how would society respond to?' topic, not.. like, 'how can I get my gay bondage cyber on?' It is a topic on sexuality, but that doesn't necessarily mean sex. But.. yeah. Thanks for your input. I'll keep it in mind..

if i have to rp a romance i go to a room at an inn, and even then i keep it fairly clean maybe PG-16ish, not really any kinky stuff going on. honestly, if i wanted to get my cyber on i'd be checking out the social servers... but yeah, i guess warnings are in order as this is a sensitive topic in some ways.
